Dmitar reacted to Matthew9969 in The 144k and the GB...gnostics?
    Could they be considered gnostics?
*** w05 1/15 p. 15 par. 21 Christ—The Focus of Prophecy ***Only his faithful anointed disciples would discern his royal presence. In the next article, we will see how that insight would have a profound effect on them, culminating in the gathering of millions who would become Jesus’ earthly subjects

*** ip-2 chap. 15 p. 228 par. 23 The Barren Woman Rejoices ***23 Verse 13 of Isaiah chapter 54 provides the key—all will be “taught by Jehovah.” Jesus himself applied the words of this verse to his anointed followers. (John 6:45) The prophet Daniel foretold that during this “time of the end,” the anointed would be blessed with an abundance of true knowledge and spiritual insight. (Daniel 12:3, 4) Such insight has enabled them to spearhead the greatest educational campaign in history, spreading divine teaching in all the earth. (Matthew 24:14) At the same time, such insight has helped them to see the difference between true religion and false. Isaiah 54:12 mentions “boundaries of delightsome stones.” Since 1919, Jehovah has given the anointed an ever clearer understanding of the boundaries—the lines of spiritual demarcation—setting them apart from false religion and ungodly elements of the world. (Ezekiel 44:23; John 17:14; James 1:27) They are thus set apart as God’s own people.

*** w00 5/15 p. 11 par. 6 Pay Attention to God’s Prophetic Word for Our Day ***6 In this time of the end, many faithful Christians have ‘roved about’ in the pages of God’s Word, the Bible. The result? With Jehovah’s blessing on their efforts, true knowledge has become abundant. For instance, anointed Witnesses of Jehovah have been blessed with insight, enabling them to understand that Jesus Christ became heavenly King in the year 1914.

*** km 3/00 p. 8 par. 4 Studying Daniel’s Prophecy ***4 Prepare well for the study each week, and enjoy participating in it. Appreciate your privilege of associating with Jehovah’s visible organization and benefiting from the insight and understanding provided by his faithful anointed ones.

*** dp chap. 17 p. 292 par. 11 Identifying True Worshipers in the Time of the End ***: “The ones having insight will shine like the brightness of the expanse; and those who are bringing the many to righteousness, like the stars to time indefinite, even forever.” Who are “the ones having insight” today? Again, the evidence points to the same “holy ones of the Supreme One.” After all, who but the faithful anointed remnant had the insight to discern that Michael, the Great Prince, began standing as King in 1914?

*** dp chap. 18 p. 309 par. 7 Jehovah Promises Daniel a Wonderful Reward ***In our own day, the anointed have been blessed with spiritual insight, shining as beacons of truth in this bedarkened world.

*** w98 2/15 p. 19 par. 7 Glorious Freedom Soon for the Children of God ***Meanwhile, God granted his anointed servants, born-again Christians, noteworthy insight.

*** w87 7/1 p. 23 par. 10 Divine Blessings for “the Ones Having Insight” *** “The ones having insight” are clearly the faithful remaining members of the anointed Christian congregation, who are ‘filled with accurate knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual comprehension.

*** w81 3/1 p. 26 Do You Appreciate the “Faithful and Discreet Slave”? ***This indicates that the congregation of Christ’s anointed disciples, those having insight, would be watching for the Master’s return and be found faithfully providing spiritual food at the proper time when he returned.

*** w70 11/15 p. 690 par. 22 The Need to Know What We Worship ***The anointed remnant of “people who are knowing their God” have been the ones that have prevailed, and this due to having insight.

*** w60 2/1 p. 90 par. 37 Part 31—“Your Will Be Done on Earth” ***They act with insight and keep walking in their integrity or blamelessness toward God. Realizing their being anointed with Jehovah’s spirit to preach, they do preach, that they may “impart understanding to many.”

