A video has been unearthed on YouTube that shows a Tesla executive in charge of the Model 3 production line giving a pep talk to Fremont factory workers before the Model 3 delivery event. The person in the video appears to be Peter Hochholdinger, the long-time Audi exec that Tesla hired away to manage its Model 3 production line. HochholdingerÂ’s official position title is Vice President of Production at Fremont. “ThereÂ’s a lot of work in front of us, whoÂ’s scared about that?” Hochholdinger asks. No one raises their hands, and the crowd goes into laughter as Hochholdinger says “Good! Thank you!” Joking aside, Hochholdinger had a more serious…

A Southern Australia energy plan has sparked an outcry from Tesla and other energy companies as a project that doesn’t propel green energy development in the region. The Energy Security Target is aiming to mimic a federal plan called the Renewable Energy Target, which requires 20 percent of Australia’s electricity to be produced from renewable resources by 2020. According to the plan’s website, the EST’s goal is to “create new investment in cleaner energy to increase competition, put downward pressure on prices and provide more energy system stability.” However, the EST’s structure is not based on incentivizing renewable energy companies to expand in Sout…

Following the trend of Tesla’s “rapid scaling” after the launch of its Model 3, CEO Elon Musk said he thinks demand could one day hit 700,000 Model 3 cars per year. Musk made the statement on a call with investors to discuss yesterday’s bond offering news, according to The Street. The EV CEO had previously pegged annual peak production estimates at around 500,000. “They are constantly spending on the next big innovation, whether the public knows what that is or not,” James Albertine of Consumer Edge Research LLC told the news outlet. “The market should want to give innovative companies more capital as long as they perform, and Tesla is clearly performing.” …

The EPA released its Certification Summary Information Report of Tesla’s Model 3, and it contains some new information on battery specifications and horsepower rating for the premium electric sedan. Tesla is slowly beginning to face stiff competition from other countries as the world races toward lithium ion battery mass production. Giles Keating, chairman at investment consultancy firm Werthstein Institute, told CNBC that Tesla will face mounting competition from companies in China and Germany as it continues to ramp up its Gigafactory and battery production. “There’s a kind of arms race on batteries around the world. We know that Elon Musk with Tesla has got this Gigafactory,” he said. “The Chinese are racing to overtake him; they’ll have three times the capacity. And then in Germany, we’ve just heard announcement of a new plan for a $1 billion factory on…

On the heels of the announcement that the Falcon Heavy rocket will make its debut launch in November, SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk took to social media to share a first draft animation of how the much-anticipated rocket might look. “There’s a lot of risk associated with Falcon Heavy, a real good chance that that vehicle does not make it to orbit. I want to make sure to set expectations accordingly. I hope it makes it far enough beyond the pad so that it does not cause pad damage. I would consider even that a win, to be honest,” Musk said, according to Spaceflight Now. SpaceX has slated two Falcon Heavy tests for the first half of 2018, depending on how…

As Tesla begins to ramp up Model 3 production, the company will seek a $1.5 billion bond offering to help finance its push. “Tesla intends to use the net proceeds from this offering to further strengthen its balance sheet during this period of rapid scaling with the launch of Model 3, and for general corporate purposes,” the company said in a prepared statement. The bond offering comes on the heels of the Model 3 delivery event, which left journalists raving about the high-volume EV. Tesla has reportedly received 1,800 reservations per day following the event. Bloomberg reported that this is the first time the company is selling non-convertible bonds. Tesla CEO El…
