You are a VERY CONFUSED person, Walter.
May I call you Walter? Or would you prefer Wally?
I have never talked about banning anyone. I am a “free speech absolutist”, like Elon Musk …. but with a lot less money.
Speaking of money, dinero, dollars, moolah, sheckles, etc., I appreciate very confused people.
Can I interest you in a ten pound box of Pudgycoin?
Remember, it’s “the digital currency backed by hosed-down cardboard!”

Inspired by other current events (like Anne's designation of me as "prophet" 🤣) I decided to jump out of a fishing boat and walk on water. The water was so shallow that I couldn't decide whether to "row versus wade."

Those who say “…Such things could never happen in America …”, perhaps forget that recently we were fined outrageous amounts of money for NOT buying Government health insurance.

Things have changed "in an instant".  BLM.  It was an adjustment to understand that everyone else now knows this term as "Black Lives Matter".  That's perfectly fine with me.  But I still see those letters as representing public land that I can hike on.  I suppose now I am a target to be prosecuted.

And because he said this, you can erase Jesus' words in John 4 as well.
Then why do you appear to agree with what was said in the show?
@Anna - The journalist whose story this is, overhears Doug Coe, one of the leaders of the Family, saying to another member that "putting labels on religions such as "Muslim", "Christian" gets in the way of your prayers to Jesus .....organized religion detracts from Jesus...we've got to take Jesus out of the religious wrapping". This is IT! It's not that religion per say will be destroyed, but organized religion will be. One of the episodes is called One World Order. Arauna would be proud of me.
And is the Holy Spirit behind this visible force?  Is it behind any other religious organization's productivity?  Is the Wt. better than any other?  Yes, it functions on a sterile level of organization, and not on love for truth. You, of all JWs here, know this.   What good is it, to produce magazines full of teachings that could change in a few months?  And people are disfellowshipped for rejecting doctrine that ends up being changed.
Beware of "organization.” It is wholly unnecessary. The Bible rules will be the only rules you will need. Do not seek to bind others' consciences, and do not permit others to bind yours. Believe and obey so far as you understand God’s Word today, and so continue growing in grace and knowledge and love day by day. (The Watchtower, September 15, 1895)

Remember, there was a time when Rutherford hated even the term "religion" because by it he meant "organized" religion. It wasn't until Covington started arguing with him that they needed to use the term religion in order to get legal recognition in other countries that he softened a bit. In the booklet that Covington wrote, even as late as 1950, he had to explain to other Witnesses why it was going to be OK to use the term religion. Reminds me a bit of how L. Ron Hubbard also distanced himself from religion until his lawyers realized the tax trouble they were in. They even put a cross like symbol on their buildings now. Hubbard would be rolling over on his planet.
But, of course, Rutherford made us more organized than ever from a hierarchical top-down perspective. Can't hardly see how we'd function without such a high level of organization, with so many millions of us, so much coordinated activity, so many publications, so many updates (even new songs before the next songbook is printed), etc.

I can't see it either. In fact I would think it was impossible to accomplish any mission without organization. Even those who say they are not organized actually are. It's "organized religion" that is a dirty word for some, and probably not for the word "organized"  but for the word "religion" associated with it. "Organized religion" has given itself such a bad name. I am curious to see how the documentary develops (only seen the first episode) since their aim is to accomplish something without organization....

That's what Doug Coe in the documentary was insinuating. He also compared Jesus to Lenin, Hitler and Bin Laden, as examples of leaders who change the world through the strength of the covenants they had forged with their 'brothers'.

I don't think I would want to agree with any of his sentiments .

I was a bit surprised that JWI posted his "experiment" in the open forum because here they are already convinced of what the experiment "proved".  Plus anything here just gets mashed up by the likes of Allen Smith and his multiple personalities, or Witness whose only interest is to turn every scripture anti GB regardless of the topic, or patiently sitting on his hands who sees a conspiracy in all that the GB do and say.....

To paraphrase from the first issue of the Watchtower the words of Charles Taze Russell, “if Satan himself tells you the truth, it’s still the truth.“
Which presumes if I trusted angel of light tells you a lie, it’s still a lie.
And a lot of mature wisdom is merely evidence of being too tired.

