There was a series of tweets from former Jehovah’s Witnesses hoping to stir up discontent with present ones. The politics involved are likely not of interest to the general reader so I pass over it here. Suffice it to say that it is that way. It turns out that when the Watchtower organization oversees disaster relief they afterwards suggest to ones that happen to have insurance that they might donate whatever insurance might pay out to the Worldwide Work relief fund itself. Why this should infuriate the ex-Witnesses I’ll never know but infuriate them it does. To me, it seems only just that those who do the disaster rebuild should receive the insurance monies if there…

'Biased assumptions' While most of the comments on the post in the Facebook page debated the merits of the celebrations and the priorities of the district, some focused on the religious beliefs of those who don't celebrate Halloween. Halloween began as the Celtic festival Samhain, where people would light bonfires and wear costumes to frighten ghosts, according to History.com. Due to its roots, the holiday isn't celebrated by certain religions or groups, including Jehovah's Witnesses, some Christians, Orthodox Jews and Muslims. "It is the stated strategy of some to use our own laws against us," reads on comment on Facebook. "Wake up people. Nothing is an 'A…

I thought about posting this on the recent thread "Early Christians, the New Testament and the Divine Name," partly because of a question someone posed there on the earliest evidence for Jewish disuse of the name. However, the issue merits its own thread. There is a book published a few years ago on the Greek form of the tetragrammaton, iota-alpha-omega (Ιαω), that is on-topic, yet that seems to have escaped the attention of non-scholars, and for that matter, many scholars as well. It's dense reading to be sure, but worth the effort. It's written by one of the scholars who has penned reviews of Robert Wilkinson's monograph on the tetragrammaton, Frank Shaw. Its title is T…

Larry was born on May 8, 1940. Larry passed away on the morning of September 29, 2018 following a long battle with cancer. Larry’s body may have succumbed to this disease, but his spirit never faltered. Larry was born in Spokane, WA and graduated from Cheney High School in the class of 1958. Larry worked for Spokane County on the road crew for 27 years. His favorite thing to do at this job was to plough snow. After retiring Larry worked for his good friend Dave Silver at Automotive Specialties. A man of faith, Larry was an active member of the JehovahÂ’s Witnesses. He attended meetings at the Millwood branch Kingdom Hall. There is no measure to the importance …

This comes from the final talk at the Birmingham, AL Convention. Herd talks kind of low and there is some background noise, so here is a transcript starting at about 1:25. I thought this was interesting because it doesn't appear to be in the talk outline. Admittedly, I just skimmed through the outline quickly, so it might be in there. Either way, there is something twisted about comparing the shunning of children to casting out demons from heaven. Edit: For those wondering, this talk is from August 5. The part before when the transcript starts is Herd talking about King Asa removing his grandmother from her position.

I really do have a laugh at your comments. Although to read that you say i am right is nice. However from line three onward it seems as if you are writing just for the fun of it. which is fine of course, but it makes no sense to me. The only reason why that I can fathom is that the GB love having control over people. And, like the Pharisees, they make up their own rules known as 'the traditions of men'. Traditions of men in the JW Org :- Men must wear a suit and tie. Women are not allowed to wear trousers, must wear dress or skirt. A witness must be dressed in a tidy manner at all times (even though Peter went fishing naked). A Man is not …

TTH seems to think i hate the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses. I presume he reasons that because i find fault with them then i must hate them. So, a question. Did Jesus hate the Pharisees ? Jesus certainly found fault with them and showed them up for what they were. Any thoughts ?

So ... whatever happened to "Quit being fashioned after this world"? I am noticing this dress up fashion runway spirit taking off worldwide. Whatever happened to dignified modesty in walking with our God? - Just me venting.... I feel we have lost something with all of this new "openness" They should spend more of their actually READING the bible and less time on outfits and video candy. just 'sayin

They started out with a $3,500 carry-over but by the end of the day they were short $25,000. The speaker eloquently beseeched the audience to go the ATM machines and give their generous contribution or at least their widow's mite. After the sessions were over, our friend who attended walked from one end of the assembly hall and then to the other end and noticed long lines up to both machines with people who couldn't wait to run up their credit cards. Later in the car, even his hard-core JW wife mentioned that she wondered how it cost that much for a one-day assembly in a building that was fully paid for. I'm guessing maybe a paedophile lawsuit happened during the int…

No. Donations have no relevance as to whether a person is counted as a Witness or has any particular assignment or privilege in our organization. (Acts 8:18-20) In fact, most donations are made anonymously. Each Witness donates his time, energy, and resources to our worldwide work according to his own desire and circumstances.—2 Corinthians 9:7.

Gene Smalley at a Circuit Assembly This Weekend "Solomon had 60 queens and 80 concubines when he wrote Song of Solomon" I think Smalley said this like three times. So anyways, "he wasn't supposed to be multiplying wives for himself according to the law" Gene kept saying. But "Jehovah used him anyway". What was his point? How we can make mistakes and still be used by Jehovah. Of course he had to name drop Fred Franz at one point, something about looking up the word paregoric in the dictionary. At another point he wen off about the immune system and blood cells for about 10 minutes. Final 1 hour talk of the day.

All in attendance at our local circuit assembly are 'encouraged' to donate as a benchmark £7.50 for the privilege of being there and 'covering the cost of the assembly hall' Is this a new tactic? How is this different from "passing the plate" that my dad always boasted that JW's did not do?

Six people are reported dead after torrential rainfall at Esereso Adagya in the Bosomtwi in the Ashanti region of Ghana on Thursday night. The deceased were members of the Jehovah’s Witness faith who had closed from construction works on a new Kingdom Hall project in the area and were on their way home in a saloon vehicle when the incidence occurred. According to reports, their vehicle, were washed away after the Attafuah bridge caved in as a result of the downpour. The bridge reportedly became weaker after the Ankonim River overflowed its bank. Hours after the incidence, rescuers have been able to retrieve the lifeless bodies of five of the victims wi…

This is a cake I made for a couple headed for SKE. The cake is vanilla with strawberry cheesecake mousse filling. I used edible images on the Bible and iPad. The little desk lamp is fully operational. My husband did his part by providing the handmade base to complete the look of a desk. It was a labour of love, and well worth the effort for the wonderful couple! @cupcake_mama_jzd
