My grandchildren are coming over in a few minutes, so just finished a snowman. A few people have already stopped to take a picture of it.

Is "dynamic energy" a Proper Translation In Isaiah 40:26? In various Watchtower publications the writer argues that the phrase "dynamic energy" that the New World Translation uses in Isaiah 40:26 implies that God inspired Isaiah with divine knowledge of Albert Einstein's most famous equation E=mc^2, i.e., that matter and energy are equivalent. But is this a valid claim? I will show that it is not. The 1998 Watchtower book Is There a Creator Who Cares About You? contains a typical example of this argument in chapter 6, "An Ancient Creation Record--Can You Trust It?" (pp. 90-91). After explaining what Einstein's equation means, that matter and energy are intimatel…

This subject has most probably been here before, but it tends to cross my mind regularly. It would be nice to approach it from the scriptural viewpoint, not the Watchtower viewpoint. Luke 17 v 20 & 21. On being asked by the Pharisees when the Kingdom of God was coming, he answered them: “The Kingdom of God is not coming with striking observableness; 21 nor will people say, ‘See here!’ or, ‘There!’ For look! the Kingdom of God is in your midst.” Now this was Jesus' words before he was put to death. But after His resurrection he told his disciples (Matthew 28 v 18 ) Jesus approached and spoke to them, saying: “All authority has been given me in…

Part 1. In this part we will meet few quotes in article from one WT magazine which describes administrative functions in WTJWorg past. Many of them stayed till today. Please be free to comment. https://www.forum18.org/archive.php?article_id=2622 Shia Muslim, Jehovah's Witness, and Protestant religious communities have all had recent applications to exist refused. In many cases the excuse used has been refusals by local authorities to provide documents as part of the complex, time-consuming and expensive application process. In some cases registration applications have led to reprisals, such as police demands that Protestant Christians renounce their faith. Just as in 2019 and in previous years, Jehovah's Witness communities have been refused registration in 2020 in Tashkent and Fergana. The excuse the regime has used is the refusal of local authorities…

https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/churches-fears-for-conversion-bill-are-unfounded-20201215-p56no3.html I think this article puts a bit of balance on things. The Victorian government’s bill to ban LGBTQ+ conversion practices has raised confusion and disquiet in some religious communities about potential threats to their religious freedoms. These fears are quickly assuaged by a plain reading of the bill and the statement of compatibility with the Charter of Human Rights. The Victorian bill carefully weighs the protection of religious freedom against the protection of the rights of LGBTQ+ people and is the product of significant co…

Once again the 607 topic branches out into a side shoot. @Anna and @Srecko Sostar are talking about the 'instruction' or 'false instruction' from the Leaders of the Watchtower / JW Org. @Arauna has mentioned how things are going from bad to worse, and how governments will ban Christianity. So. what you have right now is an Organisation earthwide, governed / controlled, and directed by 8 men in America. They are an easy target for governments and opposition. Whereas what I've suggested will be in place is the True Anointed Ones, living in different countries around the earth. God through Christ could easily communicate with the Anointed, via angels and …

As long as Jehovah is patiently allowing people the time and opportunity to become Christ’s disciples, we want to do all we can to help them progress to baptism as quickly as possible. Time is fast running out!— ( Threat ? ) 7 As the teacher, you need to prepare well for each Bible study session. You can begin by reading the material and looking up the scriptures. Get the main points clearly in mind. Think about the title of the lesson, the subheadings, the study questions, the “rea…

I remember the first big wave of closures of many Bethel around the world a few years ago. That was just before my complete departure from JWorg in 2015. Today I stumbled upon another in a series of sales of so-called “god-dedicated” JW buildings. http://www.stuff.co.nz/auckland/local-news/9124458/Witnesses-sell-Elim-buys Elim Christian Centre is a contemporary, relevant and multicultural church established over 30 years ago. The release of 28 Witnesses follows the freeing of 20 Pentecostal and evangelical Christians who had been imprisoned for their faith. NAIROBI, Kenya (RNS) — In Eritrea, members of the Jehovah’s Witnesses group who had been serving long prison sentences were set free on Friday (Dec. 4), a surprising development for the east African country, where freedom of religion or belief is severely suppressed. The denomination announced that two women and 26 men had been freed after spending between five and 26 years each in prison. The group, as well as another 24 Witnesses who are still in prison, had been incarcerated for their faith. “Several of those jailed are ma…

AS the '607' topic was going way off topic I thought it best to start a new one. Jesus directed His followers to preach the 'Good News of the Kingdom'. JW's pretend to do this but.................... In the '607' topic there has been much debate (off topic) about true teachings or false teachings. Some JW's only believe some of the GB's teachings and just let other teachings go by. Some of the JWs call this being a mature Christian. Other folks call it being physically in / mentally out. I would call it being physically in but spiritually out. BUT here's the rub. What does a JW do if they do not believe some teachings from the GB, but that same JW has …

“Thriller” remains one of Michael Jackson’s most popular songs and music videos — however, not everyone was a fan. After dealing with some backlash to the video, Jackson wanted to destroy it. Here’s why the “Thriller” video upset some people in Jackson’s life — and why he ultimately didn’t destroy it. How the King of Pop reacted to the backlash Jackson’s reaction to the backlash was pointed. He almost had the footage of “Thriller” destroyed. However, the director of the video — John Landis — hid the canister with the footage in it so Jackson could not find it. Ultimately, Jackson decided not to destroy the footage — but he still had negative things to say about …