    Ye of little faith.
You miss the whole point of HOLY SPIRIT being poured out onto the TRUE ANOINTED ones.
You, and others, seem to think that God and Christ do not realise the seriousness of the 'times' or that they don't care. You and others only seem to think in a 'physical' way.
Your comment in fact, says, God cannot be served properly. Or is it that you cannot serve God properly ?
It would seem sensible to me that God, through Christ, would prove in some way, who is the Spiritual JEW that us 'little dogs' should 'go with'.
The GB / Watchtower / JW org has proven that they cannot be trusted in many ways. Do you honestly think God and Christ will allow that to continue. To allow millions of people to be stumbled at this time when we are moving closer to the Judgement Day.
When Christ uses his authority to change things here on Earth, those in the Org will be in for a very big shock.

I've made my viewpoint very clear before.  I am 'Patiently waiting for Truth'.  Tom finds this very funny.
Yes I could easily still be a JW. I could have just lingered in the background. I could have pretended that CSA was a lie.
I could have pretended that all the false predictons didn't happen.  In other words i could have been a coward.
Why would I want to support / contribute to / preach on behalf of, an immoral, dishonest, self-centered group of 8 men, who pretend to be the F&DS' ?
I am waiting for God, through Christ, to 'awaken' spiritually, the true Anointed remnant. When that happens, I don't know if it will be by cleaning out the W/t - JW Org, or, by forming a new association. I believe that there are true Anointed ones in many countries around the Earth.  I think that a 'new association' guided by 'Anointed Servants' could be organised globally. It does not need all of them in one place.
I did have a thought that just as John the Baptiser made the way clear before Jesus came, then maybe JW Org has made the way clear before the True Anointed appear.
Remember too that the Watchtower was around before the JW Org was formed, and most of those
were known long before the JW Org was formed.  Although Russell wasn't a JW, he did most of the ground work.
But I haven't stopped having Bible discussions and will talk to anyone that will discuss it sensibly.  I also try my best to encourage my family to think about 'spiritual things'.  In online discussions about world events I will try to introduce Bible prophecy. What i don't do is pretend i know the when and how of God's plans.
So back to your question as to, What would i do ?
I would and do accept that I am NOT Anointed, therefore I do not expect God or Christ to work through me.
Therefore I pray, read my BSB Bible, and i wait to find out who the 'Spiritual JEW'  are.
Sometimes we just have to have patience and wait on God through Christ.
The alternative of course is to try to 'run on ahead' without spiritual guidance, and we have seen the bad results clearly in the Watchtower / JW Org.

Dmitar got a reaction from JW Insider in The Last Days that began in 1914 are now coming to their End...
There is a parallel with the Bible Student history chart that is relevant for this discussion that does not align with some opinions here as well.
Two of the listed association renounced it’s fellowship with the Bible Student Association in 1909. The Free Bible Students. That association formed the New Covenant Believers, Christian Millennial fellowship, Free Bible Student Association.
Paul S. L. Johnson was skeptical about Russell’s teaching since 1905 and subsequently lead the Free Bible Students to depart from Russell’s teaching in 1909 as depicted in the chart. This error and lie is not noted in the Bible Student history with that point of departure, since “Henninges” wrote to Russell trying to persuade him to change certain views and when Russell refused, Henninges and the Melbourne congregation left to form their own movement which was called “ the New Covenant Fellowship” in 1909 that is not mentioned in that chart?
That chart doesn’t include how, pilgrim M.L. McPhail and A. E. Williamson from the Chicago Bible Students actually formed the “New Covenant Believers” in 1908 and started their own publication The Kingdom Scribe?
These groups are not mentioned in that chart since it try’s to depict in a simplified manner the major known groups of all the “independent” Bible Students. Keep in mind, Russell didn’t agree with many of the understandings independent congregations were offering as insight. Some of that insight included Millerism, which Russell did not accept nor support.
I just thought this correction should be included here. Not everything written in WIKI should be considered factual.

Somewhere around 50 years ago there was a television program on called “Slattery’s People”, starring Richard Crenna as a congressman who went around helping his constituents.

