Western Today: Of course this is a matter of perspective, but in your view as a religious scholar, is there such a thing as a “bad religion?”
HF: "'Bad Religion' is a rock band from Los Angeles! Seriously, let me say that religions of all sizes and faith traditions do things all the time that I personally don’t like. But it is important to distinguish between the criminal, the ethical and the aesthetic. In both mainstream and marginal religions, things may happen that are unethical but are not technically illegal. And a religion may have beliefs or practices that I, or you, might personally find distasteful, but to which members have no objection. These are important differentiations in thinking about the behavior of a controversial group.
We also need to distinguish things done by individuals who belong to a religion and acts committed by members at their religion’s direction. This is important for both fairness, and to accurately understand the way violence can occur in religious settings. Statistically, the majority of Americans are either Roman Catholic or Protestant. And so it’s technically accurate to say most murderers in the United States are either Catholic or Protestant. But it would be a stretch to argue that these religions were encouraging members to commit murder.
There have definitely been instances where members of religions have committed violent crimes. Yet in some of the most inflammatory cases, like the Peoples Temple, the Order of the Solar Temple, and Aum Shinrikyo, the majority of lower-ranking members were not aware of the destructiveness perpetrated by an elite hierarchy. I think these instances hold an important insight for your question – it means that in even the most controversial religions, many if not most believers will not be “dangerous.” This definitely needs to shape how we think of religious difference." - https://westerntoday.wwu.edu/features/cults-new-christianities-and-religious-persecution-in-the-internet-age-a-qa-with-holly-folk
When you or some other JW member seek/use statements from other people who defend the WTJWorg position on one issue, then you must be aware that that same person is defending the position of other religions, against which the WTJWorg has a lot to say.
The tolerance of HF is greater than the tolerance of JW members and GB have to other religions. :))

The thing is that this abuse issue has been addressed and likely better addressed than any other organization on planet earth. How about we talk about the whole of Islam or the rest of the planet and all their actively terrible things being done? (China's concentration camps).
You won't hear these discuss any of this for the same reason that BLM doesn't care about black people - just advancing their Marxist agenda. So pot-shot takers are doing just that. They don't have any alternatives, they aren't building anything better. If they did and they were, then they'd be too busy doing that. Of course some are taking their shows on the road and monetizing their apostasy - at least they're making money. Some can't seem to even do that.

    https://news.bloomberglaw.com/privacy-and-data-security/jehovahs-witnesses-facing-norway-data-regulators-privacy-audit
The Norwegian Data Protection Authority says it will act on complaints made against the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ processing of members’ personal information.
Acting on “several complaints and tips,” the agency said it has sent a series of questions to the Norwegian branch of the global church.
According to the agency, the complaints relate to the processing of data held by judiciary committees, which act as the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ internal court system. Such committees can decide to take action against members who are found to have disobeyed the church’s protocols, which outlaw practices like nonmarital sex, homosexuality, and abortion, the agency said....

BEING raised in a highly religious community is seen by victims and survivors of child sexual abuse as one factor affecting their experience. This emerged today in a new report from the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA).
The Inquiry is building on information that it hears through its investigations, research, and through its Truth Project (News, 29 January). This latest consultation took the list of the nine “protected characteristics” identified in the Equality Act 2010, which protects people from discrimination in the UK.
Some described feeling isolated and unable to associate with anyone beyond their religious community. One described a culture of “insularity” in the Jehovah’s Witnesses, and how it fostered mistrust of secular authority. Another said that coming from a Christian background had led her “to rebel against my parents, leading me into the arms of a sexual predator”.

I found interesting claims on JWorg about GB.
The Governing Body is a small group of mature Christians who provide direction for Jehovah’s Witnesses worldwide. Their work is twofold:
They oversee the preparation of Bible-based instruction through the publications, meetings, and schools of Jehovah’s Witnesses.—Luke 12:42.
They supervise the worldwide work of Jehovah’s Witnesses by directing our public ministry and overseeing the use of donated assets.
The Governing Body follows the pattern set by “the apostles and elders in Jerusalem” in the first century, who made important decisions on behalf of the entire Christian congregation. (Acts 15:2) Like those faithful men, the members of the Governing Body are not the leaders of our organization.
The Governing Body has established six committees to oversee various aspects of our work, and each member serves on one or more of these committees. - https://www.jw.org/en/jehovahs-witnesses/faq/governing-body-jw-helpers/
Committees job is to: ... supervises ...oversees...directs)
I found this claims about "non leadership" status in WTJWorg confusing and is semantic dodge. Article says;  GB are not leaders. But their roles are explained with terminology that supports leadership position. They oversee, they supervise, they make important decisions. :))
And now we have 2 quotes:
Today, the Governing Body represents the faithful and discreet slave class. There was a similar arrangement in the first century. - https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2009443
It seems how FDS is "represented by" two Administration bodies: with GB and with Elders. And controversy going further with this statements:
The faithful slave must be made up of anointed Christians on earth. Such ones are called “a royal priesthood” .......It is only fitting that members of that “royal priesthood” have a direct share in teaching fellow believers the truth.-  https://www.jw.org/en/library/magazines/w20130715/who-is-faithful-discreet-slave/
:)) and also tragic theology for JW members.

