But they do talk about things in the CCP government that they do not like. Of course they talk about bad things happening in their area. There are even protests. My son knows persons who have participated in the protests. You can even find them discussed on YouTube and WeChat channels.

Jehovah's Organization and the 40 year refinement periods...
Soon, all the inhabitants of the earth will have to know God's Name Jehovah. "I will not allow my holy name to be profaned any longer; and the nations will have to know that I am Jehovah" (Ezekiel 39:7)
The refinement periods of 40 years are a repeated pattern throughout the scriptures that are often applied to God's People. The first pattern was applied to all the inhabited earth in 1914. The 40 year pattern thrice. (1914 + 120 =2034). It's during this period that specific and overlapping refinement periods can be applied. Jehovah is a God of order and not one of chaos. (1 Corinthians 14:33)
There are many refinement periods, but I will speak of the ones about the anointed and great crowd that will be ushered into Christ Millennial Reign. In 1919, the faithful and discreet slave of anointed ones were chosen to take the lead of God's People upon the earth and bring a Public Announcement of Denunciation upon Babylon The Great. The time period for this can easily be obtained by applying the three 40 year periods. (1919 + 120 =2039) We know the anointed do not live on earth indefinitely, each anointed person must finish their earthly course successfully to realize their heavenly reward. Today, we know that Babylon the Great is on borrowed time, she has been on fire and burning since 1919. Each year that gets closer to 2039, we SEE the nations growing agitated with her as she cannot bring prosperity and peace to the Earthly Kings. Rather, she has embezzled luxury and riches from her suitor. It's not likely she will survive 2039 but come to her end, never to be found again.
In 1930 the Bible Students took on the name 'Jehovah's Witnesses' as God's Organization upon the earth. Jehovah's Organization entered into three refinement periods since 1935. In 1935 we entered into a New Era. *** w15 2/15 p. 32 “A Very Precious Season” ***
"The year 1935 marked a dramatic change that affected future Memorial observances, for the meaning of the “great multitude” (KJ), or “great crowd,” of Revelation 7:9 was clarified. Until then, Jehovah’s servants had viewed this group as consecrated Christians who were less zealous. Now this vast throng was identified as faithful worshippers who hope to live on a paradise earth. Following this clarification and after some careful self-examination, Russell Poggensee acknowledged: “The heavenly hope had not been awakened within me by Jehovah through his holy spirit.” Brother Poggensee—and many loyal ones like him—stopped partaking of the emblems but continued to attend the Memorial."
The book Life Everlasting—In Freedom of the Sons of God, released at a series of district conventions held in 1966, pointed to 1975. Right at the convention, as the brothers examined the contents, the new book triggered much discussion about 1975.
At the convention held in Baltimore, Maryland, F. W. Franz gave the concluding talk. He began by saying: “Just before I got on the platform a young man came to me and said, ‘Say, what does this 1975 mean?’” Brother Franz then referred to the many questions that had arisen as to whether the material in the new book meant that by 1975 Armageddon would be finished, and Satan would be bound.
He stated, in essence: ‘It could. But we are not saying. All things are possible with God. But we are not saying. And don’t any of you be specific in saying anything that is going to happen between now and 1975. But the big point of it all is this, dear friends: Time is short. Time is running out, no question about that.’
The third and final 40 year refinement period began in 2015 with a plethora of understanding to the regards of the overlapping generation about 'this generation'. In the early weeks of January, 2015, at one of our midweek meetings. A Brother quietly and calmly walked up to the podium and stated, "New partakers that start partaking are not part of 'this generation'. With that 10 second announcement my eyebrows raised and thinking to myself that those anointed sometime after 1990 or 1995 are not contemporaries of those alive that saw Christ Presence in 1914. Then for clarification, Brother David H. Splane gave the explanation in the video titled, "Close to the End of This System of Things".
From this point on, we can start emphasizing these two scriptures in this manner.
"... and then the end will come." (Matthew 24:14)
"... and from these turn away. " (2 Timothy 3:5)

