Note the 'Russia Legal Update' at JW.org. Note the restraint and respect our people show toward government, even when treated abominably. No one is called a thug. A good example to imitate in lands where people are routinely abusive over less provocation. Note the resolve of our people to be poured out in full, if need be, as first-century Christians were, as Paul was, as Jesus was. Pray for them and for us, that we may be so firm should our time come. Some, hearing of Russian #persecution, are exuberant, others supportive. It's a good example of dividing into sheep or goats, foretold at Matthew 25. …

A verdict has been reached in the trial of a former teacher’s aide from Lake Worth, he was accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl he met through church functions. The jury of 6 was unanimous-- finding Hugh Murray guilty on all counts. On the third day of the trial against Murray-- just before noon-- a note came from the jury asking to hear the phone call between the 15-year-old victim and Murray -- the state made that recording one of their key pieces of evidence, but there was also a slew of naked pictures, and DNA, all showed Murray and the teen were having sexual relations. The background on the story: Murray and the victim are both Jehovah w…

Your people will be my people, and your God my God.—Ruth 1:16. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/dt/r1/lp-e/2017/1/27 Note Ruth’s love for Jehovah. The landowner Boaz later praised Ruth for seeking refuge under Jehovah’s wings. (Ruth 2:12) That may remind us of a baby bird taking refuge under the wings of a powerful, protective parent. (Ps. 36:7; 91:1-4) Jehovah became such a parent to Ruth. He rewarded her for her faith, and she never had any reason to regret her decision. Today, many learn about Jehovah but hesitate to take refuge in him. They hold back from becoming his dedicated, baptized servants. If you hesitate to make a dedication to Jehovah, have you stopped to …

Working Together With God—A Cause for Rejoicing Continue considering these things.—Phil. 4:8. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/dt/r1/lp-e/2017/1/26 We need to safeguard our spirituality. Because we live in a world that is dominated by Satan the Devil and because we are imperfect, it is easy for us to adopt the wrong thinking and conduct of the world. The world’s spirit might be compared to a river current that is pulling us in a direction we do not want to go. To avoid being swept downstream, we must vigorously swim in the other direction. Similarly, effort is required to keep from being swept away by the spirit of Satan’s world. When we are preaching to others, we…

Why Do Jehovah’s Witnesses Speak With People Who Have Previously Said, “I’m Not Interested”? Jehovah’s Witnesses, motivated by love for God and love of neighbor, enjoy sharing the Bible’s message with all people, including those who have previously said “I’m not interested.” (Matthew 22:37-39) Love for God moves us to obey his Son’s command “to give a thorough witness.” (Acts 10:42; 1 John 5:3) To do this, we bring God’s message more than once, just as God’s ancient prophets did. (Jeremiah 25:4) Because we love our neighbors, we try to share the lifesaving “good news of the Kingdom” with all, including those who at first were not interested in it.—Matthew 24:14…

"Get out of her my people." (Revelation 18:4) THE TRIUMPHANT KING RULES Christ Jesus is the rider on the white horse. In the year 1914, Jesus was enthroned as King of God’s heavenly Kingdom, and “the Lord’s day” began. (Revelation 1:10) In a vision reported in the book of Revelation, Jesus is seen as a King riding forth victoriously on a white horse. Other horsemen follow him, each representing a different plague on mankind. One of them rides a fiery-colored horse, and to him it was granted “to take peace away from the earth so that they should slaughter one another; and a great sword was given him.” (Revelation 6:1-4) This horse and its rider picture war…

BREASTPIECE - Long but worth it! The sacred embroidered pouch worn by Israel’s high priest over his heart whenever he entered the Holy. The breastpiece (Heb., cho′shen) was to serve as “a memorial” and was apparently referred to as “the breastpiece of judgment” because of containing the Urim and Thummim by means of which Jehovah’s judgments were revealed.—Ex 28:15, 29, 30 Like the ephod, the breastpiece was made of the finest of materials, gold, blue thread, wool dyed reddish purple, coccus scarlet material, and fine twisted linen. (Ex 28:15) The same fabrics were used in making the ten tent cloths embroidered with cherubs, the curtain separating the Holy from the …

ARE YOU READY FOR JEHOVAH'S DAY? - IT WILL TAKE A WHILE TO READ BUT WORTH IT! This is long but you won't regret reading it. It will make you stop and really think . ARE YOU PREPARED FOR JEHOVAH'S DAY? Imagine for a moment you are at home by yourself one afternoon. Your children are off at school or work and your husband or wife is also away for the day. They are off at work, shopping or running an errand. It's a beautiful day. But then the sky and everything around you suddenly turns black. You check the lights. The switch is up but it’s still pitch black and it's still the early part of the day. Something's wrong! You reach for the ph…

Illustration from an elder who heard the story from an overseer: The last trip on the bus is not always the best trip you will ever ride. Usually you’ll find all sorts of people here. They want to get to their destination. YOU want to get to your destination—in your peaceful silent home. Get some rest maybe after a long and tiring day. Some probably had a bad day.. some are coping. Some have difficulties in life… some are in trouble. It is not as peaceful as it could seem and the last trip is usually compact. Its not even comfortable to be sitting next to a perspiring or a sleeping passenger.. not to mention their flaws and their te…

"We love, because he first loved us." (1 John 4:19) You will find that the more you learn about Jehovah, the more you can see how much he truly loves you. You will then be motivated to do all you can to show your love for him in return. (1 John 4:8-10, 19) But how can you demonstrate that desire in your daily life? Why is obeying his moral standards in your best interests? And what will help you want to do God’s will along with us? Your Bible teacher will be pleased to explore the answers with you so that you and your family can “keep yourselves in God’s love, . . . with everlasting life in view.”—Jude 21. jw.org

Finding Fulfillment as a Mother and Wife ~ (Proverbs 31:10-31) A capable wife who can find? Her value is far more than that of corals. 11 In her the heart of her owner has put trust, and there is no gain lacking. 12 She has rewarded him with good, and not bad, all the days of her life. 13 She has sought wool and linen, and she works at whatever is the delight of her hands. 14 She has proved to be like the ships of a merchant. From far away she brings in her food. 15 She also gets up while it is still night, and gives food to her household and the prescribed portion to her young women. 16 She has considered a field and proceeded to obtain it; fro…

He Is Divided 33 "But the married man is anxious for the things of the world, how he may gain the approval of his wife, 34 and he is divided. Further, the unmarried woman, as well as the virgin, is anxious for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in her body and in her spirit. However, the married woman is anxious for the things of the world, how she may gain the approval of her husband." (1 Cor.7:33,34) At last a guy has taken the time to write down this all. Finally, the guys' side of the story. We always hear "the rules" from the female side. Now here are the rules from the male side. •1. Men ARE not mind readers. •2. Shopping is …
