I’m with you on that ungrateful relative situation! Too many times I, also, have taken a ‘down and out’ woman into my home, only to be shocked at how they take advantage of it or have standards that I can’t handle in my home.

We all have our strengths, weaknesses, idiosyncrasies. You rather remind of “the Sons of Thunder” whom Jesus chose to be among the 12: James & John.

    *** Insight, Vol. 2, p.91 ***
“Early in their ministry as apostles, Jesus gave the surname Boanerges (meaning “Sons of Thunder”) to John and his brother James. (Mr 3:17) This title certainly does not denote any soft sentimentality or lack of vigor but, rather, dynamism of personality. When a Samaritan village refused to receive Jesus, these “Sons of Thunder” were ready to call down fire from heaven to annihilate its inhabitants. Previously, John had tried to prevent a man from expelling demons in Jesus’ name. Jesus gave reproof and correction in each case.—Lu 9:49-56.
The two brothers on those occasions showed misunderstanding and, to a great extent, lacked the balance and the loving, merciful spirit that they later developed. Nevertheless, on these two occasions the brothers manifested a spirit of loyalty and a decisive, vigorous personality that, channeled in the right direction, made them strong, energetic, faithful witnesses. James died a martyr’s death at the hands of Herod Agrippa I (Ac 12:1, 2), and John endured as a pillar “in the tribulation and kingdom and endurance in company with Jesus” as the last living apostle.—Re 1:9.
When James and John apparently got their mother to request that they sit next to Christ in his Kingdom, they demonstrated an ambitious spirit that made the other apostles indignant. But it afforded Jesus a fine opportunity to explain that the one great among them would be the one who served the others. Then he pointed out that even He came to minister and to give his life a ransom for many. (Mt 20:20-28; Mr 10:35-45) However selfish their desire was, the incident reveals their faith in the reality of the Kingdom.“
Plus you provide more laughs than a barrel of monkeys. And don’t we need that in these ‘critical times hard to deal with?!

    Doesn’t sound Christlike to me…
“The one who loves God should be loving his brother also.”—1 John 4:21
    *** w68 10/1 p.592 ***
What, though, is involved in loving fellow Christians? What is a proper relationship with them? How should we view our association with one another in the Christian congregation?
The worldly view often is to seek friends or associates on the basis of what they can do to enhance one’s prestige and image. It is common for worldly persons to consider themselves superior or more important than others. Many times their attitude is to use others, to cheat or tread on them before others can do the same to them. But how different is the balanced Christian view!
Note the inspired admonition of God’s Word: Do “nothing out of contentiousness or out of egotism, but with lowliness of mind considering that the others are superior to you, keeping an eye, not in personal interest upon just your own matters, but also in personal interest upon those of the others. Keep this mental attitude in you that was also in Christ Jesus, who, although he was existing in God’s form, . . . emptied himself and took a slave’s form.”—Phil. 2:2-7.

In a religious debate forum, you can’t just be unhappy with the other person‘s viewpoint, you have to destroy it with Facts and sound reasoning and reason and logic so that it is obvious to everybody.
The technique you use is quite contrary to that. You ask rhetorical questions of similar things or try to throw the burden on the personality and character of the poster.
Or questions to answer would require a 30 page thesis, like “How is that different from the way Adolph Hitler would do it?”
This never works, because it’s not using fact, reality based, independently verifiable reason and logic, it is using obfuscation and redirection.
Agenda driven arguments almost always fail unless they’re based on solid, verifiable and clearly elucidated truth.
That is why on this earth there may be At any one time 2 billion Wally McNasty’s, and their arguments will fail if challenged.
If I am in a knock down, drag out religious debate, (and I’ got my bloody wounds  in  knock down, drag out religious debate in IRC many years ago, and had my ass handed back to me on a platter for irrational debate), I realized that you CAN have faulty logic handed back to you on a plate like steaming entrails.
Very painfull to realize your cherished agenda is wrong.

    @Allen Smith
Not sure if you were referencing my comments, but if so, read it again. I was saying that neither Sampson nor Christ were committing suicide. Christ told that he could have prevented his death by calling upon legions of angels. Sampson, very likely, could not know whether pulling down the pillars would mean his death or if Jehovah might spare his life miraculously.

Wow! Relevance. What an excuse to go against't what is written in Isaiah, and the Gospels about Christ fulfillment.
I don't recall where an intelligent person would consider equating suicide with Christ sacrifice for all humanity and suggest he committed suicide because it was written about such sacrifice.
    Sad day for scripture.

