Tesla is pushing forward on its Full Self-Driving goals as it increases data collection from Model S and Model X equipped with the Autopilot hardware suite. The California-based electric car maker has been collecting a wider range of data from its vehicles, which includes driver interventions of Autosteer, road classifications, as well as vehicle speed against a curve radius of any given road. Data logging of interventions include any time a driver uses the steering wheel, hits the brake or manually hits the Autopilot stalk. Though Tesla has been collecting data from its worldwide fleet of vehicles and operating them in ‘Shadow Mode‘ for quite some time, the lat…

Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that a “Tesla/SpaceX Hyperloop pusher pod” has bolted down SpaceX’s Hyperloop test track at 355 km/h (220 mph), shattering the previously held Hyperloop pod top speed record of 202 mph set over the weekend. Musk said in an Instagram post that the Tesla pod could soon reach a top speed of 500 km/h — or half the speed of sound — after “a few tweaks.” The test run comes as both Musk and The Boring Company have been rumored to be joining the race to develop the best Hyperloop technology. The Boring Company announced in early August that its tunnels would be used for Hyperloop technology just days after Musk hinted that he wanted to buil…

Sometimes you have to do a brain dump so thoughts do not back up. There is much to spur them on lately. For example, astronomers have spotted an asteroid which will make the closest approach ever to earth. Is this reason to take cover, as timid ones have suggested? No! Rise to the occasion. Their inattention will kill them, as some Bible verse says somewhere or ought to. This could be a worse crisis than global warming. Act now! Do not wait until it all disappears - when it will be too late. …

Tesla Model 3 buyers that are holding out for the dual motor configuration thatÂ’s expected to arrive in mid-2018 will be rewarded with the Smart Air Suspension upgrade. CEO Elon Musk confirmed in a tweet-reply to devout Model 3 reservation holder and host to Ride the Lightning: Tesla Motors Unofficial Podcast, Ryan McCaffrey, that TeslaÂ’s touchscreen adjustable dynamic suspension will be released in conjunction with next yearÂ’s dual motor Model 3. “My driveway is weird & I need it!” proclaims McCaffrey. TeslaÂ’s Smart Air Suspension was introduced as an optional upgrade on the Model S when the vehicle was first released in 2012, but the company has sinc…

Satellite operator and manufacturer SES has decided to juggle launches between SpaceX and Arianespace, a French launch provider. Made for a number of reasons related to the economics of satellite operation and launch date uncertainty, SES has chosen to have SpaceX launch the heavier SES-12 satellite in Q1 of 2018, and Arianespace will now launch SES-14 “early Q1” of 2018. SES has experienced difficulties with some of its operational satellites that have led to decreased revenue, and the goal with the launch swap is to guarantee that SES will have an operational, revenue-generating satellite in place a few weeks sooner than they might have had if relying on SpaceXÂ’s un…
