John 20:17 - ‘My God and Your God’ ‘I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.’ Watchtower teaching: The JW book Reasoning from the Scriptures,$p.212, says, ‘To the resurrected Jesus, the Father was God, just as the Father was God to Mary Magdalene’. JWs argue that because Jesus referred to ‘My father’ and ‘my God’, Jesus cannot be Almighty God Himself. The Bible teaching: Why did Jesus call the Father ‘my God’? Does this imply that Jesus is not God? No, not at all. Christ had only a divine nature before the incarnation. After His birth as a man, He took on a human nature. Therefore, it is in Christ’s humanity that He…

Pennsylvania Supreme Court says priest sex abuse grand jury report needs more review The Pennsylvania Supreme Court on Monday said it stopped the planned release of a report investigating decades of child sexual abuse in six Catholic dioceses, including the Diocese of Allentown, because “many” people raised complaints that it would unfairly tarnish their reputations. The unsigned opinion says most, if not all, of the petitioners are people named in the report who are alleging that it “unconstitutionally infringes on their right to reputation and denies them due process.” Each of the six dioceses last week issued statements saying they had not taken legal…

Babies baptised into the Catholic Church are “infant conscripts who are held to lifelong obligations of obedience”, according to former president Mary McAleese. Saying that early Baptism breaches fundamental human rights, she said: “You canÂ’t impose, really, obligations on people who are only two weeks old and you canÂ’t say to them at seven or eight or 14 or 19 ‘here is what you contracted, here is what you signed up toÂ’ because the truth is they didnÂ’t.” The current model of Baptism “worked for many centuries because people didnÂ’t understand that they had the right to say no, the right to walk away”, she declared. “But you and I know, we live…

In the NWT, every time the Greek word "proskuneo" is used in reference to God, it is translated as "worship" (Rev 5:14, 7:11, 11:16, 19:4, Jn 4:20, etc.). Every time "proskuneo" is used in reference to Jesus, it is translated as "obeisance" (Mt 14:33, 28:9, 28:17, Lk 24:52, Heb 1:6, etc.), even though it is the same word in the Greek (see Gr-Engl Interlinear). Especially compare the Greek word "prosekunhsan" used with reference to God in Rev 5:14, 7:11, 11:16, and 19:4 and used with reference to Christ in Mt 14:33, 28:9, and 28:17. What is the reason for this inconsistency? If the NWT was consistent in translating "proskuneo" as "worship", how would the verses above …

If the name Jehovah is so important, then why is it never used in the entire Greek New Testament? If men edited out the name of God, "YHWH" when they copied the New Testament, as only the Watchtower organization claims, then how can we have any confidence in any of the New Testament? Should we discard the New Testament or the Watchtower organization as unreliable?

Like a child with a father he slaved with me to advance the good news.—Phil. 2:22. Some younger ones may now be coordinating activities that include older brothers. Though such younger ones have a changed role, they would do well to benefit from the wisdom and experience of older ones before making decisions. Timothy, a younger man, worked alongside the apostle Paul for many years. Paul had written to the Corinthians: “I am sending Timothy to you, because he is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord. He will remind you of my methods in connection with Christ Jesus.” (1 Cor. 4:17) This brief statement points to the close cooperation between Paul and Timothy. Paul…

Patriarch Kirill, the Russian Orthodox leader, supports President Putin’s ban on “imported” religionsALEXEY NIKOLSKY/AFP/GETTY IMAGES Armed police officers have arrested at least 17 JehovahÂ’s Witnesses during raids on their homes across Russia. A court ruled last year that the Christian denomination was an extremist organisation, placing it on a par with Islamic State and neo-Nazi groups, and its followers face up to ten years in jail. Roman Markin, 44, was detained after officers with automatic weapons broke down his door in the Arctic city of Murmansk. “They forced him and his 16-year-old daughter to the floor at gunpoint,” Yaroslav Sivulskiy, a spokesman for the…

