Patiently waiting for Truth reacted to Srecko Sostar in I am reading: "Rutherford's Coup" by Rud Persson -- 600+ pages, and much too expensive!
The direction of movement of the WTS organization after Russell's death may be called by some as a distance and apostasy from what was established as "the truth" by Russell. This Russell is now called a "messenger" in the JW circle, and is likened to John the Baptist as the messenger of Jesus Christ.
On the other hand, today's WTJWorg opted for an explanation in which every "old truth" was never a "lie" but only a stepping stone to the "new truth".
Certainly, such an idea of WTJWorg is unbearable, because the truth cannot be built on false theses. Can false theses lead to true doctrine? Obviously, this is possible in the theory and practice of "Rutherford's organization".
If there is already a tendency to compare and give a certain meaning to Russell that he is like John, then we can ask ourselves what “doctrinal errors” did John make while preaching Jesus? And how can this be applied to Russell?
The comparison of GB with Jesus is unknown. I don’t think it’s ever been so openly portrayed in the WTJWorg literature, but it is hidden in a previous comparison / illustration and in an attempt to portray historical figures from the near and far history of the organization.

For a long time this carried the day with me as well, but in time I grew tired with the quality and predictability of the challenges.

As you might have guessed, I rarely pay attention to whether something is in the Open or Closed club. The Closed Club is definitely much more pleasant, many less distractions, but I'm sure it gives others the feeling that we have something to hide. The real reason, of course, is to stay away from persons who look for any reason they can think of to start fights, create dissension, highlight GB errors, and turn the subject to false predictions and child abuse. Come to think of it, that's a good enough reason.
There is one other consideration. I prefer to share opinions where they can be challenged from anyone, not just the dozen or so people who regularly participate in the Closed Club. There is also a better chance that someone else, who we don't know yet, is also reading the book and will come along to join in the discussion. That has happened before with discussions of God's name in the LXX, etc.
What I could do, also, is exercise my moderator powers and merely move any posts to a different topic if they are mostly unrelated. I think I'll try that. That goes for memes and pictures that are unrelated too, Pudgy. 😉 Actually, I'm always happy when I see a bunch of unrelated pictures from Pudgy, because it reminds me of how much quicker it is can be to read through a book that has lots of pictures --and they're usually funny! But I feel badly for those who start a serious topic, like Arauna just did, and it so quickly gets taken over by parody covers of children's books.
So, if I end up making a topic of comments on this book, I think I'll try just making a separate topic for the distractions. That doesn't mean people can't attack the book, or attack me for bringing it up. Those posts can remain, of course. But the little squabbles people want to bring up on the side will go to a topic made for that purpose. Assuming I can keep up. 😧

If John the Baptist is resurrected on Earth, perhaps he will prefer to live under a rock, wear discarded clothing, and walk around eating locusts and stuff.….. and then one day he will turn a corner, and there, in the parking lot, will be an Airstream Travel Trailer!

This is why one pub wisely said something to the effect that the reason we don't know how it's going to be or even how any of it is possible is because if we knew we might be put off by it in our messed up state. Better to just know who's doing the inviting and let it go at that.

Actually, if you listen to the words of ‘Sympathy for the Devil’ they are not objectionable at all. They are an exposure of the Devil’s M. O, the great wickedness people are capable of.
But I had to draw the line somewhere. I couldn’t very well gush on about ‘Sympathy for the Devil,’ as though I were a fan. Nor did I listen to the words for many decades, so it took me forever to realize just what the theme was.

I know all about the underground bunkers at Ramapo, that whole area is full of mineshaft and underground tunnels and it was perfectly suited for the hangers the Society used for building flying saucers and making clones that are normally put together at Jehovah’s Witness assembly halls.

So funny tom. The money is being used to build Ramapo fairyland and to pay for expences at Warwick.
One thing that always struck me as funny was that the Watchtower Leaders / GB were always saying that JWs should just have very basic jobs and lead a 'simple lifestyle' BUT then the Watchtower mags would say that JWs should always have a nice modern car and nice modern clothes, because they represent the JW Org.
Now they also tell JWs to drive more miles to get to the KH every week and even more miles to get to an assembly / convention. BUT don't go looking for higher wages or a better job.
It just shows two things, 1, that the GB want complete control over JWs, 2, that the GB are completely out of touch with the real life outside the Org.

Isn’t the Society building a hundred million dollar movie and video production facility close to Ramapo New York?
I admit I have lost track since Caleb and Sophia graduated from high school, and started working.

Those teachings were taught at definite truth.  That is deceit, not that is was "good enough" for those people who believed it WAS truth, and from Jesus Christ.  Can't you see the blasphemy involved by telling people that they should believe a doctrine as truth, only to find out they were deceived?  That is the clear sign of a false prophet, a false teacher; men who speak from their own heart's desires, their own mind.  They are not led by Holy Spirit. (Luke 6:45; 2 Cor 11:15)
"The one who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who is seeking the glory of the One who sent Him, He is true, and there is no unrighteousness in Him."  John 7:18
Bell bottoms are back, and the Millennials are wearing them.  Styles come and go, and come again. Your example does sum up Wt teachings.  What will be the next subject of your teaching of “this generation”, worldly people, or the anointed?  Which teaching will you be “wearing” at the doors a few years down the road?  Ezek 13:17,18

“And gas prices rose. David was very distressed because the worldmedianewsforum perennial gripers were talking of stoning him, for all the men had become very bitter over their KH sold to build 50 in developing lands, making them drive further, and they wanted to stone him for a million other reasons too. But David strengthened himself by Jehovah his God. (1 Samuel 30: 5-6) #freewheelingversion.

Most Croatian citizens are richer than those living in Africa, that is true. But we are actually among the poorer EU countries.
When an ordinary and average JW with a modest income gives money and / or work to build a KH, and then the WTJWorg sells that same hall, without a congregational resolution and without any monetary or material reimbursement to those brothers and sisters, then that is very rude and dishonest. And such examples are not lacking.
Bethel could at least invite them to a barbecue, drinks and cakes to celebrate the sale. :))

In the ancient Israeli congregation, rich people and the nobility had slaves.
In the new WTJWorg congregation, religious leaders have volunteers.
After the volunteer workers invest their labor and money in building the JW hall, GB sells it and keeps the money in the corporation.

Isn't that what Jesus expects of those whom he "sends"?
John 15:16 - “It is not that you have chosen me; but it is I who have chosen you. I have appointed you to go and bear fruit that will be lasting; so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he will give it to you."
Wt's changes are drastic, never holding the light of truth. Truth at its core, always radiates light in Christ.  It is valid truth.  It can't be argued away as lie.
Of this "truth", there is no core of light to build upon.  It is all a lie -
1971 "Shortly, within our twentieth century, the "battle in the day of Jehovah" will begin against the modern antitype of Jerusalem, Christendom." (The Nations Shall Know That I Am Jehovah; 1971; 2nd ed.; p. 216)
I tried going to the JW website to get more surrounding information.  The book is not available there.  Maybe it held too many "truths" that weren't really truths?  One obvious "truth" that no longer is truth according to your leaders, is the "antitype of Jerusalem, Christendom".  Did you know they erased that as "truth"?
