A NSW court has resolved a dispute over fig trees between the Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Seven Hills and a married couple next door, in a case involving "pipecam" footage and a flurry of letters over the fence. In a decision on September 29, the reasons for which were published this month, Land and Environment Court Acting Commissioner John Douglas found roots in the couple's sewer and and stormwater pipes originated "from one or both of the fig trees" growing in the neighbouring Jehovah's Witnesses property. The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses shares a common boundary with the couple's house and the congregation had planted trees in a garden bed…

https://thenewdaily.com.au/news/2020/10/22/child-abuse-institutional-care/ The Jehovah’s Witnesses refused to sign up to the national redress scheme, opting instead to handle historic sex abuse claims in-house – but alleged victims say they are still being ignored by the church. Although the deadline for institutions to sign up has been extended until December, the Jehovah’s Witnesses is the only national organisation to declare they will not be joining. Ms Kaput says she has not received a response from the church. “We spent all this money on the royal commission, it took such a long time, we got the results, now there’s nothing,” she said. …

This was made from a Google Spreadsheet which will be shared between players so that a person with the link can edit it. (Will be sent by PM to whomever wants to play, and each updated screen can be displayed here after every valid play is made.) After any play, the player can tally up their points and will need to cross out the letters they used from the letter "pool." The first two items are just an example. Let's say the first player plays QUETZAL in such a way that they get 120 points. (Double letter score on the Q and double word, and a 50 point bonus for using all their tiles.) Let's say the next player plays XI in such a way that the X counts for 16 (double le…

Followers of The Church of Almighty God, Falun Gong, and Jehovah’s Witnesses are kept in camps until they renounce their faith and betray fellow believers. by Chang Xin A transformation through education camp in Xinjiang’s Yining county. According to a document issued in 2018 by the government of a locality in Xinjiang, members of three banned religious groups—The Church of Almighty God (CAG), Falun Gong, and Jehovah’s Witnesses—must be sent to transformation through education camps and kept indefinitely until they have been “transformed,” i.e., become atheist. Their release depends on whether they have implemented five musts. These are a written pledge to …

"I like boys, I like girls, I like both," the actress explained. "I've always kind of gone my own little way, I'm the rogue girl in Hollywood who's just kind of made my own path and not really cared what people think too much." When she was asked what her parents thought about her sexuality, Rodriguez revealed she grew up in a house of Jehovah's Witnesses. In the past, she's said her mother's side of the family all practiced the faith, though she doesn't anymore. "Birthdays and celebrating Halloween are evil. I didn't get to watch Disney movies until I was in my teens because of all the witchcraft," she explained. "My family, I think, at the end of the day they …

An enormous and long-in-the-works block-long development in Dumbo keeps chugging along. Located at 85 Jay Street, and called Front & York, the 21-story, 728-unit building will be part rental, part condo and have two swimming pools, one set aside for owners and one for renters, filings show. It topped out in July, according to New York Yimby. The windows are going in and have reached floors two through eight all around the building, a recent visit to the site revealed. The ground floor, usually the last to finish, is not as far along, but the arches facing Jay Street are visible. https://www.brownstoner.com/development/brooklyn-develop…

A spate of suspicious fires within three hours in Christchurch overnight appear to be linked, police say. About 3am on Monday, firefighters received multiple calls about a large blaze at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, in Waitikiri Drive, Parklands. A spokesman said the building had not been used for congregations since March due to Covid-19, with meetings held online. “The building was well alight when we arrived. It’s a decent-sized building,” she said. “It has since been extinguished. It’s considered possibly suspicious and is being investigated.” Half an hour later, the alarm was raised at Christchurch Transitional Cathedral, in Hereford …

Today I am 71 years old. And today I gave thanks and praise to Almighty God through Jesus Christ for either keeping me alive or allowing me to live this long. I gave praise for life itself and for the wonderful creation (which many people call nature) around me. My wife bought me a card and put up a couple of balloons and made me an apple cake. No visitors, no fuss, but just praise to God and a little bit of fun. It felt wonderful not to be under inspection from those Elders of the CCJW. Not to have to OBEY the man made rules of the Governing Body. Not to worry about some other JW grassing me up to the Elders for 'celebrating' the age i have reached. …

Tobias Neilson, 38, was last week jailed for more than ten years for historical abuse of three girls, one of whom was just five when he began his reign of terror upon her. Preston Crown Court heard how Clitheroe man Neilson was 13 when he started kissing, groping and touching his victims, with his sustained offending carrying on into his early 20s. If we were to analyze the aura of leadership in the organization, what do we find? We find an ongoing history of false and failed teachings, which the scriptures refer to as “empty words”, and “bad fruit”. Each one is evidence of spiritual darkness. (Matt 12 :33-37; Rom 16:18; Matt 6:22,23; John 3:19; Eph 5:6) We find its governing leaders admitting to having no spiritual inspiration from God – more evidence of darkness. (Micah 3:6; 2 Pet 1:20,21) We also see that no matter the teaching or decree, it must be accepted and obeyed, according to a certain prominent leader who presently is receiving some ‘heat’ in the internet world. JWs abide by this rule, no…

