Alternative nonmilitary community service is better than prison, economically, as real benefits accrue from those who refuse to go to war. South Korea’s Unjust Treatment of Dong-hyuk Shin. Photo: Courtesy of jw.org, used with permission. Since 1953 the Republic of South Korea—one of Asia’s most advanced democracies—has severely punished #conscientious objectors. In 64 years, more than 19,000 young male Jehovah’s Witnesses there have served prison terms totaling more than 36,300 years of accumulated confinement. Presently 393 are serving sentence, typically 18 months to two years. “The New York Times” says 600-700 go to prison annually and comprise mor…

WHILE CONDUCTING A BIBLE STUDY THE OTHER DAY, A QUESTION RELATED TO THE RESURRECTION CAME UP. IT HAD TO DO WITH MATTHEW 27 CHAPTER VERSES 52 AND 53. THE STUDENT WANTED TO KNOW WHO WERE THE HOLY ONES WHO HAD FALLEN ASLEEP IN DEATH, WERE THEY RESURRECTED? IN VERSE 53 WHO ARE THE PEOPLE COMING OUT FROM AMONG THE TOMBS AFTER HIS BEING RAISED UP? LAST BUT NOT LEAST, WHO IS BEING IDENTIFIED AS "HIS BEING RAISED UP?" NOT HAVING A SOUND ANSWER THAT WOULD SATISFY THE STUDENT, I SAID THAT I WOULD FIND AN ANSWER FOR HIM. I NEED YOUR HELP IN ADDRESSING HIS QUESTIONS.

Jehovah afflicted the king, and he remained a leper until the day of his death.—2 Ki. 15:5. https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/dt/r1/lp-e/2017/6/9 Suppose clarifying details concerning King Azariah (King Uzziah) had not been included in God’s Word, as is the case with other abbreviated Bible accounts? (2 Ki. 15:7, 32; 2 Chron. 26:3-5, 16-21) Would you be inclined to question the righteousness of God? Or would you reason that the Bible contains enough information to assure us that Jehovah always does what is right and is, in fact, the very standard of what is right and what is wrong? (Deut. 32:4) As we get to know Jehovah better as a Person, our love and appreciation for …

This video in german private TVstation from this May in which a cellsaver is presented and explained and a blood saving new system is proposed. http://www.rtl-hessen.de/public/videos/2017-05-18-maz-blut-01-112351185.mp4 Further a new blood saving system, namely some tubes or pipes are propagated which would save blood in the process. These pipes are smaller and only need 1/2 of human blood for the cell saver process. This is necessary in case of anemia. No blood bags are visible at the patients beds any longer. And there is a good reason for that! "DANGEROUS BLOOD" is the title of the video. 'Risks are like at a mini-transplantation: body cells go fro…

In showing honor to one another, take the lead.—Rom. 12:10. https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/dt/r1/lp-e/2017/6/8 An elder should start his training of another brother by taking time to develop a relaxed atmosphere and a bond of friendship with him. The specific steps an elder takes will differ somewhat from land to land, depending on local circumstances and customs. Yet, no matter where you live, if you as a busy elder set aside time to spend with a learner, you are telling him, in effect, “You are important to me.” That unspoken message will be clearly understood and deeply valued by willing learners everywhere. A successful teacher is someone who not only loves to tr…

The Duck & the Devil.... There was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm. He was given a slingshot to play with out in the woods. He practiced in the woods, but he could never hit the target. Getting a little discouraged, he headed back for dinner. As he was walking back he saw Grandma's pet duck. Just out of impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head, and killed it. He was shocked and grieved. In a panic, he hid its dead body in the wood pile, only to see his sister watching! Sally had seen it all, but she said nothing. After lunch the next day Grandma said, "Sally, let's wash the dishes." But Sally said, "Gr…

Incredible or who helped her ? After finishing my 2 hour shift at Infostand, I was replaced by 2 pioneer sisters. They wanted a double layer on the stand. About one and a half hours before the end, the brother, who was looking after the assembly and dismantling, called me and told me that he had dismantled the stand. I asked him what had happened. He said that a woman of over 90, with her walker, had come to the booth and asked about Maulbeerallee and if she knew where she was. By the way, she did not come to the stand by herself. A man had brought the weakened woman to our booth, asking her to give her something to drink. Then he suddenly disappeared. Now ther…