Patiently waiting for Truth reacted to Space Merchant in Dear Librarian I have a JW neighbour who lets his dog to go out without any supervision. For what I see this dog goes in the streets looking for food. He must not feed him.Isn't this animal cruelty? How he can pretend to be a ministerial servant if he is
@Patiently waiting for Truth The fact you danced around that question shows that the old discussion in regards to Anna being involved was correct, and your answer is predictable. CSA has nothing to do with religion, for in your words, it is a worldwide issue. When it comes to social media, CSA is ridiculous worse because often times it is abusers using a platform to lure people. The reason I even address the question to you is due to the fact that you said it yourself, you left JWs because of CSA, but when it comes to a media platform, you cannot bring yourself to do the same, therefore, is shows what was proven time and time again for some folks, including you.
That being said, I suggest you look into the 5k children, JB, for you hold IICSA to a standard, perhaps that should have peeked your interest without question.
You still use said platform which has issues with CSA, no one mentioned working there. Not wise to dance around the latter question.
No one is asking for a search, it is merely stated there is CSA on Facebook. Granted CSA is there, like your former faith, what is keeping you from leaving?
Unfortunately, you can advise, but not everyone ahs good intent.
There is CSA on Facebook. Surely you can leave it just for that, can't you.
Continue to dodge the point, granted the question was posed due to your saying of leaving JWs; hence, that could be equated to everything else.
Again, no one is asking about working. Why continue to dodge why brining up occupation-sque remarks.
Facebook is unsafe as well, so surely you can leave, right?
A recent was allowed back on Facebook, let that sink in. Will you leave it for that?
I don't care about the GB, I am focused on a platform that has issues with CSA. After all, you brought up CSA in this thread.
The issue here is your remark vs the question about Facebook. I have no problem with social media, only the misinformation. But the question addressed to you is in regards to your remarks about CSA.
Facebook is dangerous too. Would you like to know the recent events regards to CSA outside of the 5k groomed children? Some cases are not PG.
Granted you left the JWs because of CSA, I don't see why you cannot do the same for Facebook.
    Likewise with social media platforms.
Is that so? But some of your reactions here can now be deemed questionable, if you hold true to that statement. As is with your remark to @xero in this same thread, concerning unproven animal cruelty, you were quick to make a remark, even being unaware of how Americans tend to leave well trained dogs alone at times, moreover, granted the owner is JW, and Xero is most likely JW, you were quick make an assumption. That is the same mindset of those in London with ill intent of their own to some degree, but with some parallels.
But when Facebook spouts lies, and or those not realizing what Big Tech is capable of, why not speak in the same manner in regards to that?
I brought up Boris Johnson for a reason, and regards to what he told children recently, Facebook blocked opposition truth with misinformation. Surely you can leave Facebook just from that, can't you, hence, the older discussion.
Christians are aware that there is spiritual warfare taking place, it isn't uncanny for them to state the same thing. For, there is indirect action that is effecting any Bible Reader as we speak, even young ones.
There are JWs with Godly devotion, there are even some here. But the fact you are steering more and more into GB/WT mantra to evade the Facebook question is predictable, even evident.
No one is mentioned Facebook as a religion, it was coined that CSA exists in Facebook, anything pretending to child abuse, grooming, sodomy, rape, luring, human trafficking, rape, as is with the numerous of those who exploit the system for power and political gain, attempts to deplatform.
That said, CSA is there, again I ask you, what is stopping you from leaving, granted you easily left JWs for CSA primarily. CSA in this form is, in a sense, far worse than that of old tactics used by those with ill intent, and it is far more dangerous now in the age of COVID-19.
There are people looking at specific individuals as "God" and "serve" said God. Then you have the situation with Big Tech. Clearly you are unaware of your so called tool of a platform. Then there is censoring, which correlates with CSA.
    Wrong.
There is a comparison. You always see me say that no one is immune to child abuse. Child Abuse is in schools, churches, etc, therefore I always bring up education, ironically, IICSA even addresses something similar to the source I use.
As always pointed out, Jehovah's Witnesses are not immune either, and some folks can potentially not notice the Red Flags, even EXJWs, are unaware, granted, a year or two ago, Truthers found someone, from the EXJW community who essentially defended an abuser. Facebook, also has CSA, and it is rampant, and the fact the police are struggling with this in the United Kingdom should alarm you.
Seems you are adding on to the narrative to deviate from a simple question.
Ok, then answer the question - If you can leave your former faith because of Child Sex Abuse, why can't you do the same for Facebook (various media)? Which has it worse concerning Child Sex Abuse, in some cases, the algorithm itself enables big problems for children.
Everything I said in the past is true, concerning some people, even those of other faiths, in addition to that, Anna's remarks in an old thread. The irony here, the question addressed towards you makes it wildly predictable.
That being said, perhaps next time you should be aware of your own platform and be very careful of what you say. CSA exist everywhere, and it is far worse in media then it is in schools and churches because of how much of a dynamic abusers have to use said tools, even use the system to lie in order to gain access to children. Why else you think Facebook is changing their name? Many reasons to take the smoke off of them if you.

