Pudgy reacted to JW Insider in Physical attendance at meetings/assemblies and "Zoom" attendance
Me too. As I see my parents getting older, I see that the Zoom meetings work for them better than the telephone connection which they have used on occasion in the past.
We used to have a KH in the suburb where I live and we consolidated with another KH two towns north of here. No travel problems because it's only an extra 3 miles, and we traveled more than a mile as it was. But the decision included two factors. We could sell our local Hall for more money and use it to upgrade the other Hall, which is now central to 5 congregations (although it hasn't been used for months). The other reason for the decision is that the "new" Hall provides better "advertising" on a highly traveled street. The old Hall was nicer looking, but out of the way.
I think this is an important factor. I've mentioned before that a local "evangelical" church that bought an old synagogue nearby has turned it into something like a mega-church that draws literally three hundred cars twice on Saturday and twice on Sunday, which has started up again these last two months bigger than when they stopped last year for Covid-19. I don't know if these are different services for the same "congregation" or for multiple "congregations" but I'm guessing the latter. It also serves as a large food and charity distribution center since Covid-19. This provides them with a lot of easy "advertising" and I bet that's a reason for part of their growth.
Giving up the KH would be nearly impossible to imagine, and as it is, I think an entire community of two or three suburban towns would wonder what happened to us if that Hall disappeared.

Without going into details - we live in the X-generation at present. But this generation also comprises Baby boomers and Millennials.... so is that not overlapping?

Pudgy reacted to The Librarian in Did the Pre-flood air have 50% more oxygen in it?
What do you think of this statement?
"Hyper-oxygenated air; the world was like a hyperbaric chamber, everything lived longer because of the air quality. We know this because we have air samples from before the flood; extracted from bubbles trapped in fossilized sap (amber). Adam lived until he was 930. Noah was 600 when he built the Ark"
She is suggesting that we lived so much longer due to the heightened levels of oxygen available during the Pre-flood era.
Later it was said that this oxygen bound to hydrogen to create the oceans of water around us.

    Arauna:
As clearly stated in my previous post, I was addressing PwfT ….. NOT YOU!
Apparently it is not plain for all to see because you completely missed the point of what I was saying.
Translated into dog paw writing with crayons, the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses, with all their faults and foibles that we all have an over abundance of is most probably the faithful and discreet slave mentioned in the Bible.
In the absence of specific and clearly compelling contradicting competition proving otherwise that would be my best guess.
Further, my previous posting challenged PwfT, NOT YOU, to present evidence that whoever they were claiming is the faithful and discreet slave does a better job and is more rightfully able to claim it.
So far, much has been alluded to…. completely devoid of sustainable facts.
Please re-read what  I wrote in context with this explanation in mind.
Big ugly bags of mostly water is what humans are, some bigger and uglier than others.
When you don’t have fur, it’s a tough gig.

……. and when you continuously accuse others of OCD, the words of Shakespeare come to mind …. “ … methinks she doth protest too much.”

Probably the most beautiful religious song ever composed was not written by someone on the WTB&TS staff .... it was written by a Captain of a slaver ship hauling slaves from Africa to the United States, and after many extremely profitable trips what he saw finally got to him, and he repented, and took the slaves in the hold of his ship and returned them to Africa ( where they were for the most part re-captured and made slaves once again by the black indigenous slavers who originally captured them and brought them to the coast to be sold, or were caught up in the many tribal civil wars of the days ....).
He then went to England and became an Anglican  minister and composed "Amazing Grace", regretting the many atrocities he had caused, and the lives he had destroyed, the entire rest of his life ..... attributing the forgiveness of God to the value of Christ's sacrifice.
Although he did not understand enough to realize who Jehovah and Christ Jesus really were, he came to understand the principles they stood for, but the previous collateral damage was immense and horrendous.
I cannot believe that Jehovah God, and his Christ will not give him full credit, or if not full credit, at lease "a passing grade" when his life is examined.
Just like at the Division of Motor Vehicles, when you get tested for a Driver's License, you do not have to make 100% on the test.
Just one point above failing the test, and you still get a drivers license.

After reading most of the missives, above, I strongly suspect that on Judgment Day, whenever that might be, individually or en masse, there are going to be a LOT of surprised people, both inside and outside of the "Truth"
Meanwhile, down here, where the rubber meets the road, I also strongly suspect that our best chance for temporary happiness is to get one or more puppies.
..... good for about 12 to 18 years each .... and there is ALWAYS a plentiful supply!

Not only did that never happen, the clams of China's atrocities against Falun Gong members was irrefutably debunked.
Although I believe what I just said, I just gave an example of the kind of thing that just wastes time in a discussion forum:
I answered the same way that a lot of people would answer, but it can just go back and forth like this unless someone is willing to point to research and/or evidence, and not just unsubstantiated claims and opinions. It must have also been about 20 years ago when I saw the Falun Gong protests in the streets of NYC during the years I worked in Manhattan, and I was fooled for quite some time by their sincere-sounding cries, and all the posters with "photographic" evidence. It didn't take long to discover that the photographic evidence was just from actors "re-enacting" claims. But I'm made doubly suspicious by watching who helps them fund-raise over this issue, and the way they have been caught "red-handed" lying about and denying their direct association with various culture performances, newspapers, Cable TV stations, along with YouTube and Twitter and Facebook spokespersons.
What I just did in that last paragraph is a bit better, but it is still just counter-claims (albeit, more specific) with no real evidence for my own view. At least someone who might be interested can now say, for example: "Hey wait a second, give me one of those examples of FG members lying about their association with FG."

“Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle-field of that war. We have come to ….um….yes, Patiently Sitting on my Hands, what is it?”

Because they’ve had 100 years to refine. Others weren’t doing much of anything back then beyond running the trinitarian/hellfire route.

YOU are not really worthy to answer because you are not interested in reasonable speech...you are a true hate- mongerer.  Believe what you like.... any reasonable answer will not suffice. You are here to create contention and controversy. ..... another hate-OCD case..... they always attack GB and some "historical" things which do not matter in the present time. ...... if David committed adultery under your watch he would never be forgiven and his sin dragged up all the time to dishonour him...... that is the kind of hateful spirit you eminate! It is not one of inquiry....... it comes from another motive - that of your " true father."

The AKC sent me a MasterCard with my picture on it, and I thought since my Guardian is interested in such things, I would get him the latest MS flight simulator, yoke, throttles, pedals, and Oculus Headset, etc.
I think the last VideoGame he played was “Duck Hunt” circa 1970s, (?) on a Vic 20, and that was because he liked to see my Mom laugh at him when he missed.

Pudgy reacted to Srecko Sostar in Millions Now Living Will Never Die! by J.F. Rutherford ??????????? A few questions.
The historical context is interesting because it confirms today’s perception of the past historical context. And that is: They expected Armageddon and the establishment of an earthly Paradise during their lifetime.  After the failure of hope, they started a dogma with heavenly life for the chosen earthlings (variations on this theme exist in JW literature)
Today’s WTJWorg context has refuted all of this as outdated and misconceptions. JW Hope has new models of belief and beliefs, today.
Then we have the Context of Present Time, which confirms that both the WTJWorg contexts, the one from the time of Rutherford and the one from the time of present (the year 2021) WTJWorg Administration, are revealed by failed and inaccurate expectations, beliefs and interpretations, aka dogmas.
JW Hope has new models of belief and teachings, which will be the reason for discussions in this or some other Forum in the future.
What Rutherford thought then, and what we think he thought then are two things. Whatever he thought can be assumed on the basis of books and magazines from that time. So, let me agree with the question from the title of this topic.
