Bloodless medical care seeks to avoid the need for transfusions. The following is a review of the most important considerations for setting up a bloodless care center. “Bloodless” medical care was first recognized in the 1970s when Denton Cooley, MD, performed cardiac surgery on hundreds of patients who were Jehovah’s Witnesses (JW).1 These patients were often turned away by other physicians because they were prohibited from receiving allogeneic transfusions. Bloodless care became more common in the 1980s, when the risks for viral infections transmitted through transfusion reached an all-time high, especially for HIV and viral hepatitis. The practice of bloodless med…

We are members belonging to one another.—Eph. 4:25. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/dt/r1/lp-e/2016/10/15 Are you a young person? If so, be assured that you, as a part of Jehovah’s worldwide congregation, are really appreciated. In many countries, a large number of those getting baptized are young people. How encouraging it is to see so many youths joining the ranks of those who have decided to serve Jehovah! As a youth, do you enjoy being with other young people? Likely you do. A certain happiness comes from enjoying pleasant times with those of our own age. However, whether we are young or old and regardless of our background, God wants us to be united in worshipping…

The one slow to anger is better than a mighty man, and the one controlling his temper than one conquering a city.—Prov. 16:32. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/dt/r1/lp-e/2016/10/14 Do not expose your mate’s weaknesses or harp on his idiosyncrasies—not even jokingly. Remember that marriage is not a competition to find out who is stronger, who can shout louder, or who can think of the most cutting remark. True, we all have flaws, and sometimes we upset others. But there is never a justifiable reason for either a husband or a wife to use sarcastic and demeaning speech, or worse, to shove or hit each other. (Prov. 17:27; 31:26) It takes great moral strength to imitate the …

EPISODE 2 The birth of the Kingdom in heaven Paragraphs 19 and 20 They gathered to worship God 19, 20. How were encouraged God's people to gather to worship him? 19 The Bible Students taught that, whenever possible, should meet to worship God. Not enough to leave false religion: the true Christian should practice pure worship. Already in the first issues of the Watch Tower magazine readers he was encouraged to come together to worship God. We find an example in the July, 1880, where Brother Russell recounted one of his tours of speeches and highlighted the cheerleaders were the many meetings had been held. Then he invited readers to write to him occasionally a few…

October 12, 2016 the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow dismissed the Jehovah's Witnesses in their claim to invalidate the warning about the inadmissibility of extremist activity, rendered by Russian Deputy Prosecutor General against their Administrative Center. Court decision was handed down at 13:10. Jehovah's Witnesses believe that court decision wrong. They strongly opposed to hanging them "extremists" label, stressing that extremism is deeply alien to their Bible-based views and morals. Please let us pray for our brothers and sisters in Haiti after the hurricane Matthew. For three days we couldn't have any news from them because there wasn't any cellphone service in the south part of the country. Last night we finally received the news that no one died, but almost every house in Camp-Perrin is destroyed. In the picture is their Kingdom Hall. The rooftop is gone, leaving everything inside wet and broken.

By means of him we have the release by ransom through the blood of that one, yes, the forgiveness of our trespasses.—Eph. 1:7. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/dt/r1/lp-e/2016/10/13 The sacrificial death of Jesus Christ, who willingly ‘handed himself over for us,’ has profound meaning for all who love him and his Father. (Gal. 2:20) Nonetheless, it was what Jesus did after his death and resurrection that truly released us, making forgiveness of our sins possible. Jesus fulfilled what was foreshadowed in the Mosaic Law on the Day of Atonement. On that day, the high priest took some of the blood of the sacrificial animals into the Most Holy of the tabernacle, and later in…

MOSCOW, October 12 (RAPSI) – A court in the Jewish Autonomous Region has ruled to ban a branch of “The Jehovah’s Witnesses” in Birobidzhan because of distributing extremist literature by the organization, according to the court’s website. A lawsuit seeking prohibition of the local religious organization “The Jehovah’s Witnesses” has been filed by the Main Department of the Ministry of Justice of the Khabarovsk Krai and Jewish Autonomous Region. According to the Ministry, facts of keeping and distribution of extremist materials were revealed in 2015 and 2016. Leaders of “The Jehovah’s Witnesses” were held administratively liable; the organization was formally not…

It is all over the internet. The changes made to the old “Song 58” and rendered into the new “Song 50” are found here. The words, “take my mind that I may serve, fully Lord without reserve” have been eliminated. Does anyone see why? What has been added into the new song is, “take my silver and my gold. Nothing, Lord, would I withhold”. This song is based on Matt 22:37 - "Jesus said to him, 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’" Since serving God with our mind is now removed in the new song, what does this tell us? Is it more important to serve God with our money, as if that is part of…

( Serve God Loyally Despite “Many Tribulations”) I see in my body another law warring against the law of my mind and leading me captive to sin’s law that is in my body. Miserable man that I am!—Rom. 7:23, 24. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/dt/r1/lp-e/2016/10/11 Satan would like to destroy your relationship with Jehovah, whether with frontal attacks of persecution or by slowly nibbling away at your faith through subtle attacks. One of the most effective subtle tactics Satan uses is discouragement. The apostle Paul admitted to feeling discouraged at times. Now, why would Paul—a spiritual “giant” who likely was a member of the first-century governing body—call himse…

I will make with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah a new covenant.—Jer. 31:31. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/dt/r1/lp-e/2016/10/12 Long before the Law covenant was canceled, Jehovah foretold through the prophet Jeremiah that He would make with the nation of Israel “a new covenant.” (Jer. 31:32, 33) That covenant would be unlike the Law covenant in that it would make possible the forgiveness of sins without the need for animal sacrifices. Centuries later, Jesus instituted the Lord’s Evening Meal on Nisan 14, 33 C.E. Speaking of the cup of wine, he told his 11 faithful apostles: “This cup means the new covenant by virtue of my blood, which is to be poured…
