What letter do you see in the attached photo? If you answer is an "A" well, you are right, but partially. Did you also observe the "B" close to the upper right corner? This aims to demonstrate the "evil" (side) effect of a spotlight: anything inside the focus obscures the surrounding area. And this is my question: Have we, the JW put so much emphasis, for decades and decades, to the extended applications of some cherished, favorite verses till the point to obscure the more basic, beautiful and inspired meaning? Only two examples: (Proverbs 27:23) "You should know well the appearance of your flock…" Ask any brother around the world about the meaning of…

Going nowhere
by Guest Nicole- 0 replies

By: @bow_tie_bros_comics Going nowhere: Trying to serve Jehovah while also trying to be involved in the world is like trying to use two escalators going in different directions at the same time, and thinking you can still get to the top. The sad reality is that the only thing you will have accomplished by doing this is hurting yourself and possibly stumbling others. We must pick the right path and stick to it if we are to have a real relationship with God.

Do You Highly Esteem Jehovah's Own Book? 13 "Indeed, that is why we also thank God unceasingly, because when you received God’s word, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but, just as it truthfully is, as the word of God, which is also at work in you believers." Jehovah’s Witnesses in Nairobi, Kenya at a recent convention I’m pretty sure the white guys use these clothes in daily life as well. It’s not just to play dress up at a convention. At our next convention in New England I plan to go dressed up as a Pilgrim who literally just walked off the Mayflower. ;-) Why is it we only play dress up in other countries? Shouldn’t someone in New York show up dressed like George Washington? It’s only fair to all of us in the USA. just sayin’ ;-) Update: I just found some photos of other actual Kenyans attending the assembly in their normal suits. I think that the 1958 Yankee stadium convention was different because people came to N…

God Will Soon Bring About a World Free of Fear “Shrewd is the one that has seen the calamity and proceeds to conceal himself, but the inexperienced have passed along and must suffer the penalty.” (Proverbs 22:3) We can take wise precautions, however, and by reducing our risks, we may reduce our anxieties. It makes sense to be aware of who is around you and to avoid dark places when possible. Maybe you can walk home using the best-lit streets possible, even if it means walking a little farther. The Bible also says: “Two are better than one . . . If somebody could overpower one alone, two together could make a stand against him.” (Ecclesiastes 4:9, 12) If y…

Tomorrow, human righs judges will announce their decision in a complaint against Georgia brought by 13 Jehova’s Witnesses. Tsartsidze and Others v. Georgia (no. 18766/04) The applicants are 13 Georgian nationals who are all Jehovah’s Witnesses. The case concerns alleged harassment of Jehovah’s witnesses in Georgia. The applicants submit that in 2000 and 2001 they had been the victims of various instances of intimidation and aggression towards Jehovah’s Witnesses either by Orthodox religious extremists or by the authorities, including the police. In five separate incidents some had been prevented from attending a religious meeting when stopped at a poli…

Song 134 See Yourself When All Is New (Revelation 21:1-5) 1. Just see yourself, just see me too; Just see us all in a world that is new. Think how you’ll feel, how it will be, To live in peace, to be truly free. No evil one will then prevail; Rule by our God cannot ever fail. The time will have come for a new earthly start, The song of our praises will pour out from our heart: (CHORUS) “Jehovah our God, how well you have done! All things are new by the rule of your Son. The fullness of our heart overflows in our song; All glory and honor and praise to you belong.” 2. Now see yourself, and see me too; And look ahead to a …

In What Ways Does Jehovah Love Us? He is guarding the lives of his loyal ones; he rescues them from the hand of the wicked.—Ps. 97:10. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/dt/r1/lp-e/2017/1/16 Certainly, one of a loving father’s priorities is that of protecting and safeguarding his family against any possible harm or serious danger. Jehovah, our heavenly Father, does no less. Consider an example. How precious your eyes are to you! That is how Jehovah feels about his people. (Zech. 2:8) How precious God’s people are to him! Jehovah has on occasion allowed enemies to take the life of a faithful one, such as Stephen. Yet, God protects his people overall by providing timel…

You with little faith, why did you give way to doubt?—Matt. 14:31. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/dt/r1/lp-e/2017/1/15 The disciples see Jesus walking on the Sea of Galilee. Peter calls out to Jesus, asking if he could walk across the water to his Master. When Jesus tells him to come, Peter gets out of the boat and miraculously walks toward Jesus on the choppy surface. Moments later, though, Peter starts to sink. Why? He looked at the windstorm and became afraid. Peter cries out to Jesus, who quickly catches hold of him and says the words quoted above. (Matt. 14:24-32) When Peter climbed out of the boat to walk on the water, he did so in faith. Jesus had called him, a…

Doomsday Fears Loom to a Large Nuclear War? One nuclear explosion can instantly obliterate a city—a somber fact that was demonstrated twice in August 1945. A nuclear explosion is horrendously powerful, destroying and killing by means of blast wave, wind, heat, fire, and radiation. Radiation also contaminates food and water. A nuclear war would cause tons of dust to be thrown into the air, blocking sunlight and causing global temperatures to plummet. Food crops and other plants would die. Without food to eat, humans and animals would die of starvation. Some nine countries are said to have the capacity to launch nuclear attacks. A few other nations appear to be…

The Blame Game
by Guest Nicole- 0 replies
- 1.9k views
By @bow_tie_bros_comics We should never leave our spiritual Father and refuse to speak with him because of the actions of our imperfect spiritual brothers and sisters. Blaming God for the actions of others is like blaming your parents because your sibling broke your toy. When a sibling does something to hurt us, as a kid, our childish viewpoint of justice may desire a punishment far more extreme then what the parents deem actually necessary. Maybe we have been hurt by someone in the congregation and we hope that they face some form of extreme punishment when in reality Jehovah sees everything and knows what the correct discipline should be and whe…