No. My own study and research about China is ongoing, not just based on a visit or a long association with a Chinese colleague who visited family in both HK and the mainland every year. And my son's learning of the language and continuing contact with several people in several districts of China is also ongoing. And still, I don't know all about Xi.
The basic modus operandi of anti-China propaganda is to exaggerate a long list of items, so that if one is seen to be possibly debunked, then a whole slew of other issues are ready to be flung. This way, one can always divert attention against specific bits of propaganda by merely saying, "Oh yeah, then what about Taiwan? . . . What about the China Sea? . . . What about the Uyghurs? What about the Wuhan lab? What about Tibet? What about damming rivers and water rights? What about Inner Mongolia? What about Hong Kong? What about organ harvesting? What about support of countries that the West hates? What about mining in Africa? What about trade wars, currency manipulation, aggressive military actions, etc.?
The list is made long enough so that a complete debunking of any one claim will be meaningless. Any debunkable bit of propaganda must still be true, because the long list of other items must prove that there is no need to pay attention to evidence about any single item. The mind is shut before one can discuss the first item, much less a second and a third item.
And then there is the problem that anyone defending China in the midst of all this propaganda must immediately be labeled naive. That person will be seen as trying to exonerate China completely from these issues, even though some have a partial basis in truth. This implies the strawman argument that a defender must think China can do no wrong.
I won't take on your list of issues again here by showing where the likelihood of both evidence and lack of evidence actually points. But I would repeat again that a lot of evidence and research tells me that most of the anti-China propaganda I have heard, including most of the topics you bring up, are based on exaggerations and re-interpretations of issues that are common to many countries. When these issues are repeated widely, often, and over long periods of time, they become intractable. A lot of lies and propaganda are told about Western countries, too. Much of it is based on some fact, but it's mostly a geopolitical game that goes on everywhere.
I know that in the past I personally was much too reflexive and naive in just accepting anything bad I heard about China, just because I knew that they really are pretty bad on a few issues (like accepting freedom of religion).
Edited to add: Any statements or evidence I might offer that defends China from exaggerations should not be confused with defending Japan, Russia, or Ukraine, or any of the several countries which are forced to look to China for aid when those countries are cut off from Western alliances for aid.

