Festivus - The Holiday for the REST of us ? "Seinfeld" was a very popular TV show a few years back, and one of the comedic sketches they had was the ad-hoc invention of a holiday called "Festivus" - completely made up out of thin air, to compete with those who did not celebrate Christmas or Hanukkah , or other holidays. I have seriously (Hahahahaha) been thinking about making "Festivus" a family tradition at our house, as exemplified by the expression " .. A life without celebration, is like a very long road without an Inn ..". If this is new to you, you can watch Seinfeld "Festivus" episodes on YouTube to get the idea, and Wikipedia has the full history …

Dagblad van het Noorden Today a large article was published in a Dutch newspaper 'Dagblad van het Noorden'. It is about Frank Huiting, the Reclaimed Voices Foundation and the adopted motion in Parliament. The Branch office has given a reaction: According to the organisation of Jehovah's Witnesses, an investigation desired by the entire Parliament into sexual abuse within the church, is disproportionate. "The Reclaimed Voices Foundation says that this is a structural problem within our Church. We do not identify with this at all," says spokesman Michel van Hilten. According to him, the scale of the problem is not larger than elsewhere in society. They theref…

Jehovah's Witnesses declare war on the media By: Richard Wagner Numerous negative media reports about a systematically scandalous handling of abuse cases forced the religious community to make a comprehensive counter-attack. The allegations were a year-long tactics, but this has not led to the allegations decreased. Now they have decided to go over the attack and sweep up all the media that disseminate negative information about Jehovah's Witnesses as malicious, devilish, and hypocritical in order to discredit them in this way. In the magazine Watchtower of August 2018 (study edition) under the heading "Do you know the facts" now all believers are swor…

Listen, O Israel: Jehovah our God is one Jehovah.—Deut. 6:4. Â Those words are part of MosesÂ’ parting speech to the nation of Israel gathered on the plains of Moab in the year 1473 B.C.E. The nation was about to cross the river Jordan to take possession of the Promised Land. (Deut. 6:1) Moses, their leader for the past 40 years, wanted the people to be courageous when facing the challenges ahead. They needed to trust in Jehovah and be faithful to him as their God. MosesÂ’ final words would understandably have a profound effect on the people. After mentioning the Ten Commandments and other regulations that Jehovah had given the nation, Moses made the powerful …

Those whom Jehovah loves he reproves.—Prov. 3:12. The environment in which Jehovah is now molding us is viewed as a spiritual paradise that is presently taking shape. (Isa. 64:8) We feel safe and secure despite the wicked world around us. We have come to know Jehovah and now experience his fatherly love. (Jas. 4:8) In the new world, we will experience to the full the blessings of the spiritual paradise. Then, our spiritual paradise will have its perfect counterpart—a literal paradise under the rulership of GodÂ’s Kingdom. During that time of global restoration, Jehovah will continue to mold earthÂ’s inhabitants, educating them to a degree that we might now find hard…

I, as a Witness, feel relatively proud of my Bible knowledge. I also appreciate a lot of excellent articles, emotive videos and many other educational materials our people receive from the brothers on charge. The steward class. Also, when I observe some brothers talking in our TV channel I cannot but feel upbuilding. Well, one of my complaints is to observe that the average JW know perfectly well different passages related to a lot of themes, and that is good! But I find an enormous lack of knowledge of the Bible books content for themselves. What I mean: what Galatians book does talk about? Common answer: · The fight of Paul with Peter …

John 14:28 ‘The Father is greater (Greek: meizon) than I’ (p.865). Jesus did not say that ‘the Father is better (Greek: kreitton) than I’. Greater refers to the Father’s greater position (in heaven), not to a greater nature. 1) Do you agree that a president is greater in position but not better in nature than his people? 2) In view of greater (meaning higher in position) and better (meaning higher in nature - see Hebrews 1:4), is it not clear that in John 14:28 Jesus is speaking of the Father’s temporary higher position and not by higher nature than Jesus? (p.865).

1) Since Jehovah is called ‘mighty God’ in Isaiah 10:21;and Jeremiah 32:18, just as Jesus is called ‘Mighty God’ (Isaiah 9:6), doesn’t this mean that the Watchtower is wrong in saying that Jesus as Mighty God means He is a lesser deity? 2) If both Jesus and Jehovah are ‘Mighty God’, then what does this tell you about Jesus’ divine nature?