"Our eyes are toward you."—2 Chron. 20:12 ? ? How do you make weighty decisions in life? Do you perhaps decide first and then pray to Jehovah to bless the decision you have made? ? ? Consider what Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, did when the combined forces of the Moabites and the Ammonites came up against him to wage war. “Jehoshaphat became afraid and set his face to search for Jehovah,” says the Bible. He declared a fast for all Judah and collected the people together “to inquire of Jehovah.” Then he stood up in the congregation of Judah and of Jerusalem and prayed. In part, he pleaded: “O our God, will you not execute judgment upon them? For in us th…

"The wife should have deep respect for her husband."—Eph. 5:33. ????? Making Christian Marriage a Success ????? Jehovah, the Creator of marriage, wants each couple to have a happy and successful married life, so he has given wise advice in his Word, the Bible. (Proverbs 18:22) Even so, the Bible tells us that imperfect humans who get married will have problems, or “tribulation in their flesh.” (1 Corinthians 7:28) ????? The Bible teaches that love is an important quality. But there are different kinds of love that couples need to show in a marriage. For example, they need to show tender affection as well as romantic love. And if they have ch…

The Grand Artist—Jehovah! - ??? When you Look Up Say His Name! He Will Listen! “ARTISTS paint countless sunrises and sunsets, and their works sell for hundreds, even thousands, of dollars. ??? Yet, Jehovah God, the Grand Artist and Originator of sunsets and sunrises, gives us one each day—free. The originals far surpass the copies. Should that not give us cause to appreciate him as the Creator?” Wrote the psalmist: “Praise Jehovah from the heavens . . . Praise him, you sun and moon. Praise him, all you stars of light. . . . Let them praise the name of Jehovah; for he himself commanded, and they were created.”(Psalm 148:1-5) ??? (Psalm 113:3) "Fr…

A Guidebook for the Blessing of All Mankind! - What you May Not Know will Surprise You! - Let God's Word Open to You Doors You Never Knew! ~ His Word is Alive! ~ ??? (Hebrews 4:12) . . ."For the word of God is alive and exerts power and is sharper than any two-edged sword and pierces even to the dividing of soul and spirit, and of joints and [their] marrow, and [is] able to discern thoughts and intentions of [the] heart." NOTWITHSTANDING the opinion of many, the Bible is a most extraordinary book. The New Encyclopædia Britannica calls it “probably the most influential collection of books in human history.” This is certainly not an overstatement. Let us see why t…

Before reggaeton even had a name, El General offered an escape in pulsating rhythms and explicit sexual innuendo. We may be at peak reggaeton. Justin Bieber is celebrating—or appropriating—the genre, depending on whom you ask. Spotify's wildly popular "Baila Reggaeton" playlist brings big followings to obscure artists, seemingly overnight. LGBQT reggaeton parties like Mami Slut draw new followers every week. And we all know it's just a matter of time before Drizzy drops a fire reggaeton record. But before reggaeton even had a name, for many Latinx kids, it was the sound of our coming of age, mainly at quinceañeras. We didn't know we were dancing to the next…

Russia's security service told Russian news agencies on June 6 that it raided the Church of Scientology's branch in St. Petersburg as part of a probe into illegal entrepreneurship, extremism, and incitement of hatred. The raid on the U.S.-based church comes after Russia's Supreme Court in April issued a ruling banning Jehovah's Witnesses and seizing their property, with the justice ministry calling the Christian evangelical movement an "extremist organization." An FSB security service spokeswoman said it raided the church's buildings and also the homes of church members. The FSB said the probe was initially launched into the church's earnings from selling e…

Rahab and her family being rescued out of Jericho Digital art ????? Anonymous (I did not paint it) This is a beautiful illustration depicting the moment when Rahab was rescued along with her family due to her obediently following the instruction of the Hebrew spies. Notice the color harmonies of the elements as well as the unifying effect of color due to the color of the light source. Also, notice the simplified yet effective treatment of the background elements. The aerial perspective allows the viewer focus on the main characters while creating an illusion of depth from the background. #edsalazarfineart #societyartwork #jw #tg #illustration
