Marriage can be a beautiful thing when done properly. However, if you marry for the wrong reasons you can find yourself in a relationship that is not what you thought it would be. Look beyond the physical to the 'secret person of the heart'. Take your time, and if you are young keep in mind 1 Cor 7:36-"But if anyone thinks he is behaving improperly by remaining unmarried, and if he is past the bloom of youth, then this is what should take place: Let him do what he wants; he does not sin. Let them marry." Emphasis on "past the bloom of youth." Most importantly keep Jehovah in your decision making at all times.(Though the comic shows the guy in the dog house the situation ca…

Keep doing this in remembrance of me.—1 Cor. 11:24. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/dt/r1/lp-e/2016/9/8 Night has fallen, but a full moon bathes Jerusalem in soft light. It is the evening of Nisan 14, 33 C.E. Jesus and his apostles have celebrated the Passover, commemorating Israel’s deliverance from Egyptian bondage 15 centuries earlier. With 11 loyal apostles, Jesus now institutes a special meal—one that will memorialize the death he will experience before this day ends. (Matt. 26:1, 2) Jesus says a blessing and passes unleavened bread to the apostles, saying: “Take, eat.” He takes a cup of wine, again offers thanks, and says: “Drink out of it, all of you.” (Matt. 26…

He opened up their minds fully to grasp the meaning of the Scriptures.—Luke 24:45. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/dt/r1/lp-e/2016/9/7 It was still the day of Jesus’ resurrection. Two of the disciples were walking to a village about seven miles (11.2 km) from Jerusalem. Not knowing that Jesus had been resurrected, they were heavyhearted because of recent events. Suddenly, Jesus appeared and started walking with them. He was able to comfort these disciples. How? “Starting with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them things pertaining to himself in all the Scriptures.” (Luke 24:13-15, 27) At that, their hearts started to burn within them as he clearly explaine…

This is not true. It is true that all of the events that Russell expected (and predicted) for 1914 did not come true. But none of these were derived from the Great Pyramid. It was the other way around. All of the events were derived from beliefs he inherited from Nelson Barbour who inherited the methods from Millerite Second Adventists and the specific dates of 1874 that was already mentioned by Miller and promoted by other Second Adventists after Miller's dates failed. A lot of things were expected to happen between 1874 and the end (Armageddon) in 1914/1915. Others were already promoting the mysterious and supposedly uncanny wisdom emanating from the Great Pyramid,…

Worilds gives up football for faith
by Guest Kurt- 0 replies

Steelers outside linebacker Jason Worilds smiles on the sidelines during a game against the Bengals in Cincinnati on Dec. 7. Worilds spent five seasons with the Steelers, developing into one of the league's better young outside linebackers. Perched on the edge of a massive payday as a coveted free agent in a thin market, Worilds chose retirement instead. By Ed Bouchette / Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Jason Worilds has gone from having NFL teams pounding on his door, urging him to take their tens of millions of dollars to play for them, to perhaps literally knocking on doors to convert others to his religion. He gave up football for faith. Worilds, 2…

Vikings draft pick Asher Allen (30) watches drills during training camp in Mankato Monday August 3, 2009. Questions with Bob … Asher Allen had been a decent cornerback for the Vikings when he retired unexpectedly in May 2012. He had suffered a couple of concussions, but he was only 24 years old and walked away from a $615,000 salary. The Vikings moved on without him and thoughts of Allen faded — until last week. He resurfaced in a blurb from the Midwest Dairy Association, for whom he writes a blog. He also has some interesting factoids about his life on the group’s web site: “I am currently volunteering my time as a full-time minister of Jehovah’s Witnesse…

Mateo hangs up guitar, turns to God

MATTHEW Kaunda, popularly known as Mateo, was famed for the hit songs Pamuhacha and Asambe Africa at the peak of his music career in the late 1990s.BY SHADRECK MARIRIMBAThe man suddenly went underground amid reports that he had fallen on hard times and his health was failing. But a recent encounter with Kaunda demonstrated that the man is still going strong and healthy. The difference is that he has turned his back on secular music following a Damascene experience through which he has found Jehovah God.In retrospect, he regrets that his music did not lead anyone to know God’s son Jesus Christ, and says he will not use his talent anymore to sell his soul to Satan the devil …

Among various Christian groups found all over the Earth in this modern era, Jehovah’s Witnesses are obviously the most enthusiastic group to convey their teachings and beliefs to the people. Therefore their beliefs and practices are far from being secret. Even non-Christians are aware of these beliefs and practices as spread about in their attractive colorful and illustrative literatures. These attractive literatures - books, pamphlets and tracts – are very much available in virtually all the languages spoken internationally and locally. In this article, I wish to state clearly some very basic and fundamental beliefs and practices of the Jehovah’s Witnesses as contained i…

by Guest Kurt- 0 replies
- 1.2k views
Jehovah's Witnesses who require operation represent a challenge to the physician because of the patients' refusal to accept blood transfusion. We report a 20-year experience with a consecutive series of 542 Jehovah's Witness patients ranging in age from 1 day to 89 years who underwent operation. Early mortality (within 30 days after operation) was 9.4%. In 362 patients requiring temporary cardiopulmonary bypass, early mortality was 10.7%. Mortality was 13.5% among 126 patients who had single- or double-valve replacement. The only deaths among patients who had aortic valve replacement or repair of a ventricular septal defect occurred in those who had some serious complicat…

Russia’s New Anti-Missionary Law in Context
by Guest Kurt- 0 replies

By: Elizabeth A. Clark On July 7, 2016, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed into law a package of amendments with the declared purpose of countering terrorism and ensuring public safety. These amendments, known as the Yarovaya law, which went into effect July 20, present a number of severe restrictions to religious freedom, essentially banning preaching, praying, proselytizing, and disseminating religious materials outside of officially-designated locations. The realities of religiously motivated terrorism present a security challenge that all governments must address. Do these laws represent a legitimate response to security concerns or serve as an excuse …

ROSENBERG - The NFL quarterback drawing fire for not standing for the Star-Spangled Banner is, in one way, in a league with the thousands of people descending on Rosenberg for a regional convention that wraps up Sunday. Jehovah's Witnesses have long refused to recite the Pledge of Allegiance or participate in other patriotic ceremonies. They also don't celebrate birthdays, get blood transfusions, vote or join the military because of their religious beliefs. Jehovah's Witnesses count 8.2 million members worldwide and may be among the world's faster-growing religions. "I tell people if you read this, it is like winning the lottery," said a woman who shared a …
