The Guardian November 29, 2016 To all incredible women who strive for excellence, When I was growing up, I had a dream. I’m sure you did, too. My dream wasn’t like that of an average kid, my dream was to be the best tennis player in the world. Not the best “female” tennis player in the world. I was fortunate to have a family that supported my dream and encouraged me to follow it. I learned not to be afraid. I learned how important it is to fight for a dream and, most importantly, to dream big. My fight began when I was three and I haven’t taken a break since. But as we know, too often women are not supported enough or are discouraged from choosing their pat…

JEHOVAH SEES THE GOOD IN HIS SERVANTS Jehovah is with you, you mighty warrior.—Judg. 6:12. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/dt/r1/lp-e/2016/12/17 At the time the angel said this, Gideon felt anything but “mighty.” He acknowledged his doubts and his own sense of insignificance. But as the ensuing conversation revealed, Jehovah certainly had a much more positive view of his servant than Gideon had of himself. (Judg. 6:11-16) Jehovah trusted Gideon to deliver Israel because He had observed his skills. For one thing, Jehovah’s angel had noticed how Gideon threshed wheat with all his might. Something else had caught the angel’s attention. In Bible times, farmers usually…

Masseur jailed for raping 80-year-old woman

A masseur who raped an 80-year-old woman during a massage in her Victorian home has been jailed for three years and nine months for a crime a judge described as "incomprehensible". Malcolm Lee, 56, was hired by the woman's daughter to provide a massage therapy session for the older woman, and on April 1 attended her home and had her lie on her back, without a towel over her naked body. Lee rubbed her legs, the County Court heard, and then digitally raped the woman, touched her breast and kissed her on the lips. He later told police he thought the woman was consenting to what he was doing, but judge Gerard Mullaly on Friday rejected that explanation as fanci…

The word of Jehovah kept growing and prevailing.—Acts 19:20. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/dt/r1/lp-e/2016/12/16 Christianity flourished in the first century. To fare well spiritually, each Christian had to put forth personal effort. Diligent study of the Scriptures, regular attendance at meetings for worship, and zealous activity in the Kingdom-preaching work were essential. Such activities contributed to the spiritual health and unity of Jehovah’s people at that time, even as they do today. Those associated with the well-organized early congregations benefited greatly from the willing and helpful efforts of overseers and ministerial servants. (Phil. 1:1; 1 Pet. 5:1…

The Bible contains remarkable prophecies that were written and fulfilled in Roman times. For example, when Jesus rode into Jerusalem, he wept and foretold how the Roman armies would destroy the city. “Days will come upon you when your enemies will build around you a fortification with pointed stakes,” Jesus said. “They will not leave a stone upon a stone in you, because you did not discern the time of your being inspected.” —Luke 19:41-44. What happened to Jerusalem? The Roman armies led by Vespasian and his son Titus advanced on the city prior to the Passover of 70 C.E. Titus ordered that the temple be preserved; but a soldier torched it, and the place was torn down ston…

I had the privilege of witnessing to the local nursing home recently here in North Carolina, USA. We are using the book, “My book of Bible Stories”. We wanted to use creative ways to reach their heart and for the Bible stories to come alive. This month, we were talking about Solomon and the power of God’s wisdom. We created props; a baby, a sword, and a crown. Then we put on a small little drama for the audience. They loved it so much, they didn’t want us to leave! We are looking forward to coming back next time! Photo shared by @_julianna.jade_ Via
