One thing I have asked from Jehovah—it is what I will look for—that I may dwell in the house of Jehovah all the days of my life.—Ps. 27:4. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/dt/r1/lp-e/2016/9/30 As part of Jehovah’s organization, what joy we now have in telling others about God’s promised new world! (2 Pet. 3:13) “The meek will possess the earth,” says Psalm 37:11, “and they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.” People “will build houses and live in them” and will enjoy “the work of their hands.” (Isa. 65:21, 22) There will be no more oppression, poverty, and hunger. (Ps. 72:13-16) Babylon the Great will no longer deceive anyone, for she will not exist. …

....this was said: "We thank you Brother C.T. Russell for showing us the TRUTH." This brings so many questions to mind. First of all, how is this not a prayer? How is it not creature worship? Why have JWs rejected most of what Russell taught as "the truth" and yet thank him for showing them the truth? Any ideas?

There is where his weeping and the gnashing of his teeth will be.—Matt. 25:30. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/dt/r1/lp-e/2016/9/29 In the parable of the talents, the last slave buried his talent instead of doing business with it or even depositing it with the bankers. This slave showed a bad spirit, for he deliberately worked against the master’s interests. The master rightly pronounced him “wicked and sluggish.” The master took the talent away from him and gave it to the one who had ten. The wicked slave was then thrown “out into the darkness outside.” (Matt. 25:24-30; Luke 19:22, 23) Since this third slave hid his talent, was Jesus here indicating that one third of …

The scriptures Christians base their belief in the rapture on are the following: 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18, “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.” 1 Corinthians 15:20-23, “But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep. 21 For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of th…

A poster on reddit confirms that Biggs was a Witness and an elder as of 2009. Another poster said Biggs wife's name is Autumn Kay. Biggs has evidently been disfellowshipped from the Jehovah's Witnesses organization His father's name is Calvin. Is it possible that he was the one who gave the talk at the convention?

Did Jewish Scribes Remove the Name of God from the Greek New Testament Manuscripts? 1 2 3
by Jack Ryan- 31 replies

I have a question I was hoping someone here could answer. I know JW's say that Jewish scribes removed the name of God from the Greek New Testament manuscripts, but I have not seen any documented evidence from reputable scholars to substantiate that claim. In fact, today I was reading through the Watchtower edition #4 under the section titled "The Bible Survived Attempts to Alter Its Message" and I found an interesting quote there. Basically, it makes the argument that due to the strict standard involved in copying the manuscripts, the sheer volume of Greek manuscripts available, and the availability of early manuscripts as early as the second century, we can be confident …

Love is as strong as death is.—Song of Sol. 8:6. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/dt/r1/lp-e/2016/9/28 Love is a hallmark of a Christian marriage. But what type of love is this? Is it love governed by Bible principles? (1 John 4:8) Does it involve natural affection—the kind that family members have toward one another? Does this love consist of warm and tender attachment as found between true friends? (John 11:3) Is it romantic love? (Prov. 5:15-20) Actually, the true and abiding love between marriage mates includes all of them. Love is best sensed when it is expressed. How vital that marriage mates not allow the activities of daily life to rob them of exchanging express…

A Father and his Daughter ❤ A father wanted to read a magazine, but was being interrupted by his little girl. She wanted to know, what the world looked like from above. In exasperation, he tore a sheet out of his new magazine on which was printed a satellite picture of the world. Tearing it into small pieces, he gave the bits to her and said,... " go into your room and see if you can put this together, this will show you the world as it is today " After a few minutes, she returned and handed him the map, correctly fitted and taped together. The father was surprised and asked how she had finished so quickly. " Oh ",... she said, " On th…

I was trying to come up with the most controversial question that Witnesses might ever have to face. This one might appear silly at first, but it also might draw out some of the same controversies that we most often attempt to avoid. The "Millions" Campaign ran from about 1918 to 1925. It was the primary focus of the Watch Tower sponsored public talks, billboards, assemblies, books and booklets publications from during those years. The primary slogan and talk title was called "Millions Now Living Will Never Die." Because it started in 1918, and it made a very specific prediction, it seems that as of some time earlier this year, this prediction can no longer come…

The Death of Jesus 44 It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, 45 for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. 46 Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.”[a] When he had said this, he breathed his last.(Luke 23:44-46) Thallus. In the Book, by Norman L. Geisler in his Baker Encyclopedia of Christian Apologetics, on page. 382, it reads, Thallus wrote about A.D. 52. None of his works are extant, though a few fragmented citations are preserved by other writers. One such writer is Julius Africanus in about 221, who quotes thallus in …

The proconsul . . . became a believer.—Acts 13:12. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/dt/r1/lp-e/2016/9/27 Because the Jews were so widely dispersed throughout the Roman world, many non-Jews became familiar with the Hebrew Scriptures. They learned that there is only one true God and that those who serve him are held to high ethical and moral standards. Moreover, the Hebrew Scriptures were filled with prophecies concerning the Messiah. (Luke 24:44) Both Jews and Christians understood that the Hebrew Scriptures were the inspired Word of God, which made it possible for Paul to establish common ground with those whose hearts were inclined toward righteousness. Accordingly, th…

They found him in the temple.—Luke 2:46. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/dt/r1/lp-e/2016/9/25 Jehovah gives us Christian meetings to help us learn to stick together. We have often read the encouragement found at Hebrews 10:24, 25. One purpose of these meetings is to “consider one another so as to incite to love and fine works.” It is significant, though, that the meetings are provided so that we can be “encouraging one another, and all the more so as [we] see the day drawing near.” As a youth, Jesus set a good example of appreciation for such arrangements. At the age of 12, he was with his parents at a large spiritual gathering. At one point, he was missing but not bec…

I know that after my going away oppressive wolves will enter in among you and will not treat the flock with tenderness.—Acts 20:29. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/dt/r1/lp-e/2016/9/26 Toward the end of his third missionary journey, Paul warned members of God’s name people by saying the above. He added: “From among you yourselves men will rise and speak twisted things to draw away the disciples after themselves.” (Acts 20:30) This foretold apostasy had clearly manifested itself by the end of the first century. (1 John 2:18, 19) After the death of the apostles, that apostasy blossomed and produced the churches of Christendom. Apostate Christians have even removed the di…
