But by writing that you are saying that Russell was not inspired by God's Holy Spirit. Nor was he guided by it. 
You are basically saying that Russell 'jumped on the bandwagon' with the many Christian denominations. 
Being wrong as an individual is one thing, but putting it in print to 'guide' the people toward God is surely wrong.  
Part of the world then. A long way from serving God properly. It's quite strange as I've always thought that Russell was very much an 'individual' and that he turned his back on most teachings of other Christian denominations.  But here it seems he followed the crowd. 

As I have mentioned on this forum before - during the 18th century there was a new craze in Europe regarding pyramids and papyri from Egypt.  many Christian denominations tried to see something prophetic in the pyramids. 
The founder of the Mormon religion bought a papyri and pretended it was a letter from Abraham when it was a portion of a Book of the Dead which came with a mummy.. He pretended to translate the papyrus and the 'Book of Abraham' was born. many people were fascinated and listened to him. it has now been proven to be a fabrication and yet many people still believe it.
Why?  because the science of Egyptology only opened up when Napoleon went to Egypt - so the craze for anything Egyptian was the craze of the age. It was the new science.  The Egyptian script was translated by Champollion.
So if you know this history - you will see all of the above history in its historical context.......... but alas!  there is a short-sightedness that no-one will be able to cure!

I would like to see the references to where he came to the screwball conclusion apparently someone heard a rumor. Where did that come from?
I don’t really know but I highly suspect if that statement and read was completely made up out of it out of absolutely nothing except agenda driven imagination. If anybody knows different, please correct me.

Matthew 18:15 states (In contemporary language ...) that a person has the right to face his accuser.
That principle is enshrined in the U.S, Constitution, as well.
The REAL principle is basic fairness.
Either your Judicial Process are fair ....
... or they are Star Chambers.

The whole judicial process of 3 men taking you in the back room in secret is unbiblical.
If after going to your brother or sister about their “problem” doesn’t work (Matthew 18:15), and after taking two others along and taking to them about said “problem” still doesn’t work (Matthew 18:16);
then the church is to be involved in the matter:
“If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.” Matthew 18:17.
Well, who is “the church”? 
The church the Body of Christ:

When was the last time an anointed was involved in a judicial matter? All these judicial matters are supposed to be brought before the anointed body of Christ before any decision is made.
Does this happen? No. Instead they get 3 men to judge you in secret. 
The only trial ever recorded in the Bible which was done in secret was the trial of Jesus Christ. 
“For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret.” Ephesians 5:12

It seems to me that everyone here is in at least one of several disparate camps of certainty about how to interpret scriptures about this subject, and that within each of these camps there are serious questions about whether certain "facts" align, support or contradict other ....  "facts" about the main conclusions in each camp.
It sprains my small canine brain to try and make sense of it all ... it's like the SNL sketch "Dueling Banjos Brandos", but in this case it's "Dueling Scriptures".
My guess is that whatever is going to happen .... if I have full and complete knowledge, or are completely and totally ignorant, it will be all the same .... there is NOTHING I, or we,  can do about ANY of it.
I do not have to have a Doctorate in Mechanical and Automotive Engineering to try and not be run over by a car.
....distractions will get you killed.

Not JW related, but related to abuse and death of many children it would seem.  Hopefully all of those children will rise again in the Resurrection once this Earth has been made clean.

How something is worded often contains subtle nuances and references, and sub-references that escape almost everyone, except those whose thinking is not agenda driven.
The problem is .... almost EVERYONES' thinking is agenda driven.
Without getting into George Carlin's famous comment about sticking a needle in your finger, consider the very real difference between these two phrases, being  "waiting to engage", and being "engaged to wait".
If you work for someone, and are on call 24/7/365. make sure that the phraseology is "engaged to wait", and not "waiting to engage".
It makes a difference as to whether or not you are due payment for your services.
In similar fashion, the nuances inherent in the way Scripture is phrased make a very real difference.
However, if your perception is agenda driven, you will always be wrong.
If you think you are a hammer ..... EVERYTHING looks like a nail.
..... and your theology and carpentry work will be crude, ugly, and unworkable.

I have no idea how the Society can claim "copyright infringement", as I have seen all the "DubTown"  animated videos on YouTube, and it is clear to me that it is blistering satire .....  which is considered "fair use" by the U.S. Copyright laws.
And furthermore, what are they going to do when they find out who the REAL "Dubtown" author is?
If I was them, I would drop it, otherwise it may be like the auto maker Henry Ford had to suffer when he sued a newspaper for libel, for calling him an ignorant dolt ( or words to that effect ...), and when they got to Court it was proven that he WAS, and the case was dismissed.
The perfect defense for slander and libel accusations is if you are telling the TRUTH.
That's what I saw, with cringing consternation, when I saw the "Dubtown" Videos.

The notion of the Firstfruits (Chosen Ones, Anointed Ones) is 100% core to legitimate Anti-Trinitarians, this includes the Jehovah's Witnesses too. Not to mention that Firstfruits are the type of Christians who have no singular status, i.e. race, background, sex, etc. Liken to the early apostolic church formed that day, granted, Spiritual Israel and it's role in The Messianic Kingdom extended past Jews, thus the conversion of Samaritans, Gentiles, etc.
Guess Simon of Cyrene didn't get the memo. They picked him out of the crowd, putting the spotlight on him and he had no practice.

A simple translation error, even a punctuation can shift a faith and or create another brief outside of core Christianity. Which leads to my issue with Trinirarians, and as of now these people who came out of the pandemic referring to themselves as God's Warriors otherwise known as Jehovah's/Yahweh's Warriors who are KJV-Onlyist who are broadline Black Israelites.
That being said, it is an endless game of chess until The End Time Tribulations truly kicks off.