As the program opened the camera zoomed in on the two keyed desk receptacles a congressman uses to vote with, while a very distinguished voice intoned  “Democracy is a very bad form of government …… But all the others are so much worse.“
I think one of the reasons that I remember that so emphatically is that is the way I view Jehovah’s Witnesses in modern times, merely because we govern with heavily flawed human beings.
You are never going to get justice. You are never going to get equity. You’re never going to get fairness. You are never going to get reasonableness.
You are never going to get justice. You are never going to get equity. You’re never going to get fairness. You are never going to get reasonableness.
Until Christ’s Kingdom Is fully in place and is being administered by perfect people, angels or whatever they’re going to use.
I suspect that 700 years into the thousand year reign of Christ there will still be people in authority that have many of the failings and foibles that plague us today, and the survivors will still be bitching and moaning that life is just not fair.….. And they will be correct.
……. and they will be correct.
    Get used to it.
Basically we are just big ugly bags of mostly water, trying to be something we’re not, and failing in some way, or most ways.
With all the colossal persistent and never ending screw-ups, arrogances and missteps that the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society engages in daily remember this, in reality, and for now…… And I cringe as I write this…… they are the best bet the human race has.
……. as the people of Poland discovered when invaded by the Nazis, you don’t fight a war with the army you want…… You fight a war with the army you have.

This question that you asked, hit the core. WTJWorg with GB leadership has been supporting its own chronology of past and future events for decades. Certainly, most of the effort was invested in proving that "Armageddon is at the very door" and that it will happen in a certain period of time. Sometimes this included a precisely expressed year, sometimes a short period bounded by the lifespan of a “generation” or the end of a century (e.g., the 20th century).
Indeed, should one have faith and confidence in the “spiritual food” that comes from GB forecasters?

"JEHOVAH GOD is the Grand Identifier of his true messengers. He identifies them by making the messages he delivers through them come true. Jehovah is also the Great Exposer of false messengers. How does he expose them? He frustrates their signs and predictions. In this way he shows that they are self-appointed prognosticators, whose messages really spring from their own false reasoning—yes, their foolish, fleshly thinking!"w97 5/1 p. 8
I found this wt. quote after answering a JW on reddit with this comment.  For any JW passing through here...
Do you remember the cover of the 5/15/1984 Awake magazine? If not, you can look up its image on Google. Do you think that God knew that this was a lie before time showed that your leaders failed in their prediction? The world calls people that do this, false "prognosticators”. I think even your writers have used this term in references to false prophets.
Yes, God was aware it would fail. In light of all the dates set by your organization for Armageddon, did God know each one would fail? Yes, of course. Did He say, “well even though these leaders have misled thousands with their promises that didn’t hold true, and even though they took their message of error to people’s homes world-wide, misleading them with a teaching that will certainly prove to be false, I will bless them with abundance of spiritual food!”
Really? Show me where in the scriptures God approves of falsehoods – false teachings. These are only the blatant untruths, made by your leadership. The list is very long.
God is looking for people to come out of your organization where darkness and rotten fruit is found. (Matt 7:15-20; John 3:19,20) He wouldn't demand that people remain where He knew Christ's teachings were abandoned for men's doctrine. You've got it all wrong, sir.
“I will use my power against the prophets who see false visions and predict things that don’t come true. They will not help my people make decisions or be recorded in the records of the nation of Israel. They won’t even enter Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord.” Ezek 13:9 (GW)
Then the Lord told me, “These are the lies that the prophets are telling in my name: They claim that I sent them, commanded them, and spoke to them. They dreamed up the visions they tell you. Their predictions are worthless. They are the products of their own imagination.” Jer 14:14
This is what the Lord of Armies says:
“Don’t listen to what the prophets are saying to you.
They fill you with false hope. (like the people had, on the cover of the Awake)
They speak about visions that they dreamed up.
These visions are not from the Lord.” Jer 23:16
“A time will come when people will not listen to accurate teachings. Instead, they will follow their own desires and surround themselves with teachers who tell them what they want to hear. People will refuse to listen to the truth and turn to myths.” 1 Tim 4:3,4

So tell me, where is it said that God has turned a blind eye to false, failed teachings by your GB, and expects you to do the same? (Rev 18:4-8)

