  1. Oh wouldn't it be lovely if we could receive our instruction from God in that way.

Or if we could all read Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek.  And if it were all truly meant for all people to understand.

Their lives may have been harder in a physical way, but I would think their lives were simpler in a spiritual way.

  2. 14 hours ago, Outta Here said:

Maybe Jehovah is allowing time for a faithless "generation" to die off before entering the promised land???

Well I had thought that from 1975 until 2015. 40 years in the wilderness. :) But i was wrong of course.

As for @JW Insider's comment. Your heading of this topic seemed quite firm.  But if I say any more you will just call me a troll.  And yes I think Armageddon will be here within less than 10 years now and hopefully I will not be alive to see it.

  3. I didn't bother to read all of @Arauna's rant because she was only making excuses for the Paedophiles in the CCJW and the dishonesty of the GB in withholding information from the American courts and authorities.  Her first sentence said it all really.

Question: Is it really about MORALITY or are they going after all christian religions?

The answer is that they are going after Paedophiles so that CHILDREN can be protected. And obviously the GB and most JWs think more of the Organisation than they do about God, Christ and children.  The Superior Authorities were put in place by God and this scripture is quite clear about it.

    Romans 13 v 1 through 4.

Let every person be in subjection to the superior authorities, for there is no authority except by God the existing authorities stand placed in their relative positions by God.  Therefore, whoever opposes the authority has taken a stand against the arrangement of God;  those who have taken a stand against it will bring judgment against themselves.  For those rulers are an object of fear, not to the good deed, but to the bad.  Do you want to be free of fear of the authority? Keep doing good, and you will have praise from it;  for it is God’s minister to you for your good. But if you are doing what is bad, be in fear, for it is not without purpose that it bears the sword. It is God’s minister, an avenger to express wrath against the one practicing what is bad.

It is so sad when JWs, including the GB,  disobey God deliberately, just to protect an organisation.

  4. Oh dear, feathers ruffled very quickly. So, there must be some truth in my comment above.

For anyone that is interested. I think i can remember JWI saying that the GB were 'backing off' (my phrase) from the 1914 teachings. I even think I remember him quoting how many times, per year, that it was used in W/t mags. Hence when i saw it in this fairly new W/t i was surprised.

When you look at the title of this very topic :

"ALL aspects of 1914 doctrine are now problematic from a Scriptural point of view"

Then you would think my comment above would be quite acceptable to honest hearted ones.

I did do a bit of research and found out that the 1914 date had some relation to Pyramidology / Russell / Rutherford, which was still believed up until 1928. Not exactly 'Holy Spirit' guiding that was it ?

My answer to @Arauna is this.  The Bible does not mention 1914 at all. So the Witnesses that believe in 1914 are not doing so because they believe what the Bible says, they are doing so because they believe what the Governing Body says.

My answer to @JW Insider is this. I quote you

We all have opinions, and when it comes to interpretation, it doesn't matter how strongly we believe them or present them: they're still opinions.

This applies just as much to the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses. They are not inspired or guided by Holy Spirit, they have proved as much by the things they write about the Anointed remnant.

If you people wish to judge me as a troll, then so be it. I am willing to suffer all insults because i seek truth and honesty.  But i do realise that truth hurts, so I'm prepared for the backlash.

  5. I know this is dragging up an old topic but having just been given the No 2, 2020 Watchtower

What Is God's Kingdom ? Page 10 Second and third paragraphs.

( I see the GB are still pushing the year 1914.  )

"The sign that Jesus gave, along with Bible chronology, helps us understand that God set up his Kingdom in heaven in the year 1914. * At that time, he installed his Son, Jesus Christ, as King. (Psalm 2:2, 4, 6-9) Soon, God’s Kingdom will rule the earth, and it will remove all rival rulerships and make the earth a paradise for humans to live in forever.

Shortly, the words of the model prayer that Jesus taught will be fulfilled: “Let your Kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also on earth.” (Matthew 6:10) What, though, has the Kingdom been doing since it took power in 1914? And what can we look forward to when the Kingdom takes complete rulership of mankind?"

I thought the GB / CCJW / Watchtower  had stopped pushing this 1914 idea.

I thought @JW Insider had given us many points to show how wrong 1914 is.

I was surprised to see it so prominently pushed as being 'fact'.

  6. Then you Mr Tom, must have also been off topic as I only picked up on your comment which was directly above mine. It was your praising up of Russell remember ?  As for neutrality, JWs don't seem to know the meaning of it. And every topic on here, even so say non religious ones, always mention the CCJW as being the one and only 'true' religion, which it isn't at the moment of course.

Yes, go and hide in your 'closed club'.

  7. Um, Russell. didn't he build a house expecting the prophets to come and live in it ?  And um, didn't he say that Rutherford should NOT take over the Bible Students ? And um, wasn't he racist and said that black people were of lower intelligence ?

I'm sure the list goes on (more than I do :) ). And the joke from you Tom I quote

We Witnesses may not be ones for exalting humans

Of course you exalt humans. You put your GB on the biggest ever pedestal. You worship them by saying they are the 'Faithful and Discreet Slave' when it is so obvious that they are not so.

    And this is also funny Tom, Quote ;

What is amazing is that he has no concept that scripture might be grasped as a coherent whole. It is perfectly fine with him to cherry-pick verse,

Your GB always cherry pick verses to suit their own purpose. As an example I mentioned this in regard to Revelation 5 v 9 & 10. But the Org use verses 8 and 9 to mean everyone, whereas verse 10 proves it is the Anointed only.  And the GB use the Matthew scripture to give themselves that title of F&DS.

