“In memory of Carmella Clark, fine horse woman, star volunteer, generous friend.” That is the inscription for a bench that will look out at the horses and an open field near Monastery Stables in Mt. Airy dedicated to the legacy of Carmella Clark. Born in Philadelphia on June 17, 1953, Carmella Vernette Clark, a longtime Germantown resident and biochemist, died on Sept. 4, four days after suffering an inoperable brain hemorrhage. A service was held on Sept. 16 at the Kingdom Hall of JehovahÂ’s Witnesses Germantown, where her husband of 36 years, Mark Paulmier, is a minister. While at West Chester University working on her undergraduate degree, Clark learned that…

The heavens are my throne, and the earth is my footstool.—Isa. 66:1. Besides referring to the earth, the term “footstool” is also employed figuratively in the Hebrew Scriptures to describe the ancient temple used by the Israelites. (1 Chron. 28:2; Ps. 132:7) Located on the earth, the temple served as the center of true worship. For that reason, it was truly beautiful in JehovahÂ’s eyes and its very existence glorified the place for JehovahÂ’s feet. (Isa. 60:13) Today the center of true worship is no longer a literal temple on earth. There is, however, a spiritual temple, which glorifies Jehovah far more than any building. This is an arrangement that makes reconcili…

The name of God is being blasphemed among the nations because of you.—Rom. 2:24. What a privilege it is for us not only to know GodÂ’s personal name but also to bear it as “a people for his name.” (Acts 15:14; Isa. 43:10) We implore our heavenly Father: “Let your name be sanctified.” (Matt. 6:9) Your making such a request may move you to ask Jehovah to help you to avoid doing or saying anything that would dishonor his holy name. We do not want to be like some in the first century who did not practice what they preached, as mentioned in todayÂ’s text. What is needed for GodÂ’s name to be completely sanctified and cleared of all reproach? For that to happen, Jehova…

NEW! NOW AVAILABLE –Watchtower January 2018, the first of the new magazine program. The first of our new public magazines. Excellent. Like the way the topic flows throughout the magazine. Many good points that you can use in the ministry and as follow-up recreational vehicles. The back page also has a new format and seems to be useful. And also the woman on the train on the first page, also looks towards the end of the magazine. All ties together. Finally here, a wonderful addition to our teaching tools I'm so excited to start getting acquainted with this! It's almost like having a new brochure published every two months It is interesting to see …

"I form light and create darkness, I Jehovah, am doing all these things." (Isaiah 48:7) ~ Where Does Your Light Come From?~ ?????? Light from the sun is a combination of colors, with each color having a different wavelength. The color of an object is determined by the particular portion of the light reflected by its surface. Thus light furnishes the many hues that delight the eye of man. It is also essential for earthly life—plant, animal, and human—to continue. ?????? The Source of Light. Jehovah God is the Former of light and the Creator of darkness. (Isa 45:7) ?????? It was on the first creative day that he said: “Let light com…

Jesus' kindness to woman's flow of blood of 30 years  A brothers personal notes taken from a talk given by brother William Malenfant of Brooklyn Bethel. Please read the account found in Mark 5:25-34 (New World Translation) before continuing.  (Mark 5:25-34) 25 Now there was a woman subject to a flow of blood twelve years, 26 and she had been put to many pains by many physicians and had spent all her resources and had not been benefited but, rather, had got worse. 27 When she heard the things about Jesus, she came behind in the crowd and touched his outer garment; 28 for she kept saying: “If I touch just his outer garments I shall get well.” 29 And immed…

CAMEL ? Use From Early Bible Times. The first Bible mention of the camel relates to AbrahamÂ’s temporary residence in Egypt, where he acquired a number of these beasts of burden. (Ge 12:16) When AbrahamÂ’s faithful servant was sent to Mesopotamia to procure a wife for Isaac, a train of ten camels, with all sorts of gifts, accompanied him. (Ge 24:10) It was to a camel caravan of Ishmaelites bound for Egypt that Joseph was sold by his half brothers.—Ge 37:25-28. ???? Job is introduced as “the greatest of all the Orientals.” His material possessions included 3,000 camels, and following the test of his integrity, Jehovah blessed Job, so much so that he cam…

Is Shunning a Violation of Human Rights? There is a quote routinely parroted by apostates accusing our organization of "violating" human rights when former members are shunned. Here is the quote they use from Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: "Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance." - Emphasis Ours. Basically, they claim that somehow shunning violates their freedom of conscience, thought, and…

No More Crying or Pain! ????? All Things Made New Song 14 (Sing to Jehovah) (Revelation 21:1-5) 1. “The signs of the times” prove GodÂ’s rule has begun. In glory enthroned sits JehovahÂ’s Son. The battle in heaven heÂ’s fought and won, And soon on the earth shall GodÂ’s will be done. (CHORUS) Rejoice! For GodÂ’s tent is with men, And he himself resides with them. No more will there be pain or crying, No sorrowing nor any dying; For God has said: ‘IÂ’m making all things new.Â’ These words faithful are and true. 2. ~? Is Your Love so Great You Would Die for Someone?~? God Loved Us So Much First~ “Love can be known only from the actions it prompts. GodÂ’s love is seen in the gift of His Son, I John 4:9, 10. But obviously this is not the love of complacency, or affection, that is, it was not drawn out by any excellency in its objects, Rom. 5:8. It was an exercise of the Divine will in deliberate choice, made without assignable cause save that which lies in the nature of God Himself, cp. Deut. 7:7, 8.” A·ga?pe, therefore, carries the meaning of love guided, or governed, by principle. It may or may not include affection and fondness. That a·ga?pe may include affecti…

Courts have no business reviewing religious decisions

Barry W. Bussey: Last week, the Supreme Court was asked to do something courts never do: review the solely religious decision of a church On November 2, the Supreme Court of Canada was asked to do something Canadian courts never do: review the solely religious decision of a church community. Until now, the courts have recoiled from getting involved in religious disputes—and for good reason. The case involves Randy Wall, who was dismissed from a Jehovah’s Witness church for failing to repent of his religious offences: getting drunk on two occasions and verbally abusing his wife. Wall’s appeal to another church entity was unsuccessful. He then appealed to a court …

She kept saying: “If I touch just his outer garments, I will get well.”—Mark 5:28. Realizing that it was his Father, Jehovah, who had healed the woman, Jesus treated her kindly, saying: “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed from your grievous sickness.” (Mark 5:34) How kind Jesus is! We see that he has a warm place in his heart for those who suffer from illnesses. Satan wants to convince us that we are unloved and worthless. By his miracles, Jesus clearly proved that he truly cares about us and our problems. What a sympathetic King and High Priest! (Heb. 4:15) It may not be easy for us to understand the feelings of those who suffer f…
