The Dark Lord has made his appearance and people who agree with him in many particulars are keeping an unusually low profile. It is probably because they do not want to inadvertently say something wrong and have him find their lack of faith disturbing. Case in point is @James Thomas Rook Jr.. Normally, a mention of climate change will trigger a tirade from him as to how it is a masterful left wing hoax. Normally a negative mention of Trump will unleash torrents of praise for him from his corner. This time, however, not a peep. Well...there is a bit of cheerleading for Trump—you cannot completely erase the spots of a leopard—but he does not pursue it. He and @JW Insid…

https://www.therockymountaingoat.com/2019/12/new-shelter-for-women-children-in-valemount/ New shelter for women, children in Valemount It marked almost 20 years to the day that she fled her husband with a year and a half old child, pregnant with a second child. For leaving, she was excommunicated from her Jehovah Witness church and no longer allowed contact with her family. “I was not only on my own with two babies, but I had no family support,” she said. “If it wasn’t for community, I would have been lost.” Thoughts on this please. I have read that women have been told to return to their husbands even if the husbands are violent. Does anyon…

In view of the foregoing, what can we conclude? When Jesus comes for judgment during the great tribulation, he will find that the faithful slave has been loyally dispensing timely spiritual food to the domestics. Jesus will then delight in making the second appointment—over all his belongings. Those who make up the faithful slave will get this appointment when they receive their heavenly reward, becoming corulers with Christ. - https://www.jw.org/en/library/magazines/w20130715/who-is-faithful-discreet-slave/ “All his belongings” over which the “faithful and discreet slave” class is appointed must refer to all the spiritual things that belong to him on earth in connec…

If Bethel was in the east and not the west: Maybe theocratic warfare would not be so much like John-Wayne—hardening your forehead so the lout throwing a punch breaks his fist on it, a la Ezekiel: “Look! I have made your face exactly as hard as their faces and your forehead exactly as hard as their foreheads. Like a diamond, harder than flint, I have made your forehead” (Ezekiel 3:8-9) Why should everyone have hard heads? Maybe they should be more like those of eastern martial arts—duck the punch and the big slob’s own momentum sends him hurtling off-balance, and as he stumbles by you kick him in the rear. You’re better off yielding than resisting. “Do …

And they sing a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and open its seals, for you were slaughtered and with your blood you bought people for God out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, 10 and you made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God, and they are to rule as kingsr over the earth.”Rev 5:9,10 - NWT As a JW, this sounded accurate to me, since it fit the supporting doctrine that the “144,000” will rule strictly from heaven – “over” the earth...not within its vicinity, but from the spiritual realm. What I have since learned about this scripture and Christ’s truth regarding where the anointed will be “ruling” from, has been an impo…

What jobs do you jw's want in the new system? Gathering up all the dead bodies and burning them? Cleaning up all the destroyed buildings and rebuilding? Welcoming and categorizing the hundreds of billions of people that have been resurrected? So what is your dream job in the new system of things?

666 - The Mark of the Beast -What Does It Mean? 6??6??6?? 666—Not Just a Puzzle "Nobody might be able to buy or sell except a person having the mark, the name of the wild beast or the number of its name. Here is where wisdom comes in: Let the one that has intelligence calculate the number of the wild beast, for it is a man's number; and its number is six hundred and sixty-six." (Revelation 13:17, 18) FEW Bible topics have evoked as much interest and concern as the prophecy about the mysterious mark, or name, of "the wild beast"—the number 666. 6??6??6?? On television and the Internet, as well as in movies, books, and magazines, the mark of the beast has …

I've been out for awhile... but I hear of many current JW's referring to themselves as part of some "Hailstone Message". Can someone clarify what it is they mean?

A previous similar topic ran on for too many pages without getting back to the original point. But several points were brought up there for further consideration. Perhaps we can pick up some of them here, too. The original point was supposed to be about a certain interpretation of Revelation 11 from some comments about the Bible reading last week. Caution: my own commentary will likely seem critical of the interpretation given by the Watchtower publications, for reasons that I will try to make clear. So here's the basic topic this time, based on the Revelation 10-12 and the Midweek meeting material: *** Text for Tuesday, December 10, 2019 *** December 9-1…

So if this is the basis for your belief, then probably what you'll want to do is first of all find out which bible book your foundational scripture is in. (It's Exodus by the way.) Ex 1:6 - Eventually Joseph died, and also all his brothers and all that generation. It's not a complicated scripture. Let me ask you this. If you die in 2017 and all your brothers and all your generation also die at some point, what does "generation" mean if you don't impose any weirdness on the text? Do your precise birth and death times change the fundamental meaning of the word generation? Of course there are overlaps in a "generation". The only possible way…

A message to young people in this weeks Watchtower Study paragraph 12: How to use the website jw.org to guide you answering a peer asking “Why do you believe in god?” The answer to that question can and should not be guided. If the question was about the flood or the end of the world then yes, use a textbook answer that can be “researched” on the website. But a personal question like that shouldn’t need to be guided from any outside source. If you have a real faith or belief in a higher power then you wouldn’t need an outside source to help you explain that.

We had Farmer Mort over to the house following his public talk. Before eating, we made him take the City Slicker’s Quiz: If you want to eat, identify all eight items: 1. Credit card 2. Necktie 3. Shoe polish 4. Pictures of Wegmans (where food comes from) 5. Roll of toilet paper (replaces Sears catalog) 6. Kitchen faucet (where water comes from) 7. Refrigerator (where cold comes from) 8. Stove (where fire comes from) We did this as payback because Farmer Mort had made everyone take the Farmer’s Quiz at that Grad Party on the Farm. “Identify all 5 items before eating,” it said, and nobody was able to do it—Come on! he had bags of indivi…

I am presently on a road trip, camping in parts of the western states of the U.S. I guess it could be called a therapeutic getaway for my husband, who will make some serious medical decisions next month. Way out west, that could mean long stretches before finding a cell signal, but this campsite has internet and if my computer battery holds out, I may have a chance to get this posted. I happened to speak briefly to three JW women who had set up their cart and table in a national park. It was a frigid morning after a snowfall, the temperature inching from a bright and early 6 degrees above zero, toward 20 degrees in the sunshine. After a pleasant interchange, I m…

Take David for example. He is always used as an example by JW’s of God’s forgiveness. I was under the impression for all of my life that he was forgiven for one sin, one murder, Bathsheba’s husband, But what I had never even heard of until I left the religion and what wasn’t even considered murder according to the bible during that time was in 1 Samuel 18:27 where David killed 200 hundred Philistines in battle and brought their foreskins back to king Saul so he could marry his daughter. That apparently was okay! And here were are today, where if someone joins the military or wants to become a police officer they get disfellowshipped! They are expected to di…

I worked with someone in field service recently who was—shall we say—in over-enthused mode. The householder, accordingly, was doing all he could to ensure that the brother did not lay a glove on him. He did not want a fire and he was trying for all he was worth to hose us down. He brought up how he believes each one has his own belief, and furthermore, each one has the obligation to respect the other person’s belief, and so forth. Did the brother take the hint? Not a bit of it. He remained convinced that just one more point—just one more sentence from him would turn the whole situation around—and so he kept pressing, while the poor householder was practically workin…

How foolish to be distracted by or longingly look back at what we have left behind in the world! 26 "But Lot’s wife, who was behind him, began to look back, and she became a pillar of salt."