Dmitar reacted to Witness in THE GOVERNING BODY'S "INSIGHT" COMPELS TRUST
This post is an extension of another comment just recently made here.
“I will give you insight and instruct you in the way you should go”  Ps 32:8a (NWT)
This scripture was used by G. Losch, when speaking to JWs about having trust in the “faithful and discreet slave”. (Matt 24:45)  His talk began with these words:
“1 Cor 13:7 says, that love ‘believes all things’.  Trusting others is an expression of love.  If you love somebody you only assume and think the best of him.”
With that, he laid the groundwork to convince JWs that their love for the governing leadership, should motivate belief and trust in what they teach. (Prov 5:1-4; 21:6; 2 Tim 4:3,4)
He pointed out that the leaders have complete trust in God who is guiding them with the Holy Spirit; and in return, God and Jesus trust them to provide “precious” spiritual food. (Prov 23:1-3; John 8:44)
He stated that JWs can take confidence in the insight given to these men, and their understanding and guidance using God’s word. (Prov 28:26; Matt 7:15-20; 1 Cor 13:4)
The point was made clear that these men will be “taken to heaven” before the organization’s version of Armageddon breaks out; and with confidence, Jesus will then entrust all his belongings to them. (Psalm 12:3;Isa 44:20; Matt 25:24-30)
This talk was presented in 2015. In 2020, D. Splane carefully crafted a speech that absolved them from a long-held false teaching about the identity of the locusts in the book of Joel. (Joel 1:4)  Their past “understanding” (falsehood) was that God’s anointed were the locust army, causing devastation through their preaching work.  They were responsible for destruction on the “land,” which was said to signify the people under the rule of religious leaders. However, Joel 1:6,13 specifically points out that it is God’s “land” that is under attack – His people under covenant, who have transgressed his laws.  (Ezek 38:16; Joel 2:3; Rev 9:3,4; Rev 13:5-7; 20:7-9)
Apparently, they deduced that this past teaching was not so insightful or precious anymore. (Prov 26:12)  The leaders had decided it was time to consider the prophesy “in its context”. (Prov 21:8)
These men personally project their image as “faithful and discreet” (discreet meaning “wise, trusted, sensible”), and state they are approved by God before Jesus Christ returns.  (Matt 24:46,47; 25:21) (Ps 94:4; Isa 2:17,18; Matt 24:48-51)
They say that this “faithful and discreet slave” has been gifted with insight from God, since 1919. (Prov 25:14; Jer 29:8,9; 7:8)
Well, their historical record of consistent failed teachings does not look so insightful; and certainly not precious, since they purge their publications on a regular basis. (Eccl 12:12-14; Luke 16:2) It wasn’t God who was guiding and instructing them ‘in the way they should go’, when writing these now discarded books. It was their own boastful and fleshly motives that inspired their false teachings. (Rom 1:30-32; 2 Tim 3:1-5)  Jesus said that those who remain attached to him, to the “vine”, would produce teachings or “fruit” that would last. (John 15:4-6)
I think many will agree that it would have been a wise and sensible move, to have read the entire book of Joel "in its context", before assuming that this army was God's holy people, and proceed to teach it wrongly…for years. (Prov 28:11)
The locust-scorpions in Revelation are also wrongly taught as God’s anointed ones. Will this teaching change in time?  It’s hard to say. They’ve made a comparison, yet a flimsy one, to Joel’s locusts, saying that these plagues are “similar but different”.   You can see their chart here:
    https://www.theworldnewsmedia.org/topic/87091-shedding-light-on-the-army-of-locusts/?tab=comments#comment-144049“
Who are the Locusts” - https://4womaninthewilderness.blogspot.com/2020/03/who-are-locusts.html