So it is quite easy to see how your GB cherry pick scripture.

You are so funny Tom, have you been drinking strong coffee?  Quote again :

The basic Bible teachings that Jehovah’s Witnesses are known for, so different from what may be found in any of the churches, have been in place for well over a hundred years.

The basic Bible teachings have been there since the Bible was written nearly 2,000 years ago.

But the JW interpretations keep changing. For instance the 7,000 year Creative days, and Armageddon coming in the mid 70's was never a Bible teaching from GOD. Stop living in a dream world Tom.

  8. It was and still is all about control of people. It was about the leaders giving orders and the congregants obeying without question.

That can clearly be seen when proper research is done about the late 1960's and early 1970's, when people sold their houses and possessions and moved into tiny accommodation, just following instructions from their leaders in the Org. Many people were in big trouble financially when Armageddon didn't happen.

If they were not hung up on money they wouldn't be closing so many Kingdom Halls, Halls that were built on 'free labour' volunteers, just to sell for profit. And they wouldn't have real estate offices in different countries either.

Keep the people poor, keep the leaders rich. keep control. No different to worldly governments really.

  9. If 'spiritual food' is falling from heaven it is no where near the CCJW or Watchtower orgs that's for sure. And the GB admit to not being inspired so the spiritual food is no where near them either.

As regards money, i used to find it funny when the meetings were all about 'simplify your life',  'work less hours',  'no need for a decent education', do a part time manual labouring job,  BUT the Org still wanted donations every week and people still needed cars to get to meetings and were expected to drive around picking up other people that didn't have transport. And as more Kingdom Halls closed people had to drive even further and now, as @Arauna says, people need computers and internet and mobile phones / cell phones. All JWs are expected to have these things. But remember, keep your life simple :) .

  10. Quote @Arauna  JW's do not buy buildings for their value. We do not take income from the properties

  11. UPDATE

    https://nltimes.nl/2020/08/30/dutch-govt-launches-hotline-sexual-abuse-jehovahs-witnesses

DUTCH GOV'T LAUNCHES HOTLINE FOR SEXUAL ABUSE IN JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES

The government is expanding the 'Break the silence" hotline of Victim Support Netherlands so that there is a special hotline where victims of sexual abuse within the Jehovah's Witnesses can get the help they need, Minister Sander Dekker for Legal Protection announced. The Jehovah's Witnesses refused to set up its own, low-threshold internal hotline, so the Minister decided to do so himself.

"I expect every community or organization to do everything possible to combat sexual abuse and to help and support victims. That is not happening with the Jehovah's Witnesses and I find that extremely bad," Dekker said. "That is why we are reaching out now and victims from this community will soon be able to contact the 'Break the silence' hotline of Victims Support Netherlands. Victims are entitled to professional help and a listening ear, it cannot be that they run into a wall of reluctance."

The government agency for scientific research WODC investigated sexual abuse and the willingness to come forward in the Jehovah's Witnesses, following calls from Foundation Reclaimed Voices to do so, and concluded that there is evidence that coming forward is complicated by the closed nature fo the community. The WODC said it was essential for a low-threshold hotline to be created, and the government is doing so now after repeated instructions to the board of the Jehovah's Witnesses to create such a hotline were ignored.

I do wonder if Almighty God is using worldly leaders / governments to 'sort out' the CCJW.

God used worldly nations to punish the Nation of Israel and to destroy Jerusalem.

  12. We know that Almighty God and Jesus Christ are loving, just and merciful. And Jesus said that all authority has been given to him, so we know that Christ now has the power to put all things right.

I find it very easy to put my trust in God through Christ. My own wife 'lost' a child at 3 months old, so hopefully my wife will survive Armageddon or get a resurrection and then her child will be returned to her.  My faith is in God through Christ.

  13. Of course the Law needs to include the reporting of ALL Accusations of Sexual Abuse and other abuse. Otherwise Elders or others could simply say that they didn't report it as there was no proof sexual abuse / other abuse actually happened.  The wording of any such Law would have to be very carefully thought out as it needs to be 'bomb proof'.

What is also needed really is a 'safe house' for wives and children that want to report sexual abuse or other forms of abuse within their own household. It is often the husband / father that is the abuser and it is possible that a wife or child will not report because they have to continue living in the situation whilst it is investigated.

If this is in a JW household where the husband/father is an Elder then it becomes even more difficult for a wife/child to report it to Elders. This is where a 'safe house' or 'hiding place' could be necessary.

  14. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-netherlands-women-crime-trfn/netherlands-wants-to-punish-silence-on-sex-abuse-in-closed-communities-idUSKBN25O2IV

AMSTERDAM (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - The Dutch government wants to prosecute members of private groups and communities who fail to report sexual abuse in their organisations, a move that comes after Jehovah’s Witnesses rejected demands to tackle the under-reporting of abuse.

A 2019 report commissioned by the government to investigate sexual abuse involving Jehovah’s Witnesses found few cases were being reported to police, but group leaders dismissed calls for change and said they were being discriminated against.

Minister for Legal Protection Sander Dekker said the reluctance to change had spurred him to analyse how a law that punished organisations for failing to report sexual abuse could be structured.

“This makes it clear to me that the leadership (of the Jehovah’s Witnesses community) does not see or does not want to see the gravity of the situation. The leadership is leaving vulnerable victims out in the cold,” he said in a letter to parliament published late on Thursday.

Victims of sexual abuse in the Netherlands have the same right to access help, care and justice, regardless of which community they belong to,” he added, promising a progress update on the potential legislation later this year.