THE TRINITY Watchtower Teaching: JW arguments against the Trinity are: i) If Jesus is God, who ran the universe during the three days that Jesus was dead in the grave? Satan had a great chance to take control. Answer: Jesus’ body died, not His soul or spirit. He along with the Father and the Holy Spirit still ran the universe. ii) If Jesus is the immortal God, He could not have died. Answer: The immortal God, by taking on a mortal body, had His mortal body die. iii) Since God is not a God of confusion (I Corinthians 14:33), it is impossible that the Bible would talk of a God who could not be understood by human reason. JWs claim that the Trin…

John 3:16 - ‘He gave His only begotten Son’. Watchtower teaching: JWs teach that the term ‘Son of God’ refers to Jesus as a separate created being, just as Isaac was called Abraham’s ‘only begotten son’ (Hebrews 11:17), and that Jesus as ‘Son of God’ was not God Himself. JWs claim that Almighty God is the Father of Jesus in the same sense that Abraham is the father of Isaac. JWs claim that God is the senior, and Jesus is the junior - in time, position, power and knowledge. The Bible teaching: Isaac was not Abraham’s ‘only son’. Abraham had begotten a number of other sons, such as Ishmael, Zimram, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak and Shuah (Genesis 25:2). The term …

Watchtower, Study Edition, March 15th, 2015 Loyally Supporting Christ’s Brothers Link: https://wol.jw.borg/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2015207 This article is a doozy. It has many points of interest that carefully play on words, and emotionally manipulate the reader. It really is something. Pay special attention to paragraphs 6, 7, 9, 10, 17, and 18. These paragraphs clearly highlight anyone who is not an active JW will be judged a goat and be killed. Also, spectacularly, those paragraphs point that if you want to be judged a sheep, meaning to not be killed by God imminently, you need to a)recognize the divine authority of the Governing Body, b) obey the org…

Life Nathan Knorr was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He began to show interest in the International Bible Students at age 16. Cats were once considered gods and were worshipped seriously, cats were from a pagan god, so the pagans believed. so why are jw's allowed to have cats in their homes, own them as pets, care for them as if they are family members? Yet having a Christmas tree is a death sentence in Jehovah's eye's.

The Jehovah’s Witnesses community in the Netherlands will not hold an independent inquiry into the sexual abuse of members, despite being urged to do so by justice minister Sander Dekker. By last month, 267 reports of sexual abuse involving Jehovah’s Witnesses had been made to a hotline set up by the Reclaimed Voices foundation in 2017 after Trouw published a report on the growing scandal. Dekker told RTL Nieuws on Tuesday that the organisation’s decision is ‘disappointing’ and that it is ignoring the victims who want to be heard. He has no powers to force the organisation to hold an inquiry. Read more: https://www.dutchnews.nl/news/2018/05/jehovahs-witnesses-reject-call…

CHRIST’S BODILY RESURRECTION ‘I have power to take it again’ John 10:18 Watchtower Teaching: ‘Jesus was raised to life as an invisible spirit. He did not take up again that body in which he had been killed . . .’ ‘Let your Name be sanctified.’ (p.266). The Watchtower teaches that Jesus’ body was disposed of by God. The NWT mistranslates I Peter 3:18 as ‘being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit’ to teach merely a spiritual resurrection of Christ. Bible Teaching: I Peter 3:18 refers to when Christ died. His Spirit went and preached to spirits in prison (v. 19,20). After three days, Christ’s physical body was raised. I Peter 3:18 (K…

Brothers, continue to rejoice, to be readjusted, to be comforted, to think in agreement, to live peaceably.—2 Cor. 13:11. Continued effort is required in order “to be readjusted” and manifest “the new personality.” Paul reminded fellow believers: “You were taught to put away the old personality that conforms to your former course of conduct and that is being corrupted according to its deceptive desires. And you should continue to be made new in your dominant mental attitude, and should put on the new personality that was created according to GodÂ’s will in true righteousness and loyalty.” (Eph. 4:22-24) The expression “continue to be made new” indicates that …