Who then, comprise the army of locusts both in Joel and in Rev chapter 9 in our day?  Why do they come upon God’s people in the last days?  Well, consider the scenario just described. False teachers have captivated them with false promises and corrupt doctrine. (Mark 13:22; Acts 20:29,30; Titus 1:16)
This was prophesied to occur in the last days – a powerful delusion used by Satan to “sift” the remnant of the holy ones, “as wheat”. (Jer 5:31; Matt 24:24,25; Luke 22:31; Luke 21:24; Rev 2:10;; 2 Thess 2:9-12; 1 Tim 4:1; Col 2:8; Rev 13:10,7; Mal 3:18; Matt 25:33; Rev 12:7 )
He has ‘employed’ those who accept his gifts of power, authority and riches over the “kingdoms of the inhabited earth” to do his will; that is, to destroy the anointed under the “woman” new covenant, using deceit.  (Luke 4:5-8; Rev 16:13,14; 12:1,4,17)  (In Luke 4:5 , the meaning of “world”, is the "inhabited earth" - God’s land – Ps 132:7; Acts 7:49; 1 Cor 3:9,16; John 14:23)
To do this, he formulated a lie that led them into idolatry to men and their organization; willingly trusting and believing the false prophet/”harlot’s” teachings. (2 Thess 2:3,4; Rev 13:3,4,11,12) As God said, when His people fall into sin, He withdraws His protection.  It is always only a remnant that turns back to Him, seeking forgiveness and protection from the enemy. (Lev 26:1,3,4,9,14,17;40-42;Joel 2:12,13,17,18; Dan 12:1; Rom 9:27,28)
The anointed “Jews” are under the rule of a “Gentile” army. (Ezek 44:6-9; Rev 11:1,2) “Army” is the descriptive term used by the organization itself, in reference to the expansive world-wide elder body.  This army has been given power to judge and spiritually “kill” any who transgress their decrees. (John 16:2; Rev 13:15) It has effectively trampled down a spiritual nation into silence. (Zeph 3:3,4; Ezek 38:14,15;Joel 2:4,5;Rev 9:7; Dan 11:15,31,36; Matt 24:15,16; 2 Thess 2:3,4)
Now we can see why such great tribulation comes upon God's people (who are not yet sealed). They face an alliance (Dan.2:40-43) that is stronger than any foe they have ever faced in all history
    (Rev 12:17; 13:1,4,11,14,15; 11:7; 6:9,11) (Rev 16:13-16; 19:19-20).
Jesus said that if our time of unsealed captivity and trampling under them (Col 2:8; 2 Cor 11:20; Rev 2:20; Micah 3:5; Rev 13:10,7; 11:2; 9:4,10)  were not cut short, none would be saved (Matt 24:22; 7:13,14; Luke 13:23,24; 18:26,27).
“The Greatest Tribulation – What and Why?” - https://4womaninthewilderness.blogspot.com/2015/06/the-greatest-tribulation-why.html
The opening scripture in Psalm 32:8 continues by saying, “I will give you advice with my eye upon you”.  God sends his prophets to warn His people of the devastating outcome when they have fallen into sin and idolatry. (Zeph 3:7,8; Amos 3:7) He has always advised them to leave the teachings of false prophets/spiritual harlots, and to turn to Him in repentance.   Today, is no different.  (Hos 8:1; Mal 3:1-4; 4:5,6; Matt 17:11; Rev 11:1-3; 22:6).

It's not the same, of course, but there is one surprising group that related themselves in a curious way to the Bible Students/JWs in the 1930s. But they were also very highly divergent in most ways. It was the [mostly African-American] Nation of Islam ("Black Muslim") teachings of Elijah Muhammed. Muhammed recommended to his followers that they listen to Rutherford's radio broadcasts, and he sometimes paraphrased what was in Rutherford's books. Now and then you hear some overlap in his teachings and those of the Rutherford, with a twist:
Elijah Muhammad believed that the white race was created by Yakub, a Black scientist, and that Allah had allowed this devilish race to hold power for 6,000 years. Their time was up in 1914, and the 20th century was to be the time for Black people to assert themselves. -- https://www.britannica.com/topic/Nation-of-Islam
He even thought that the nation's [white] kings have had their day as of 1914, and that Allah would intervene in the mid-1970s. JSTOR has a few articles discussing the doctrinal similaritles of the Black Muslims, along with chronology similarities. https://www.jstor.org/stable/1384578