IN HER chilling memoir of Stalin’s Great Terror, Eugenia Ginzburg wrote of the trepidation she felt at night, when “enemies of the people” were often carted off by the secret police. “The windows of our bedroom faced the street and cars drove past all the time,” she wrote. “And how we listened in fear and trembling when it seemed as though one of them might be pulling up in front of our house.” That was 1937. Now, more than seven decades later, midnight knocks on the door are being heard again in arrests of JehovahÂ’s Witnesses. Last year, the Russian Supreme Court declared the group “extremist ” and banned it from operating on Russian territory. There a…

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dvHUoDKCAHF6efu2XQxfk6o8AmBqE5rm/view Here's the 2018 outline, see page 3 under 'THEOCRATIC PROCEDURES FOR INVESTIGATING WRONGDOING. To summarize: 'Legal blood-alcohol limits vary depending on local laws and do not necessarily establish that a person was Biblically drunk. At times, elders may feel pressured to take judicial action due to notoriety and/or bad publicity. Strong suspicions and negative hearsay reports do not establish wrongdoing; elders must adhere to the Scriptural requirements'. This is quite a low-key affair with booze. I've seen it before, a gentle reminder here and there to drink less, beca…

"Mon | Jun 25, 2018 Michael Abrahams | The Cruelty Of Kingdom Hall Published:Monday | June 25, 2018 | 12:05 AM I must confess that I have ambivalent feelings toward Jehovah’s Witnesses. As members of a denomination, I have found them to be the most pleasant and friendly and I feel deep affection for all that I know. But some of their beliefs concern me deeply. My reasoning with Witnesses began in my late teens. I was a Christian at the time and was baptized in and attended a Missionary church. Back then I knew little about them and was interested in learning about their faith. So, I would invite them to my verandah, where I would avidly listen to …

If you "took the truth seriously" then you tend to be an outcast within your own fucking congregation. I was a MS at a very young age...didn't smoke/drink/party. These same kids who slept around and got drunk every weekend think themselves too good to talk to me in our 30's lolz.

Today, I learned that the elders are directing publishers who do cart witnesses to print out the new child abuse policy printout on the website. The instructions are to not say anything, don’t argue, just hand the paper and stay silent.

Jesus healed the leper and specifically told him to keep a lid on it. Show yourself to the priests, thank God, and go about your business. What did the fellow do? He shouted it out everywhere. He messed up the Lord! Jesus wanted to keep visiting the city. He no longer could do it. He had to hole up out in the wilderness! What could he do? Apart from divinely muzzling the guy or handing him back his leprosy, he was stymied! The Lord! He adapted, though. The cured fellow raised such a ruckus that everyone had to go out in the wilderness to check Jesus out. Maybe it even worked out better this way; they had to do som…

Ectopic pregnancies, when detected, are usually treated by surgically removing them. I always understood that this procedure was ok for Jehovah's Witnesses. But the subject came up during pioneer school. The circuit overseer started explaining that abortions are NEVER acceptable. A human is a human as soon as conception happens. But then he asks if there is ever a reason to break this rule. So I decided to raise my hand and mention the Reasoning book under Abortion where is says it's up to the individuals involved to make a choice if it's during childbirth. I also mentioned ectopic pregnancies. Well, this didn't go over so well with him. Oooh noooo! He said the info…

God is not unrighteous so as to forget your work and the love you showed for his name.—Heb. 6:10. Our changing circumstances can expand or limit our sphere of operation. Are you young or up in years? Is your health good or fragile? Jehovah always considers how each of us might best be used in his service. He only expects from us what is reasonable, and he greatly appreciates whatever we do. Jesus found joy in every one of his assignments, and we can find joy in ours. (Prov. 8:30, 31) A modest person does not feel cramped by his current assignments or responsibilities in the congregation. He does not worry about gaining future privileges or about what others are achie…

The Gospel of John John 8:58 "Before Abraham was I am."  The Trinitarian Claim Claims made by the come back kids known as the Trinitarians is that Jesus was intentionally employing special language to identify himself as Yahweh/Jehovah (YHWH), the God of Israel. They claim he, Jesus, was using God's divine name to identify himself as Yahweh/Jehovah, and as Yahweh/Jehovah, they claim Jesus himself was saying that he pre-existed as a self-conscious divine person (God the Son) before Abraham existed and for that reason the Jews clearly understood he was identifying himself as their God and wanted to stone him for blasphemy. Trinitarians…