Even that solution has a built-in problem. The reason is that the goals of various organizations can easily be reached by merely leveraging the West's distrust of China. When any of the individuals and organizations would like attention or funding they need only report a negative story from China, and then claim that the negative action was an official act of the Chinese government.
It's like someone reading about a bank robbery in the United States, and then claiming that Biden (or Trump, etc) is now seizing all bank assets in the United States. Too many people in the world read English for such a story to gain traction anywhere. But stories about China can even pretend to be correctly translating a Chinese posting, and not enough people would complain. My son and I went through a NYT article a couple years ago that linked to several pages of Chinese documentation about Chinese goals with respect to religion, anti-terrorism, etc., and many of its translations were skewed to the point of creating direct falsehoods. Some were about as bad as if an English article had said "the U.S. Public School system provides education and vocational training" and the translation became "Regime-sponsored juvenile detention centers promote propaganda and forced labor."
The idea of the US "provocation diplomacy" is to make sure that all these anti-China stories, some true, some exaggerated, and some made up out of thin air, will become such a constant stream that it's too tedious to produce material defending the preposterous. So the general idea of a dystopian regime sticks. You won't find material defending against every negative claim. Because even if China stands up 100% against a preposterous claim, the report in the West is still going to be that China "admitted" the problem when they didn't. Or that China said they aren't doing that any more. Or that they could only deny the problem in the face of "overwhelming" (i.e., non-existent) evidence.
This probably sounds ludicrous, to most consumers of anti-China reporting, but I have amazing examples of everything I just said.
It is true that religion is not the same thing in China as it is in Christian and Muslim countries. In the West and Mid-East, the depth of one's faith is shown by how strongly you will stand up for (and how strongly you will defend the difference between) your belief and the belief of something you think gets in the way of that belief. In the US, it's often the fundamentalists against "progressive politics" that defend or promote abortion and gay rights and the like. In the Mid-East it can be the same thing, or the difference between two version of Islam. Even in the US, UK, and elsewhere in Europe, a thousand times more religious ink has been spilled over the tiniest of differences between similar religions than over the major differences between disparate religions.
In China most people don't think of religion as beliefs that need to conflict with the state, they just think of religion as sets of specific, traditional old rituals. This was also true in old Greece and Rome, where most religion was hallowed rituals, not specific beliefs. So the communist propagandists in China are really more actively "religious" in "evangelizing" a belief system than they would expect of the religions themselves to be evangelizing. In fact, it's promoting beliefs where most of the problem lies with Christian-styled religions in China. They all inevitably came from the West, and most of them have also been the source of spies and missionary-imperialism. Today, the ones that get in trouble try to convert people from non-Christian religion to Christian religion, and most of those have made strong statements against governments in general, and the Chinese government specifically. The communist ideologists, still feel a duty to try to convert Western religionists to a more secular or at least a more ritualistic religion that doesn't fly in the face of the state.
I know of a non-JW case in China where the young man, of a 'Christian' religion, was exploited by a evangelizing group from Spain when he was in college in China. When it was discovered that this evangelizing religion was exploiting young people for money, and volunteer evangelism, it was only that group from Spain who got in serious trouble, but not the Christian group he was already a part of.

The letter writing has been frightening many people in England. Some people think they are being 'singled out' or 'picked on' and it makes them worry who is doing such a thing. There has been newspaper articles reporting how people are being upset by it all. However, it does prove that people are reading the letters.  It's mainly older folk that cannot make proper sense of it all. But if it gets some people thinking about God, Christ and the Bible, then it has to be good.