Actually it was very similar to the way Miller/Barbour/Russell calculated 1844/1874 and ultimately even 1914. The primary way of calculating 1914 was not the seven times of Leviticus 26 (which later became the 7 times of the Daniel 4 tree dream). That method was considered just a supportive but inferior method by Russell.
One of the original "better and clearer" methods made use of that 538 date as seen in the William Miller chart that @Space Merchant showed above. We might be forgiven if we see 538 and 606 in the chart and assume that these are BCE dates such the first year of Cyrus (which was 538 BCE) after he captured Babylon. But it's not. It's 538 A.D., aka, 538 C.E. (And, for Miller, 606 A.D. was the rise of Mohammedism.) 538 A.D. is the date that the Ostrogothic Empire was supposedly overthrown, about 500 years AFTER the time of Jesus, NOT BEFORE. (For Barbour, it was 538 AD + Daniel's 1,260 days to start  the "time of the end" in 1798 AD, and 538 + Daniel's 1,335 days (years) = 1873 AD, which failed for Barbour, so he had already adjusted it to 1874 when he convinced Russell. This is also why Russell started the time of the end in 1799, not 1798. (Evidenced by Papal rule being rejected then in the French Revolution.) Ultimately it was 539 AD + 1,335 + 40 years  = 1914. Russell's inherited methods finally had to be dropped under Rutherford. We dropped the "Israel's doubles" method, and dropped the Leviticus 26 "seven times" method, finally leaving us with only the inferior Daniel 4 method which also referred to seven times.
Newton, a brilliant man, but who also got involved in some of this nonsense, realized that people were just picking dates for the supposed beginning of Papal "political" rule, or the start of any particularly bad pope, in order to put a start date on a Babylonian Papal Antichrist and/or "Holy Roman Empire." They were picking dates just so that the end date (by adding 1260, for example) would land in their own generation. That 538/539 AD date for Miller/Barbour/Russell was considered to be useful for this kind of thing in the 1800's. But Newton said it should start in 756 AD or even 800 AD or perhaps some time in between: 756 +1260 = 2016; 772 + 1260 = 2032; 800 + 1260 = 2060.
Wikipedia has it pretty close here, I think:
Over the years, a large amount of media attention and public interest has circulated regarding largely unknown and unpublished documents, evidently written by Isaac Newton, that indicate he believed the world could end in 2060. While Newton also had many other possible dates (e.g. 2034),[39] he did not believe that the end of the world would take place specifically in 2060.[40]
Like most Protestant theologians of his time, Newton believed that the Papal Office and not any one particular Pope was the fulfillment of the Biblical predictions about Antichrist, whose rule was predicted to last for 1,260 years. They applied the day-year principle (in which a day represents a year in prophecy) to certain key verses in the books of Daniel[41] and Revelation[42] (also known as the Apocalypse), and looked for significant dates in the Papacy's rise to power to begin this timeline. Newton's calculation ending in 2060 is based on the 1,260-year timeline commencing in 800 AD when Charlemagne became the first Holy Roman Emperor and reconfirmed the earlier (756 AD) Donation of Pepin to the Papacy.[35]
    2016 vs. 2060
Between the time he wrote his 2060 prediction (about 1704) until his death in 1727 Newton conversed, both first hand and by correspondence, with other famous theologians of his time. Those contemporaries who knew him during the remaining 23 years of his life appear to be in agreement that Newton, and the "best interpreters" including Jonathan Edwards, Robert Fleming, Moses Lowman, Phillip Doddridge, and Bishop Thomas Newton, were eventually "pretty well agreed" that the 1,260-year timeline should be calculated from the year 756 AD.[43]
    F. A. Cox also confirmed that this was the view of Newton and others, including himself:
Thomas Williams stated that this timeline had become the predominant view among the leading Protestant theologians of his time:
In April of 756 AD, Pepin, King of France, accompanied by Pope Stephen II entered northern Italy, forcing the Lombard King Aistulf to lift his siege of Rome, and return to Pavia. Following Aistulf's capitulation, Pepin gave the newly conquered territories to the Papacy by means of the Donation of Pepin, thereby elevating the Pope from being a subject of the Byzantine Empire to head of state, with temporal power over the newly constituted Papal States.
The end of the timeline is based on Daniel 8:25 which reads "he shall be broken without hand" and is understood to mean that the end of the Papacy will not be caused by any human action.[46] Volcanic activity is described as the means by which Rome will be overthrown.[47]

People keep making this claim, but no one has ever seemed to come up with the evidence. Every one I have seen has always been a spin-off of Second Adventists (after William Miller) or the Bible Students (after Barbour/Russell).

And xero in his new topic said this
...we implicitly act as if this isn't true, boldly concluding things Jehovah's going to do or not do and even the manner of his doing or not doing.
    We can't let it go.
Um, two minds with a single thought, or, an AKA ?
