I have a two part question: Why does Jehovah require the faithful and discreet slave to build a very expensive and grandiose luxury compound when the end of the world is imminent and how can the faithful and discreet slave justify the cost when they are not receiving as much money as they are spending?

Why does Jehovah God forbid tattoos?
Matthew9969 replied to James Thomas Rook Jr.'s topic in Jehovah’s Witnesses's Topics
Thus is why I'm so glad Jesus didn't condemn shell fish! -
So I'm trying to wrap my head around Jesus being part of the Godhead, (not trinity) but there being subjection within the Godhead? 20 But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. 23 But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ. 24 Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. 25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death. 27 For “God[c] has put all things in subjection under his feet.” But when it says, “all things are put in subjection,” it is plain that he is excepted who put all things in subjection under him. 28 When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to him who put all things in subjection under him, that God may be all in all. Thoughts?

Timeline of the 'Light Getting Brighter'
Matthew9969 replied to The Librarian's topic in Jehovah’s Witnesses's Topics
That is a good point, however some believe when it comes to the bible, it is a clear cut word of God, no progression needed.- 45 replies

Timeline of the 'Light Getting Brighter'
Matthew9969 replied to The Librarian's topic in Jehovah’s Witnesses's Topics
Fair enough, I can see that, as long as it can be backed up biblicaly. No need to delve into it, but one example that consfuses me and others is the overlapping generations theory, which definatley could be a whole thread itself.- 45 replies

Timeline of the 'Light Getting Brighter'
Matthew9969 replied to The Librarian's topic in Jehovah’s Witnesses's Topics
I am curious, why the need to keep a strict chronological timeline of the doctrinal changes of the watchtower? Since the Governing body is the faithful and discreet slave, and Gods mouthpiece, is their spiritual ear hard of hearing, or is Jehovah changing doctrine?- 45 replies

Why does Jehovah God forbid tattoos?
Matthew9969 replied to James Thomas Rook Jr.'s topic in Jehovah’s Witnesses's Topics
I have a tattoo of Michael the arc angel. I got to cover up a demon tattoo I got way back in the day b4 coming to Christ. I believe God is happier with me having a tattoo that honors Him rather than disrespects Him. -
In all my years of discussions with people of all faiths, it is only the Joe's who constantly remind everyone of how many of them there are, how many people show up at the memorial, how many hours they spend in field service, and worst of all boast that they are the only religion that provides charity. I believe you misunderstood the meaning of my post

I take it then that those verses don't apply to the Jehovahs Witnesses? It is ok for them to boast?

How Does the GB Travel?

Maybe their new luxury compound will have a private supersonic jet underneath the basketball court. -
The WTBTS on a regular basis boast of how many of them there are, how many hours they work, how they are the only ones to do this or that. They really really like to boast of themselves, even speak more of themselves and their governing body than Jehovah or Jesus. Is this ok according to the bible? James 4:16 - But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. Jeremiah 9:23 - Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise [man] glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty [man] glory in his might, let not the rich [man] glory in his riches: Proverbs 27:2 - Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 - This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. (Read More...) Proverbs 27:1 - Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth. Ephesians 2:8 - For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: 1 Corinthians 4:7 - For who maketh thee to differ [from another]? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive [it], why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received [it]? 2 Corinthians 11:30 - If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things which concern mine infirmities. Psalms 94:4 - [How long] shall they utter [and] speak hard things? [and] all the workers of iniquity boast themselves? 2 Corinthians 10:12-18 - For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. (Read More...) Ephesians 2:9 - Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9 - For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: (Read More...) James 3:5 - Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! James 4:13-16 - Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: (Read More...) Proverbs 25:14 - Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift [is like] clouds and wind without rain.

I myself was taken into the back hall a few times and was given a swipe or 10 on the rear end for not sitting still. I have witnessed children as young as 2 years old being spanked right there in front of everyone to sit still. Spanking is not child abuse, but there are reasons to spank, and spanking a child to sit still through a 2 hour boring meeting geared towards adults is not one of them for sure. Parents who are willing to do this are more than likely dishing out more sever punishment at home where no one can see.

I have seen that as well, some parents use Sunday school as a babysitter, they probably also use the television set as a babysitter as well, and that is wrong, it's very obvious the parents are not interested in teaching their children about Jesus. The word 'Sunday School' is such an antiquated word, I and the church I am associated with prefer the term 'children's ministry'. and this is why....here is an example...why do schools have different learning levels? why don't they just send a 5 or 6 year old to college right away to learn?

With respect, Sunday school....In the church that I am co-owner, not one single parent drops their kid off and goes home. And the responsibility of teaching their own children is on them as well. Where or are there parents who do this in other churches...yes, and those parents need to be counseled. And church just does not happen 1 or two days a week, church is a way of life. I grew up in Jehovah's witness congregations, and have attended various other denominations, so again with respect, you know very little of child biblical education and the family unit and the church. But you are right, children grow up imitating their parents actions. Little people are more capable than we think, they are also more fragile than we assume.