Patiently waiting for Truth reacted to Matthew9969 in Luke 23:43 and its meaning...
Date: January 19, 2015Author: Craig Truglia0 Comments In this episode of “Offending the Jehovah’s Witnesses,” our response to DefendingJehovahsWitnesses.Blogspot.com, we are going to cover their “translation” of Luke 23:43.
DefendingJehovahsWitnesses.Blogspot.com is a front of JW.org, the official website of the Watchtower Society. Instead of being honest and admitting that the Governing Body is purposely trying to respond to criticisms of their organization, the website is hosted by “Elijah Daniels” who otherwise cannot be found on Google or contacted. Their website does not allow comments, so we respond here as a means to make people aware of the lies taught by the Governing Body of the organization.
For those unaware of the NWT translation of the verse and the immediate context of the article here it is:
Addressing this issue, the late Dr. Julius Mantey, noted NT Greek scholar and strong trinitarian, allegedly wrote a powerful attack against the honesty and accuracy of the NWT. He complained of the NWT’s “attempt to deliberately deceive people by mispunctuation by placing a comma after `today’ in Luke 23:43,” when he knows better than anyone that none of the earliest manuscripts (up to the 9th century A.D.) originally had capitalization or punctuation! Later copyists have added punctuation wherever they felt it should be!
Just because a modern text writer decides where he wants the punctuation and capital-ization to be in his interpretation of the original text (as Westcott and Hort did for the text that is used by the NWT and Nestle did in the text used by the NASB, etc.) does not mean that is how the original Bible writer intended the meaning – as explained in the Kingdom Interlinear footnote for this verse…Yes, there is no reason to deny the rendering of Luke 23:43 as, “I tell you today, You will be with me in Paradise.”
As we can see “Elijah Daniels” mischaracterizes Dr. Mantey’s argument as disingenuously implying Greek originally had punctuation. However, Mantey says nothing of the sort. Rather, he is saying that anyone who understands Greek would have not understood the passage as Christ emphasizing the word “today” the way it is portrayed in the NWT.
For example, the NWT renders Luke 23:43 as, “I tell you today, you will be with me in Paradise.”
Every single other respectable translation says something along the lines of “And He [Jesus] said to him, ‘Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.'”
Why do most people take the latter interpretation?
First, it reads better from the literal rendering of the Greek:
καὶ [And] εἶπεν [he said] αὐτῷ [to him] Ἀμήν [Truly] σοι [to you] λέγω [I say] σήμερον [today] μετ [with] ἐμοῦ [me] ἔσῃ [you will be] ἐν [in] τῷ [the] Παραδείσῳ [Paradise]
As we can see, the Greek says without reversing word order, “Truly to you I say today with me you will be in Paradise.”
Second, this rendering not only makes the most sense to the modern translators (and literal rendering of the Greek), it also makes the most sense to ancient translators as well.
Saint Jerome, an expert of Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic, and Latin understood the Greek as follows:
I feel confident that my words are true: conversion can never be too late. The words to the dying robber are a pledge of this: Verily I say unto you, today shall you be with me in paradise (Jerome, To Paula, Letter 39:1).
As we can see, Jerome understands what Christ said to the thief on the cross to mean that Christ affirmed the thief’s salvation. The NWT rendering, that Jesus merely uses the word “today” as a figure of speech, would have made no sense to Jerome.
Third, to a speaker conversant in Koine Greek from the fourth century AD, the NWT rending also did not occur to him:
In which humanity He was crucified and died for us, and rose from the dead, and was taken up into the heavens, having been created as the beginning of ways for us (Proverbs 8:22), when on earth He showed us light from out of darkness, salvation from error, life from the dead, an entrance to paradise, from which Adam was cast out, and into which he again entered by means of the thief, as the Lord said, ‘This day shall you be with Me in paradise’ (Luke 23:43), into which Paul also once entered (Athanasius, Statement of Faith, Chapter 1).
As we can see, Saint Athanasius (an enemy to JWs and a defender of the doctrine of the Trinity) understood the verse to mean that the thief had already “entered” Paradise.
How does “Elijah Daniels” expect to be taken seriously when 1. All the modern Greek experts disagree with the NWT, 2. Ancient translators disagreed with the NWT, and 3. Someone who spoke Koine Greek understood the verse as the latter two parties did?
I guess that’s why the Watchtower will disfellowship you for merely using your mind. Thinking is a dangerous thing when someone wants you to accept false teaching