I am referring more in line with what your friend James is wanting to tell people. Suicide is not a sin. IN the Catholic Church, Fathers believe they can remove sin by confession. So, James is more inline with the Catholic Ideology about sin.
Most honest Christians faiths believe suicide is sin.

Now, in understanding what is suicide, don't just look at man's definition of that would.
Scripture and Man's dictionary don't sync in this case. An example would be, if a person committed suicide by cop. Who is judged?
(James 2:10-13) 10 For if anyone obeys all the Law but makes a false step in one point, he has become an offender against all of it. 11 For the one who said, “You must not commit adultery,” also said, “You must not murder.” If, now, you do not commit adultery but you do murder, you have become a transgressor of law. 12 Keep on speaking and behaving in such a way as those do who are going to be judged by the law of a free people. 13 For the one who does not practice mercy will have his judgment without mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

In those cases, both the cop and the subject will be judged.

The is no record in the Bible that there is any punishment whatsoever for suicide, and many people go on “Suicide Missions” , knowing for a certainty that they are going to die, in duty to some perceived concept of the “greater good”.
Often we as bystanders view this a an honorable thing of courage and a sound mind, as well as a lamentable tragedy.
Jesus, of course, was the perfect example.

Unfortunately, that's how he deals with facts. He makes up things as he goes along, and when he is caught, he lashes out. There can be only one winner, that would be him. Then he starts to insult and fight, just to get rid of people that challenge his kind of facts. None facts.

No! The circumstance is too broad. Therefore, unattainable. Not only did he serve Satan's purpose, but committed suicide for the harm he felt he had done. Judas Iscariot had, full faculties and wasn't mentally challenged. His anguish defeated him. So, John 5:30 doesn't apply unless someone at that time judged him and hung him for committing the most heinous crime known to man, giving up God's son for 30 pieces of silver.

Doesn’t that just frost you when that happens?
when you can save as many people by your death as did our Lord then I’ll sanction your ‘suicide’ as well.
Quite the contrary. His final performance brought the house down.
The point is that just after Allen ascends from the netherworld, this feed suddenly runs several pages overnight. And the time spent is time you never get back.
As it turns out, our deceased dog was named Samson. I would tell people he was not the Sampson that pushes apart the pillars but the Samson who pees on them.
There are times when that serves him well, I have noticed
No sane member of the public would ever come here.
    Whoa
Yes, it’s a big headache for them, but frankly the same thing occurs with any death. If only to shovel out the house, there’s usually lots for survivors to do.
Doesn’t this fly in the face of what we recently learned about John 5:30–that an ‘unrighteous’ resurrected one’s future depends upon how they respond to God’s provisions from that time on, not a judgment of what they did in their prior life. Upon death, a person’s sin has been paid for.
    what’s left of it.
Both. They caught me easily enough.

I made a similar comment about motive and circumstance. However, the erred view would be to suggest, God has no judgment at the moment of that act of suicide. We shouldn't pretend to know what God is thinking other than, he holds every life precious.
To me, the accountability has manifested to the second death. Jude 1:12, Revelation 21:8. Why, would Jesus resurrect those he plans to condemn in the first resurrection? It makes no sense.

    Actually, Anna said the above…
    _________________________________

    What about Judas Iscariot?
Jesus said he was the “son of destruction” = will inherit destruction.
When I was with them, I used to watch over them on account of your own name, which you have given me; and I have protected them, and not one of them is destroyed except the son of destruction, so that the scripture might be fulfilled. John 17:12

@Anna, @Thinking The purpose of scripture is not to interpret like the Pharisees.
(James 4:13-17) 13 Come, now, you who say: “Today or tomorrow we will travel to this city and will spend a year there, and we will do business and make some profit,” 14 whereas you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. For you are a mist that appears for a little while and then disappears. 15 Instead, you should say: “If Jehovah wills, we will live and do this or that.” 16 But now you take pride in your arrogant boasting. All such boasting is wicked. 17 Therefore, if someone knows how to do what is right and yet does not do it, it is a sin for him.

“Suicide-by-COP” is still suicide, even if the COPs are Roman Soldiers.

How would you justify to the public Romans 6:23 as you relate with suicide. You just said it. Christ paid a heavy price for our mortals souls. Does a person committing suicide value that sacrifice?