There are also mistakes in methods and types of lessons. Lessons on how to react and how to show emotions. How to stand up for another/each other and how to stand up for yourself.

I prefer when people rabidly opposed are nonsensical. This fellow obliges nearly always. He trips himself up with almost every word. He is so intent on posting any challenge to the Christian organization, he doesn’t notice when what he posts aligns him with what is unrighteous. It is similar to how he used to align himself with Alan the Atheist, who said the most hateful things against God.
On the other hand, it is possible that I should just let the remark slide. On a platform other than this, I would indeed block him.

    https://www.irishtimes.com/news/crime-and-law/courts/circuit-court/man-who-sexually-exploited-girl-13-jailed-for-18-months-1.4488735

A man who sexually exploited a 13-year-old girl has been jailed for 18 months.   The man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the victim, was 29 when he met the girl through their mutual association with a local Jehovah’s Witness congregation.  Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard that over a period of time in 2016 he and the girl exchanged messages on Viber, including sexually explicit images of the child. The man, now aged 34 and with an address in Dublin, pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a child on dates in late 2016. He also admitted possession of sexually explicit images of the child, contrary to the Child Pornography and Trafficking Act, 1998.
The offending came to light when the girl’s older sister spotted the messages and semi-naked images on a shared computer device and alerted their mother........... He said that anything other than kissing or hugging in advance of getting married was not permitted and could lead to excommunication. He said that after his arrest and interview, his client went to “church elders” and self-reported his actions and was excommunicated for a period.
was excommunicated for a period.  This means he is not d/fed now I suppose, so is back in the congregation. Parents beware, look after your children in the congregations of JW org.

There is an anointed body, that must not be separated from one another.  1 Cor chapter 12
But what you see taking place in the Wt;  what you take part in, and what you believe as elders having full authority to rule over all, even the anointed, is an acceptable teaching...from superfine apostles. (Matt 24:48-51)
“Representing the royal priesthood are appointed elders, who serve in positions of responsibility in congregations of Jehovah’s people around the earth. These men deserve our respect and wholehearted support, whether they are of the anointed or not. Why? Because, through his holy spirit, Jehovah has appointed the older men to their positions. (Hebrews 13:7,17) How can that be?  w02 8/1 p. 13-14
These scriptures in Hebrews apply to the anointed body and their gifts, positions assigned to them by God as outlined in Eph 4:7-16.  However, Eph 4:7,8 is applied to you and your fellow elders instead.  This is verified in your magazines.
Were you appointed by Holy Spirit to be an elder?  Is this why you cross your fingers behind your back when approached by other elders for your rogue actions?
The crowns are worn by the elders in the organization – not by the anointed – not in the Wt. You have power over them, to judge them as spiritually “dead”.  (Rev 13:11,12,15)  Their status as God’s priests has been robbed from them, and given to the elders. (Mal 2:7; 1 Pet 2:5,9)  Although gathered/surrounded by a spurious rule over them, they are “scattered” throughout the congregations.  They have been taken spiritually captive, to lies.  Col 2:8; Rev 13:10; 16:13-16
You can either support the lie and continue to relish your position of lording it over the anointed, or you recognize them as God's genuine dwelling of Holy Spirit, and break the bonds of falsehoods  (1 Cor 3:16,17)
Do you know who the Wt. says are the locust swarm in Revelation 9?  It states these locusts are the anointed, with a stinging message. This is a lie.  This huge army comes against the anointed who have not been sealed in the heavens - the anointed under elder rule.  (Rev 9:3,4; 7:4)

I can see the jealousy in your words. There is no onus on me to prove anything, as it comes directly from scripture. So you have a choice, you believe God's word or you don't.
It's kind of strange of you to suggest that the Anointed are self appointed. Whereas the GB appoint themselves as the Faithful and Discreet slave. I see hypocrisy there.
Well I'll just quote from a Watchtower here then.
    https://www.jw.org/en/library/magazines/watchtower-study-january-2016/we-want-to-go-with-you/
“We Want to Go With You”