You missed the point entirely. The media you use has been revealed, in connection to what the MSM in the UK is telling the general public vs what they're not telling them, evident only your reliance on sky news in some cases and what they are not trying to say to the public of the UK. In this you have to be very careful.
This has nothing to do with judging. The platform in question played a role in grooming of children, granted that is part of CSA, wouldn't that enable you to disband said connection to such media?
You told me once you love Facebook, and elsewhere, you left JWs for CSA, what is stopping you from doing the same with said media? Out of curiosity.
And yet some jumped to conclusions of animal cruelty with not much evidence in the face of the rule of thumb concerning domestic animals.
This is true, but there are other aspects. You do not know the actions of those who handle said animals, this is why I mentioned the cow example. This is the same with fruit and produce, for you could be taking in chemicals in your body because of how the person(s) in question handles it. But to some that type of food is so good, they do not bother to inspect or clean or learn where it came from.
Seeing how things are in the US and UK, as is what Bill Gates have been up to, you may want to think twice about not only what you are eating, but the source of which it is coming from. Americans as well as British folks tend to consume too much of something that isn't good for them, something such as Soybean.
This has nothing to do with separation from the world, it is more so of taking action. What I conveyed to you is in connection with recent events.
Current or former, you just said you do not judge people and or persons. Ironically a while back you were quick to judge Islam, although you are not part of it. You should have chosen your words carefully.
That is an action though. So why not leave Facebook? 5k children, UK based, lured, groomed, drugged, etc. More even knowing to law, some situations so outlandish, some instances far worse that institutional CSA, so why not leave? Perhaps YouTube as shouldn't be used, granted, a child predator, of which I and a few others help terminate was brought back into the platform.
No one passed judgment but rather took action.
So what is stopping you from using media granted of how damning CSA is in media vs institutions?
Then why not leave it entirely as you did the JW faith? CSA is quite rampant, hence what UK police was able to dig up. Ironically, this connects back to the events of Tommy Robinson.
But it has CSA, surely you can leave it. If you can leave a faith for the same reason, it would not stop you from abstaining from it, as is with YouTube. Granted, you often times criticize those who has nothing to do with CSA but bring it up.
Facebook apps used in more than 5,000 child grooming crimes, says UK charity
The IICSA also found something interesting despite them never mentioning the person of status.
That being said, you always bring up CSA issues with JWs and even attest to the fact it was a contributing factor you left it, yet when it is anything else not JW related with the same issue, perhaps even greater, seems like the tune has changed.
As a side note, Bojo (Boris Johnson) said something quite demeaning to children recently about animals. It is not funny to joke about such things to children, granted what he said was mildly dark, if I may add. Children should not have heard such, as for animals, even the domestic ones, should not be subjected to what was professed; for it kind of shows how some in authority sees people, mainly the unvaccinated.
I recommending avoiding the people in the UK who blame their own for CSA, such ones cannot be reasoned with, mainly due to what is to come on your neck of the woods.

@TrueTomHarley and your point is ?
JWs here in the UK are not getting tortured or locked in prison. That doesn't mean JWs here in the UK are not concerned about JWs in Russia or elsewhere.
So, on that same principle, JWs in any country should be concerned about Child Sexual Abuse in the whole of the Watchtower / JW Org Earth wide.
Are you therefore suggesting that JWs in one country should show no interest in the JW activity in another country ?
And I note that the good old GB and Co, sued the Belgium Ministry of Justice ( outcome to follow )
On June 18, 2021, the Belgian Jehovah’s Witnesses sued the Belgian Ministry of Justice, considering it responsible for the CIAOSN, for defamation. A hearing on the defamation claim is scheduled for May 5, 2022.
Whereas Jesus wasn't concerned about being 'counted amongst lawless ones'
    Luke 22 : 37
For I tell you that what is written must be accomplished in me, namely, ‘He was counted with lawless ones.’ For this is being fulfilled concerning me.”
The GB and it's many Orgs act in complete opposition to Jesus Christ.
And my point still stands as true :-
How can you be concerned about a dog, but not concerned about Child Sexual Abuse in the JW Org ?

So then I must be an indecent person as I get more infuriated by CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE.
Think of me as you will, I feel more for humans than I do for animals. And I feel more sympathy for children than adults.

The Russian orthodox church is the state religion and they are building back communism better with building the "national family" ....... nationalism. Religion is the vehicle to build a strong family and family values.  (Hitler also built the family through nationalism). The philosopher in Russia whom all are following is Alexander Dugan. A staunch proponent of the Russian orthodox.church.  Any foreign religious entity will now have a target on it's back.
Russia is the King of North - with its allies. While China is threatening peace in the far east with the  possibility of invading Taiwan...... and strutting its strength all over the area, Russia is showing its muscles in the Balkans and Black Sea area.  Instead of "peace" it has taken a little "piece " of land here and there..... just like Germany did some 80 years back.
Regarding NATO, Russia is issuing regular warnings..... I suspect that problems could erupt in the Balkans because Russia is supporting the aggressive stance of Russian orthodox countries.
Humans do not learn from history....... most don't learn from biblical history either. ...

