    Space Merchant:

    Don't
    Need
    To!
These things are second nature to you, and to the Watchtower corporation that works the system to its advantage.  But, to the poor misguided sheep who have been fleeced spiritually and financially by wolves in sheep's clothing, it is, I repeat,  SHOCKING to find out anything relating to their political and financial dealings.  Matt 7:15; Mark 13:22  Are you going to educate millions of JWs who are still in the dark about it?  Will that make it all better? You have a lot of work to do.   They have been led to believe the organization is earthly Zion, an extension of the heavenly Zion.   What would Zion have to do with Satan's riches that run this world?  Matt 6:19-21  Yet, I have heard the governing body state that all the material goods of the organization are God's possessions, and they are precious to Him.  I ask a JW, where in scripture can this be proven?
Write me your book, it doesn't make a difference in the general perception the Watchtower conveys to its members.  This is the major issue.  An organization, which protects itself with every worldly tool possible, claims to be God's possession.  This very idea blasphemes scripture.
"For as I was passing through and observing the objects of your worship, I even found an altar on which was inscribed: ‘To an Unknown God.’ Therefore, what you worship in ignorance, this I proclaim to you. 24 The God who made the world and everything in it—he is Lord of heaven and earth—does not live in shrines made by hands. 25 Neither is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives everyone life and breath and all things. 26 From one man he has made every nationality to live over the whole earth and has determined their appointed times and the boundaries of where they live. 27 He did this so that they might seek God, and perhaps they might reach out and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. 28 For in him we live and move and have our being, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also his offspring.’ 29 Since we are God’s offspring then, we shouldn’t think that the divine nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image fashioned by human art and imagination.  Acts 17:23-29
JWs are taught to seek out and join "Jehovah's organization"...and SERVE in every capacity imaginable.  Because, it is the pure, no part of the world, earthly Zion.
This is idolatry, as proven from Acts 17.

I just found this interesting comment on YT
Regarding the court fines: I just read something interesting today from the book "Defending and Legally Establishing the Good News" (WTBTS 1950). It says on page 81, last paragraph under "FINES": If, after appealing a criminal court fine related to your JW membership or JW's doctrine, "then instead of paying the fine, discharge it by going to jail, if allowed to do so by law". "If it is his (Jehovah's) will that you go to prison and there give further testimony after failing on appeal, that should be done joyfully. Trust in Jehovah for protection". So which JW will be going to prison over the $4000 daily fine from the court? I think these fines are against the WTBTS, not the elders or congregation. In Los Angeles County, jail time is typically used to pay off court fines at the rate of $38 per day. (each day of $4000 fine would equal 105 days in jail) Maybe they can send the entire Governing Body to prison? Wouldn't that be fun to see. I'm sure they can delay the fines for a few more years, but eventually they will have to pay. If WT pays this fine instead of choosing jail, they would be in violation of their own command.?

    Not "fair"?
So many things are not "fair" in the world, and WT pick up this issue to Fight for?
Their fight for freedom of speech and religious activity aka declaring and spreading JW teaching is not something unique, in general. Because many people of various belongings also fight for their freedom of speech and activity.
So, fighting for Money Issue is NOT so Noble Task. It can be matter of "existence", for sure. But as i can see JW members working for daily life costs, earning with own labor for bread and milk.  Well, WT fighting for Corporation's money is another thing. They are not fighting for better standards of living for 8 m. members, but for better, high standards accommodations and some sort/level of power that comes with money for those who have it - WT Management - fights for own position, not for You.
Because, if Jesus is Leader of this Church (JWorg) he can Run His Work without Warwick , GB and Stuff in It. Without your donation money, without Hedge Funds, H.M. Riley Trust and so on.  :))