1, 2. (a) What did Jehovah say would happen in our time? (b) What questions will be answered in this article? (See opening picture.)
SPEAKING of the time in which we are living, Jehovah foretold: “In those days ten men out of all the languages of the nations will take hold, yes, they will take firm hold of the robe of a Jew, saying: ‘We want to go with you, for we have heard that God is with you people.’” (Zech. 8:23) Like the figurative ten men, those who have an earthly hope have taken “firm hold of the robe of a Jew.” They are proud to associate with the spirit-anointed “Israel of God,” knowing that Jehovah is blessing his anointed ones.—Gal. 6:16.
So it seems that even your GB / Watchtower believe the same as me.  The difference being though that i don't believe your GB is the JEW that people need to follow.
You (and others) seem to have a problem with believing in and helping those that are Truly Anointed, but go careful as you may recall the words of Jesus saying (recorded at Matthew 25 )
When did we see you a stranger and receive you hospitably, or naked and clothe you? 39  When did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40  In reply the King will say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
Then they too will answer with the words: ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison and did not minister to you?’ 45  Then he will answer them, saying: ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of these least ones, you did not do it to me.’ 46  These will depart into everlasting cutting-off, but the righteous ones into everlasting life.”
Your jealousy could loose you your life.

11am UK time. I put on my computer and i have 16 notifications from this forum. Oh dear, and this rubbish is the first comment I read. (If I miss anyone's comments, sorry but 16 comments are a bit much right now).
Elder, I can see you are both dishonest and a wind up merchant just looking for trouble. Either that or you just don't like English people. Whichever, maybe you should remember that the only 'authority' you have is over your own congregation.
But i suppose I will waste a couple of minutes answering you, because the weather isn't good enough for me to go work on one of my vehicles.  Right :-
Nowhere have I said what other ordinary people should or should not do. I personally do not care if people go to a 'church' of their choice to meet together and worship in their own way. And like i say Elder, you are just following your GB and tribe in twisting words.
What i said was, that no organinisation is serving GOD PROPERLY at this time. But if people wish to continue with their religious gatherings, that it their choice. Who am i to tell them not to.
Now, YOU SAID So you agree that it's absolutely wrong.. Tell me then, who would I be agreeing with ?  You must be suggesting that others are saying those things. To 'agree' with someting, there has to be another person saying it.
However, I do not agree with you idea here. And it does seem to be YOUR IDEA as i don't see the idea coming from anyone else.
BUT, I'll repeat one thing. Your GB tells the Anointed NOT TO GATHER TOGETHER, to the point that your GB say the Anointed would be WORKING AGAINST THE HOLY SPIRIT if they did gather together for worship or Bible study.
So you think on that, maybe that is where you are getting your idea from.
I do think that genuine Christians should communicate with other genuine Christians, but probably not in person right now, as many countries are in 'lock down' due to covid-19.

    https://www.wesa.fm/post/after-state-blunder-pa-abuse-victims-ask-who-hell-are-we-supposed-trust#stream/0
The news that Pennsylvania had screwed up the process for putting a constitutional amendment before voters that would allow victims of decades-old sexual abuse to sue hit Jay Sefton hard.
When the Pennsylvania Department of State failed to advertise the proposed constitutional amendment that had been passed by the legislature, it halted a march toward justice for thousands of victims abused in the commonwealth. The constitutional amendment process takes two years, and unless an emergency provision passes by mid-April, it would be 2023 before victims would be given a window to sue over decades-old sexual abuse claims.
You can read the whole article by clicking on the link at top but I'll just add this bit here
In addition to the Catholic Church, the Jehovah’s Witnesses and Boy Scouts of America have each come under fire and scrutiny for allegations that they did nothing to root out child abusers within their ranks. They represent additional thousands of potential plaintiffs in Pennsylvania, according to advocates.
“It doesn’t make sense,” said Rozzi. “It really makes you want to find out what really happened over there and did maybe a powerful institution have a role in making sure this didn’t happen.”

For all the brouhaha about the Revelation book being THE TRUTH and YOU’D BETTER BELIEVE IT OR ELSE!! It plainly says that it is not to be taken that way.
From page 9: “It is not claimed that the explanations in this publication are infallible. Like Joseph of old, we say: ‘Do not interpretations belong to God?’ At the same time, however, we firmly believe that the explanations set forth herein harmonize with the Bible in its entirely.”
Don’t quite buy this portion or that? It’s not an issue. It is then “state of the art” interpretation, but nobody says it must be spot on in all aspects. If you burst into a Kingdom Hall Rambo-like with a flamethrower you may encounter some trouble, but otherwise nobody says you have to eat up every word.
Still I am not sure what is so terrible about it. I still think it more than serviceable. Other than a few places where they might have said, as Morgan Freeman did to Miss Daisy, “We’re not going to worry about what’s in the middle?” (some of those early conventions, which I always thought were stretching it) I think it holds up well.
You are so paranoid. You can download it on the JWLibrary app right now.