And brilliant humor is wasted on the willfully stupid who can be identified easily as they only take offense at being confused.
If there is any question about that, reread paragraph three.

I thought as much after I deliberated over it for a few days.
It was an interesting experiment. It made me realize that rather than the actual content, which I merely skimmed over like Tom, I was more concerned with the reputation or status of the person who wrote it. This was interesting because I see this mentality today. It's not only that we want to protect our belief system, but it goes deeper than that.  It highlighted that many times it's not what is said but who says it. Perhaps this explains why some of us embrace some beliefs which we don't really understand fully, (or cannot explain ourselves) without bothering to really understand them because ... ahem.....because we trust those who put forward these explanations. If 1914 had been explained by an Indian Guru, I doubt anyone of JWs would be interested. Or perhaps it would be adopted, but its origins would be buried, just like John Aquila Brown and others who made 1914 calculations.
So I hesitated, (although my instinct told me otherwise) because I know you like to dig deep but of late you also try not to stir the pot. My instincts told me you are trying to illustrate a point. The point that if we try hard enough, we can pick a few scriptures and make them fit something that we want support for. And if you have already built a certain reputation, especially trustworthiness, it will most likely convince others too. That just seems to be the rule as you say with people in general.
Tom was more on the ball, being suspicious that you would make a 180 turn. And Pudgy the old dog realist heard a ring of the "cat thesis" (which I did too actually, and I do know you have a wicked sense of humour).
My hubby and me have finished the one docu series and now we have started another Netflix one called the Family, this time about a Christian group (you've probably seen that too). It's amazing what people are capable of doing and believing. Of course when watching these documentaries I always compare our belief system, not so much the content but more the way we apply it, and thankfully, I always see how superior our application is to even so called Christians.
One thing that struck me and gave me an idea, although this is off topic here but I don't think it matters now because we have all veered off since your "experiment" is over.  Anyway, most will know that I am skeptical about Governments turning on religion, especially in the United States where it plays such an integral part of society and the constitution. Something that was said in the Family made me think of another angle. The journalist whose story this is, overhears Doug Coe, one of the leaders of the Family, saying to another member that "putting labels on religions such as "Muslim", "Christian" gets in the way of your prayers to Jesus .....organized religion detracts from Jesus...we've got to take Jesus out of the religious wrapping". Wrong again. These days, at the urging my wife. I have become a dishwasher repairman. In fact, I am busy as a beaver (very clever animals, all of them graduates of Dam U.) reworking the Beatles’ Paperback Writer into something more personal:
    ’It’s a steady job but he’ll be a dishwasherrepairman…..
    DISHWASHERREPAIRMANNNNNNN.”
Did you know if the fill pump goes you might as well buy a new unit, since even with self-install you’ll pay over 40% of a spanking brand new machine that doesn’t require you to start and wait 12 minutes to add the soap in because the automatic dispenser doesn’t work and now you are vindicated in not fixing it like your wife wanted you to because if you had it would all be for naught?

Pudgy got a reaction from Mic Drop in “The explosion of this thermonuclear torpedo by Britain’s coastline will cause a gigantic tsunami wave. Having passed over the British Isles, it will turn whatever might be left of them into a radioactive wasteland”
Physically impossible …. A tsunami means the ocean floor has changed elevation. Even a 200 megaton H-Bomb pales in significance to an earthquake sufficient to make a wave 1/4 of a mile tall. An H-Bomb explosion is point source radial from the center of a sphere, and in an underwater explosion creates mostly steam, and the force of the explosion is mostly up, and the remaining horizontal force is divided into 360 degrees, and a coastline is perhaps 45 degrees of that.
In time of war, the first casualty, is truth.

It is not a terrible idea. It was me who caused him to erupt, it was easily foreseeable (did I even do it for that reason?),and I have reverted to the same treatment I did for Dmitar in order to forestall additional temptation—but it is my own fault.
To be sure, it takes almost nothing, but it was me who poked with feigned surprise that the ‘new guy’ doesn’t like JWI and who ever could have seen that coming?
My own fault. If I had any sense I’d be repenting in sackcloth and ashes. But I don’t. But I do enough to ‘make my foot rare’ in the house of paranoia.
    Yeah, sure. So says you.