It is not easy explaining the Watchtower to a person who has never been one, which sounds like you.
About tax-exempt status, here is one person’s opinion:  https://www.berkshireeagle.com/stories/letter-end-tax-exempt-status-for-religions,559240
Here is the letter responding to that opinion:   https://www.berkshireeagle.com/stories/letter-tax-exempt-religions-give-back-in-many-ways,559806
He makes good points.  Many churches “give back” to the community.  My sister-in-law served food at a church soup kitchen for years and loved doing it.  My neighbors enjoy helping hundreds receive a hot meal to any who walk off the street at Thanksgiving time.
While I do not personally ascribe to any church or established religion, I am not against any organization within guidelines of the law, receiving a tax-exempt status.  I have a problem with the Watchtower walking on both sides of the fence.  You will not see soup kitchens offered by the Watchtower, or food pantries, or thrift stores set up by a church to serve the poor in the community,  since they believe “spiritual food” is enough to sustain a person through their organization, which is the only road to salvation.   It has been my experience in the congregations I belonged to, that you will not see a congregational announcement from a platform that a family needs everyone’s help to get them through tough times.  Individually, yes, but not as a group. Every meeting agenda is followed world-wide with little deviation from the program.
The Watchtower fights for every right they can receive from the government without “giving back” to the community. They fight against victims of child abuse suffered at the hands of elders or congregational members.   If they do an act of community kindness they are pressed to do so, or they believe it's time to show how "God's true organization" can make a difference.  There's always an ulterior motive that is sourced at the top.     Does this make sense?  They claim to represent the one true God “in truth”. They claim they follow Christ’s principles…and are the only religious group who does. Individually, they may take care of their own, but are very cautious of those on the outside; as those on the outside are part of the world, while JWs believe they are NO part of the world.    Any who leave this religion to serve Christ as he truly expects, by giving and worshiping as they feel free to, as the Father and Christ lead them through Holy Spirit, can be marked as “dead”.
I don’t hate JWs, I hate hypocrisy. The organization's use of a tax-exempt status can be compared to a person on food stamps that has no valid reason for not working, other than he or she is lazy and wants to milk the system for everything he can get.

Dear Sir, I am sorry that you don’t recognize hypocrisy when it is staring you in the face.  It appears there is an elephant in the room, stepping on your foot, and you refuse to admit it.
When is it okay for the Watchtower to be like all other churches/organization in the world…
    …and when is it not?
In the first century one of the apostles of the foundation of the true Zion, the true “organization” of God, built with priestly “living stones” on the Body of Christ, stated:
“Let everyone submit to the governing authorities, since there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are instituted by God. 2 So then, the one who resists the authority is opposing God’s command, and those who oppose it will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have its approval. 4 For it is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, because it does not carry the sword for no reason. For it is God’s servant, an avenger that brings wrath on the one who does wrong. 5 Therefore, you must submit, not only because of wrath but also because of your conscience. 6 And for this reason you pay taxes, since the authorities are God’s servants, continually attending to these tasks. 7 Pay your obligations to everyone: taxes to those you owe taxes, tolls to those you owe tolls, respect to those you owe respect, and honor to those you owe honor.  Rom 13:1-7
I highly doubt they would have pursued a tax-exempt status if it was offered, since they were no part of the world. John 17:13-19;  1 John 2:15
“Jesus told them, “Give to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” And they were utterly amazed at him.”  Mark 12:17
This isn't a problem with those "living stones" who have left a corporation to serve God and Christ directly.  2  Cor 6:14-18
     (1 Pet 2:4-10; 1 Cor 3:16,17; Eph 2:20-22; John 2:19-21; Matt 16:18)

