Many of us remember the exciting Internet as the arena for the free exchange of ideas, debate and sharing of creativity, news, commerce etc. The Internet once held the promise of a more democratic world. Everyone would have a voice, a medium, to share ideas and thoughts on. Instead of pointing at commerce as the culprit for killing the Internet I will point at large corporations exploiting people's inherent laziness. Once Apple and Google introduced apps to the world more and more percentage of user eyeballs were now locked into the apple or google app bubble world. I remember being told about the "halo effect" of buying an Apple device which I love.…

Although Safari is a feature-rich browser and contains many essential features, one important functionality that is still missing is the automatic translation of web pages. Other browsers, such as Google Chrome, allow you to translate web pages on the spot, but you’d be surprised to know that Safari has had this capability for a long time. Apple allows third-party developers to create extensions for Safari which integrate with the browser. In the same way, you can install a third-party app that offers an extension for translating web pages. One such app is Microsoft Translator. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to translate webpages in Safari on iPhone or iPa…

Here’s something to look forward to in 2017. Apple’s highly anticipated Siri-controlled speaker has finally entered overseas production, Bloomberg reports, and will be gracing nightstands and mantels by year’s end. However, it has a couple of advantages. First and foremost, it will produce stellar sound and feature “virtual surround sound technology” that mimics the effect of a multi-speaker array. Vladimir Putin told Oliver Stone that while he agrees that the NSA has gone too far in its snooping practices, and that the public sharing of data can’t be called treason, he disapproves of Edward Snowden’s decision to leak troves of confidential files. World News

A Florida man was sentenced to 180 days in jail for refusing to give up his smartphone passcode to authorities, while another Florida man who also refused to do so was let off the hook, according to a new report. Christopher Wheeler, 41, of Hollywood, Florida, was taken into custody Tuesday after a Broward Circuit Judge made the ruling that he was in contempt of court. Wheeler insists that he had in fact given his PIN to the police — although the passcode he provided reportedly didn’t unlock the phone, according to the Miami Herald. Law enforcement was reportedly investigating Wheeler for child abuse. By itself, the incident might not be all that notable, except…

Wouldn't it be nice if we were older? Then we wouldn't have to wait so long And wouldn't it be nice to live together In the kind of world where we belong You know it's gonna make it that much better When we can say goodnight and stay together Wouldn't it be nice if we could wake up In the morning when the day is new? And after having spent the day together Hold each other close the whole night through Happy times together we've been spending I wish that every kiss was never ending Wouldn't it be nice? Maybe if we think, and wish, and hope, and pray, it might come true Baby, then there wouldn't be a sing…