A Russian judge on Friday imposed an eight-year suspended prison sentence for a 24-year-old Jehovah’s Witness and a seven-year suspended sentence for his 27-year-old wife, capping a week that marked some relief amid continued persecution for the faith in Russia. An international spokesman for Jehovah’s Witnesses expressed gratitude that “this young couple will not need to be separated by prison bars” after the judge’s decision in Kostroma, 200 miles northeast of Moscow. The conviction comes a day after another judge in Ulyanovsk, on the Volga River, convicted six members of the persecuted faith. Those sentences were also suspended. “We are pleased that they were…

(RNS) — A day after a Jehovah’s Witness became the first to be acquitted in Russia since a 2017 ruling declared his faith group “extremist,” six Russian members received suspended sentences for gathering for worship. The developments come a week after dozens of scholars from across the globe called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to end persecution of Jehovah’s Witnesses. The pacifist faith organization said six men and women were given suspended sentences ranging from 2 ½ to four years; in addition, they were given orders of “restricted freedom” from seven to 10 months in a court in the western city of Ulyanovsk. Freedom restrictions can include limitations…

''Has your desire to put Jehovah first been tested during this pandemic? You lost your job and you searched for another one. Finally, after a long search, you found one but it was a job that would require you to miss all your meetings and field service. What a temptation to take that job! You've been out of work for months. You felt helpless because a family member is supposed to provide for his family. It would take a lot of faith for you to refuse that job. Pray to Jehovah and then wait. Hold on a little longer to see what Jehovah would work out for you.'' Translation: "Lost your job, brothers? Keep praying! Whatever you do, don't miss a meeting and kee…

Cardinal Joseph Zen (陳日君) fled the communist takeover of China as a teenager and found sanctuary in Hong Kong, a bastion of religious freedom that he now fears could disappear under Beijing’s tightening grip. The 88-year-old former bishop of Hong Kong has spent his retirement looking on with increasing alarm at the Vatican’s embrace of Beijing — and the imposition of a sweeping security law has only heightened his fears. “As I can see in the whole world, where you take away the freedoms of the people, religious freedoms also disappear,” Zen said from Salesian Mission he joined as a novice seven decades ago. Hong Kong has been a haven for faiths both before …

When the knock came at the door at six in the morning, Sergei and Maria Silaev feared the worst. The couple first thought it was the Russian police, coming to arrest them for being Jehovah’s Witnesses. But it was the upstairs neighbour, telling them there was a water leak above their apartment. They were relieved, but after that had many anxious nights. "I couldn’t sleep," said Maria. From that moment on they knew they needed to leave Russia. The Silaevs life changed in 2017 when the Russian Supreme Court labelled their church an extremist organization and banned all Jehovah’s Witnesses organizations and gatherings in that country — a ruling that force…

In nine cases concluded in September at the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), Azerbaijan admitted it violated freedom of religion or belief and the ECtHR has closed the cases. Yet, as lawyer Khalid Agaliyev noted, despite many ECtHR judgments against Azerbaijan, "we don't see any follow-up from these judgments. We want the general human rights situation to change under the influence of these judgments. Unfortunately, this is not happening". In nine cases concluded in September at the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) in Strasbourg, Azerbaijan admitted that it violated the rights of people to freedom of religion or belief. The regime pledged to pay compensa…

A group of 50 religion scholars from around the world is calling on President Vladimir Putin and his administration to end the persecution of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia. The scholars' statement, released Thursday, follows the Center for Studies on New Religions’ one-day conference, “Jehovah’s Witnesses and Their Opponents: Russia, the West, and Beyond,” held online from Vilnius, Lithuania, in early September. “As institutions and individuals concerned with religious freedom, we have followed the events in Russia with increasing alarm,” the CESNUR statement reads. Among those events is a reported armed raid of 110 homes of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia’s …

We are sitting during the first lock-down which may last at least till march next year but there is talk that it will last until all are vaccinated. By that time the world economy will be restarted in a new format to suit UN agenda 2030. Millions will die of hunger, suicide, job losses all over the world. A controlling form of scientific (technocratic) UN government will later take over and lead us to the wonderful situation where they can call peace and security. The next milestones for agenda 21 and 2030 is a new money system by 2022; 2025, and 2030 dates they have set for certain goals/ milestones. By 2050 they want the 4th industrial revolution to be com…

A day after the Russian FSB carried out armed searches in occupied Sevastopol, four Jehovah’s Witnesses have been arrested and remanded in custody for two months. Although Yevhen Zhukov; Volodymyr Maladyka; Volodymyr Sakada and Ihor Schmidt are accused of ‘organizing the work of an extremist organization’ (under Article 282.2 § 1 of Russia’s criminal code), the charges pertain solely to their peaceful practising of their faith, and all are undoubtedly political prisoners. Early on 1 October, the FSB and other enforcement officers burst into the homes of nine Jehovah’s Witnesses in Sevastopol. Five people were detained – the men now in custody and Volodymyr Maladyka…

The report details human rights violations in Crimea by the Russian occupying power against Crimean Tatars, including torture, forced confessions and the suppression of religious practice for several groups, including Protestants, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Muslims and Messianic groups. Ukraine’s First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Emine Dzhaparova corroborates the U.N. report. As a Crimean Tartar herself, she is particularly critical of Russia’s illegal annexation of Crimea and of its alleged repressive actions to shut down the voices of dissent. https://www.voanews.com/europe/rights-violations-rampant-parts-ukraine-un-report-says