Just a little more longwinded opinion here.
I think his tone and most of his words were intended to portray himself as someone who recognizes that there were and are human rights issues to take care of now and to avoid in the future. He also is is to be seen as a source of wise advice, giving the impression that if he had just known some of these issues in advance that he would have known better ways to handle these things. But he also recognizes that some issues are too complex to make snap decisions about on the spot. He gives the impression that he is generally knowledgeable, perhaps had an idea about some of these issues, but was really just now learning the specifics, either on the spot or from reading the papers provided in preparation for the meeting.
Otherwise he would be portraying himself and therefore the Russian nation as knowingly culpable in any of the errors that had been made in the name of the state. That's the big difference in using the term to mean "prosecute" vs "persecute." If he had intentionally used the term to mean "persecute" this would have been very much at odds with that tenor -- it admits national culpability -- and that he KNOWS there is national culpability. That's why it is very different from "prosecute" which admits only procedural error at most, e.g., too strict a definition being put on the word "extremist," and therefore something that could potentially be redressed merely through a change or adjustment in judicial procedure, if deemed necessary.
To me, his words indicate that he would not be averse to a positive change in the procedure against "extremist" groups, especially when these are generally seen as "Christian" groups. It seems he would be more forgiving of first time offenses of trying to proselytize. I don't get the impression that he, on his own, will want to make a big deal of what happened with the Witnesses. But he will no doubt be informed again of the JW status and will be more knowledgeable each time he is re-informed, and this could easily lead to a situation very soon where he asks for a change to the procedure against JWs. The JWs may have to "compromise" in the sense of being more of an autonomous religious group in Russia that doesn't give the impression that it merely takes all marching orders from outside of Russia (New York). To work well in Russia, the state wants to know that tens of thousands of people are not going to suddenly begin carrying "Religion is a Snare and a Racket" signs in the streets, or drink Kool-Aid, or collect money for a corporation in Wallkill, New York where instruction will trickle down through other branches to update rules about where new Halls will be built, what to do about national anthems, military service, blood transfusion policy, or look to an internal judicial system that could be seen as competing with or overriding that of the state.
When he is advised again about the JWs, he will be concerned about how it looks to his own nation, outside international organizations, how it reflects on himself, and therefore, if making a change is useful or worth the effort. I don't get the impression he is anxious to make a big deal about it. I see it very possible that his own advisors on these issues could talk him out of doing something, even if he thinks it is advisable. I see right now as a good time for the WTS HQ to help orchestrate the leverage of human rights organizations.
Getting 8 million people to write the same set of letters is not as impressive to him as it seems to us, because it only proves that the very thing he doesn't want in a Russian religion, exists to the nth degree in our religion: that everyone follows orders from the same HQ outside of Russia.

No, TTH, it probably does NOT amount to the same thing.  The two words have nuances that make them completely different ... which is what this WHOLE CONVERSATION has been about.
Words have intonation, flavor, nuance, and emotional indexes, depending on culture, context, and time and circumstance of usage.
Soft words in one language are hard words in another.  The same word used in street slang, an Elder's meeting, and in a court of law will be quite different, due to "environmental" factors, and common usage.
Once again, you are trying to soften and justify that you are wrong.
.... And as to your question ... if you don't understand the answer intuitively, an explanation is beyond the amount of work I want to devote to an answer.

This is one person’s opinion, which is fine, but it is not an opinion I share.
…to a morally superior standard.  Hmmm.  This is exactly what is taught the congregants.  When someone leaves while still in shock  after learning otherwise,  those who had this ingrained in their head year after year and who have left the organization because of hypocrisy, will naturally say, “did you know”?  “How dare they do what they tell the members NOT to do!”
The Watchtower TEACHES that its “spirit-directed organization” is an “ideal world”.  This matters not to one like yourself who has never faced such indoctrination.
“The rule of Scripture is the rule in his organization. Also the principles therein set forth are those upon which we work. Jehovah’s thoughts, ways and purposes are those we follow and not our own. It is a pure theocracy. Therefore there is peace in our ranks.  Here again is another fulfillment of prophecy. Jehovah has blessed the wholehearted effort of his people   Therefore as you witness this, and if you too desire peace, prosperity and Jehovah’s blessing, then bring your life into obedience to the will of Jehovah God and be in subjection to theocratic rule, recognizing those who have the authority over you in Jehovah’s pure and happy organization.”  w56 11/15 pp. 696-702
