Tesla’s upcoming Supercharger route in Southern Australia will provide drivers with the opportunity to marvel in the world’s biggest battery. The 100 megawatt, 129-megawatt-hour Powerpack system will charge from a wind farm and will store energy for backup power in the event of grid instability. “Tesla Powerpack will charge using renewable energy from the Hornsdale Wind Farm and then deliver electricity during peak hours to help maintain the reliable operation of South Australia’s electrical infrastructure,” Tesla said in a press release. Recent news about a new power deal in the region, however, could have an impact the relationship between Tesla…

The China Aerospace Science and Industrial Corporation will begin development of supersonic transportation technology, rivaling Tesla CEO Elon MuskÂ’s designs with an intercontinental model that will travel at speeds up to 2,300 mph. The technology, dubbed the T Flight “flying train,” would shatter MuskÂ’s initially proposed 745 mph design should it come to fruition. CASIC has significant resources, netting nearly $1.5 billion last year and employing 150,000 workers. T Flight would use the same magnetic levitation (maglev) model as MuskÂ’s designs, but will seat 16 people and be propelled down a 7-by-7-foot tunnel. It will also feature a turntable to launch capsules …

Graduating high school seniors are often called upon to lend their favorite quotations for inclusion in cherished yearbooks, as senior photos mix with sage words to capture a special moment in time. But after yearbooks were distributed Monday at one Pennsylvania high school, officials were forced to admit that while “the content of the quotes was reviewed thoroughly, the attributions clearly were not.” Meaning that a few regrettable quotations slipped into the graduating class section of the Quaker Valley High School yearbook — specifically ones attributed to Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler, Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin and Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.…

"Confronted by the violence sweeping over Israel, it can be easy to overlook the things that Jews and Palestinians share: a deep attachment to the same sliver of contested land, ... a common tradition of descent from the patriarch Abraham, and, as scientific research shows - a common genetic ancestry, as well. Ostrer’s research on “Abraham’s Children in the Genome Era,” published in The American Journal of Human Genetics, sampled 652,000 gene variants from each of 237 unrelated individuals from seven Jewish populations: Iranian, Iraqi, Syrian, Italian, Turkish, Greek and Ashkenazi. These sequences were then compared with reference samples from non-Jews drawn from The Hu…

Tesla has issued an unannounced over the air software update to Model S 60 owners living within Florida’s Hurricane Irma evacuation zone. Model S 60 owners that were previously software limited 210 miles of range per single charge were automatically upgraded to 249 miles, and given temporary access to the full range capacity of the vehicle’s 75 kWh battery pack. The update is seen as a gesture of good will by Tesla to help its drivers flee southern Florida as the state prepares for the most powerful Atlantic storm to hit its shores in nearly a decade. Reports of Tesla Model S 60 owners living in the path of Hurricane Irma who received a sudden increase in battery rang…