OUR YEARTEXT FOR 2020: “Go, therefore, and make disciples . . . , baptizing them.”—MATT. 28:19. https://www.jw.org/en/library/magazines/watchtower-study-january-2020/go-therefore-and-make-disciples/ 3. Jesus said: “Go, therefore, and make disciples of people of all the nations, . . . teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you.” True to Jesus’ words, today the disciple-making work is in full swing. Think of it! Nearly 300,000 people each year get baptized as Jehovah’s Witnesses and become disciples of Jesus Christ! 21 During 2020, our yeartext will help us to focus on improving the quality of our disciple-making work. Singer Toni Braxton has one remorse — not partying and playing around more when she was younger. “I remorse not having more sex when I was younger,” Braxton informed The Guardian. “I ought to have drank more. I ought to have partied more. Smoked more, even. I feel my non secular upbringing stopped me doing numerous issues that I ought to have performed. It’s not a superb take a look at the age I’m now. The best way it really works is you try this stuff in your 20s and 30s after which in your 40s you’ve earned sufficient to pay for the remedy.” Braxton grew up in a number of religions — all of which seemed down on premarital sex. “After I was seven, my house…

Anna said: I was taught the same thing in the late 1960s about 1975. I don't believe I said in 2000, but by 2000. If not, that's what I should have said, because that's what the first two references explicitly say: "a work that would be completed in our century" and "within our twentieth century, the "battle in the day of Jehovah" will begin". Can't get any clearer than that. "Insinuated" is the wrong word for what those charlatans did. Nope, it's very specific. "Within the decade ending in 2020 Britain will be out of the EU." Nothing open about that. Two things: Samuel didn't think this up by himself -- the Society taught him. The …

https://7news.com.au/politics/redress-groups-risk-losing-charity-status-c-1659571 We know this is not actually new news but is just an update Institutions refusing to join the national child abuse redress scheme face losing charity status through new laws planned by the Morrison government. The government has for months threatened groups failing to join the abuse scheme that they risked losing their charity status and would be banned from receiving federal funding. The wheels are turning on that threat, with the government planning to introduce draft legislation to parliament in the year's final sitting fortnight to tweak charity laws. Social Service…

It was a huge no-no while I was growing up. So bad in fact that Jehovah would kill everyone who cooked a turkey and held a thanksgiving feast with family and friends. Is commemorating Thanks giving day still a death sentence in the Jehovah's witnesses brains these days?

https://www.myjoyonline.com/news/politics/jehovahs-witnesses-will-not-enjoy-freebies-under-my-government-akua-donkor/ The flagbearer of the Ghana Freedom Party, Akua Donkor, says since the religious beliefs of Jehovah’s Witnesses do not allow them to exercise their franchise, they will not enjoy any benefit under her presidency. Justifying her decision, Madam Donkor explained that because they have refused to exercise their civic duty, they don’t deserve to enjoy any freebies from the State. Therefore, should she win the December 7 general election, her first action will be to expel all Jehovah’s Witnesses from the civil and public service and also prevent …

If the organization did not actually prophesy the end in 1925 and 1975, then how come so many Witnesses left the faith immediately afterwards? ("They lost roughly three-quarters of the movement between 1925 and 1928, then suffered huge losses after 1975, when the end didn't come as they had implied over and over again," said Jim Penton, an ex-Witness who writes entries on Jehovah's Witnesses for the Encyclopedia Americana.)

I thoght this was / is an intersting article. https://www.patheos.com/blogs/secularworldbyaai/2020/11/is-religion-a-choice/ Is Religion a Choice? Not initially, no. You are not offered a choice. Many of us are fed our parent’s choice of faith in the same way that we are given their preferred make of baby milk… Maybe you would choose if you were shown the options but you don’t have that privilege: nobody gives you a menu of religions to select from. Not offering a choice is part of the Get-em-Young strategy. It begins, when you are newly born and can’t voice an objection, with a tribal branding ceremony, which may include being plunged in …

https://www.christianpost.com/news/village-threatens-expel-protestant-families-beliefs-mexico.html Two Protestant families from indigenous communities in central Mexico have been living with no access to water, drainage and government benefit programs for a year after they were ostracized for refusing to renounce their faith, and now the community leaders are threatening to expel them, according to a report. The two families in La Mesa Limantitla village in the Huasteca region of Hidalgo state, who had earlier been told they would face forced displacement if they did not give their financial contributions for local Roman Catholic festivals or participate in thei…

f 21 Jehovah's Witnesses convicted of "extremism" charges since late July 2020, six were given jail terms and 13 suspended sentences. Receiving a suspended sentence means a convicted person must live under restrictions specified by the judge, regularly register with probation authorities, and avoid conviction for any other offence during the probationary period or risk being sent to prison. "A suspended sentence means that you need to live under stress for many years," Jehovah's Witnesses note. A total of 21 Jehovah's Witnesses have been convicted of "extremism" charges since late July 2020. They include the oldest Jehovah's Witness yet to be found guilty of alleged …