Interesting data on the number of members. Scientology originated later, much later than WTJWorg. And it has the same number of members.., even though they don’t preach the JW way.

    https://www.theoaklandpress.com/2021/10/25/russia-declares-groups-linked-to-church-of-scientology-as-undesirable/
Russia has designated two California-based organizations linked to the Church of Scientology as “undesirable,” a move that could formally ban the group.
The Prosecutor General’s Office in September said the World Institute of Scientology Enterprises International and the Church of Spiritual Technology “pose a threat to the security of the Russian Federation.”
The issue will now be taken up by the Ministry of Justice, which, according to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, could outlaw the groups under laws governing “undesirable” foreign nongovernmental organizations.
Russian authorities in recent years have gone after the Church of Scientology, ordering the closure of the group’s Moscow branch, according to news reports. The Justice Ministry has also declared some of the group’s literature extremist, Reuters reported.
The government has barred more than 30 groups under a 2015 law that made membership in “undesirable” organizations a criminal offense, the Associated Press reported. In 2017, Russia ruled the religious group Jehovah’s Witnesses as “extremist” and has since sentenced 14 adherents to six or more years of prison.

Scientology was established in 1952 by L. Ron Hubbard, a science fiction author, and the Church of Scientology has been acknowledged as a religion in the United States since 1993. Scientology is known for its celebrity followers, such as actors Tom Cruise and John Travolta.
The church has claimed it has 8 million members worldwide, with about a third of those in the U.S., but many critics have suggested there are between 25,000 and 55,000 active Scientologists.

Patiently waiting for Truth got a reaction from Kick_Faceinator in Sexual Abuse Lawsuit Filed Against Pierce County Jehovah's Witnesses Congregation
    https://www.chronline.com/stories/sexual-abuse-lawsuit-filed-against-pierce-county-jehovahs-witnesses-congregation,275875
A survivor of childhood sexual abuse by a member of a Jehovah's Witnesses congregation in Pierce County recently sued the organization.
Moriah Hughes, 24, filed her lawsuit last month in Pierce County Superior Court against the Milton Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
It says her abuser was a "baptized publisher," that he used his position to perpetrate the abuse, and that the church had information about similar allegations made against him by another congregation. He was later charged and sentenced in King County Superior Court for abusing Hughes and another girl.
"... the Milton Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses knew or should have known that he posed a threat of foreseeable harm to Moriah Hughes, but it failed to take reasonable steps to protect Moriah Hughes from that harm," the lawsuit said.
It also names other organizations as part of the church's hierarchy: the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses.
"I wanted to bring awareness to the fact that this is a reality," Hughes told The News Tribune last week. "And even though it is a heartbreaking reality in the organization, we will never be able to ensure this type of thing doesn't happen again and to other people unless we bring that awareness forward."
Elihu Rodriguez abused Hughes from 2012 to 2014 when he was an adult and she was between the ages of 14 and 16.
"Rodriguez abused plaintiff on multiple occasions, including during and after church events such as field service, Bible study and congregation social gatherings," the lawsuit said. "Before Rodriguez abused plaintiff, defendant congregation received a letter from another congregation indicating that he had engaged in similar sexually abusive acts with four girls at that congregation prior to coming to defendant congregation."
This is of much more concern than ill treating a dog. Unless you are a JW of course.

I would consider that animal cruelty.... however... remember that the cheeseburger I just ate was from a cow that was just minding his own business and chewing his cud not even a few days ago.
Korea and other countries actually have dog markets where dog is a delicacy.
As the world gets poorer, more desperate and hungry I think we shall see a lot more of this.

Sigh….though it has nothing to do with anything in the thread, out of left field comes this gem from PSomH:
“Neither the search nor the investigation produced any evidence that the Belgian Jehovah’s Witnesses had ever protected members accused of sexual abuse of minors by not reporting them to the police in violation of the Belgian rule of mandatory reporting.
“….The Court of Brussels has now concluded that “there is no evidence” that the Jehovah’s Witnesses in Belgium violated the reporting obligation... Scholars of new religious movements have repeatedly warned that accusations by disgruntled former members should of course be examined, but cannot be considered like established facts, and their attitudes and motivations should also be considered.”

Way back in school days we used to make up fake Greek & Latin names for things, just to kill time (i.e., chronocide)
scrambled eggs = poultrus cluckus abortus Evidently, Monty Python had some fun with the same idea in "Life of Brian."
