DUANESBURG × The town's plan to purchase a former church in order to convert it into a new Town Hall is being disputed. The Town Board voted in October to purchase the former Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall at 2240 Western Turnpike for $250,000, but a group of residents, including former town Supervisor William Park, has filed a petition for a public referendum on the matter. Town Supervisor Roger Tidball, however, said the petition isn't valid because it was filed one day past the 30-day deadline for filing a referendum petition. "The town will be taking it to court to get it dismissed," Tidball said. Retired dairy farmer Richard Hoffman, a long-ti…

Dan King says he was hit over the head with own crutch after asking a doorknocker to leave. An elderly, disabled Whangarei man is warning people to be careful who they answer the door to after allegedly being attacked with his own crutch following an altercation with a door knocker. Dan King, 75, says the man, claiming to be a Jehovah Witness, had called at his place twice prior to the altercation. Each time the man was alone and King found it difficult to get the man to leave. "I told him I was not interested and asked him not to come back again. In spite of that he returned three times in close succession." King says he received these bumps and …

How Can You Keep a Balanced View of Money? – ???   Be Content With Necessities A contented person is a happy person. This is a universal truth. A Greek proverb says: “Nothing will content him who is not content with a little.” And the Japanese say: “He is poor who does not feel content.” The Bible also speaks in glowing terms of contentment. We read: “To be sure, it is a means of great gain, this godly devotion along with self-sufficiency. For we have brought nothing into the world, and neither can we carry anything out. So, having sustenance and covering, we shall be content with these things.” ??? Of course, being content with what we h…

Important articleThe rise of bloodless medicine: how we treat those who cannot receive blood products for religious reasons or others To Carlton D. Mill, Joseph J. Shatzel and Thomas G. Deloughery The Discovery of the characterization of blood and the subsequent ability to infused blood safely has revolutionized medicine and has allowed people to survive lethal bleeding complications related to surgery, traumatic and non-traumatic injuries and even pregnancy. While the transfusion has been beneficial to many patients, there are persons who, for religious or other reasons, reject blood products. This, in addition to the growing knowledge of certain risks associ…

According to this text in "Shepherd book", page 84,85 woman in JW congregation are viewed as minor children, not entitled to hear information that are important for her marriage and family life and her life at all. JW elders look at them as a people of the second rank. Even a male underage child or teenager or young male/man, who is baptized, has a higher status than any sister, young or old, single or married, publisher, pioneer or missionary or anointed. Meeting With Marriage Mates 11. If the accused is a married sister, it is best to have her believing husband present for the hearing. He is her head, and his efforts to restore her and direct her can be …

According introductory words in "Shepherd book", this publication is "congregation property". What would be your answer on question -What is congregation? Who are members of congregation? By normal logic all JW members are congregation and by their membership (legality of membership come through baptism) in congregation are entitled to read this book and  to get to know the content of this book. But this is not how reality looks. Many, almost all "ordinary" members even doesn't know that this book or similar written instructions exist. Another shocking fact from the 2010 Letter to the elders come to daylight. Instruction to elders given by GB (or from some …

Good point. Watchtower’s governing body member, Anthony Morris, stated just recently that the “theocratic organization” receives its decisions or “decrees” from God. (JW broadcasting) He comments, “When that direction comes out to Branch committee members, or when it comes out to the congregations; If you want Jehovah’s blessing on you as an individual or family, certainly as an elder or congregation, it’d be best to ask Jehovah to help you understand it, but OBEY THE DECISION. JWs are being told that whether they understand Watchtower’s decrees or not, they must be obeyed. Jesus tells us how we are to discern what a true teaching is. Matt 7:15-20; Luke …

“But after you have suffered a little while, the God of all undeserved kindness, will himself finish your training. He will make you firm, he will make you strong.”– (1 Pet 5:8) – ??? We are likened to “earthen vessels”—fragile pots made of clay. (2 Cor. 4:7) We are weak because of inherited sin and imperfection. (Rom. 5:12) Left to ourselves, we are vulnerable to SatanÂ’s attacks. But as Christians, we are not without help. Despite our weaknesses, we are precious in GodÂ’s eyes. (Isa. 43:4) Moreover, Jehovah gives holy spirit to those asking him. (Luke 11:13) His spirit can give us “power beyond what is normal,” enabling us to cope with …

Armageddon—A Happy Beginning! ????????????? THE word “Armageddon” has its origin in the Hebrew expression “Har–Magedon,” or “Mountain of Megiddo.” It is found at Revelation 16:16, which states: “They gathered them together to the place that is called in Hebrew Har–Magedon.” Who are assembled to Armageddon, and why? Just two verses earlier, at Revelation 16:14, we read: “The kings of the entire inhabited earth” are gathered together “to the war of the great day of God the Almighty.” Armageddon cannot be just a conflict among earthly nations, since Revelation 16:14 states that “the kings of the entire inhabited earth” form a united front at…

Do You Long to See Loved Ones That Have Died? Notice what is written for us to think about this promise ~ ????????? John 11:24 “Martha said to him: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.” ??????????? -  “Last Day.” The Bible also refers to a “last day,” during which the resurrection of the dead is to take place. (Joh 6:39, 40, 44; 11:24; compare Da 12:13.) At John 12:48 this “last day” is associated with a time of judgment. Obviously, therefore, it denotes a time of a far more distant future than the end of the apostolic period.—Compare 1Th 4:15-17; 2Th 2:1-3; Re 20:4-6, 12. - Bible Speaks - https…
