Blanchie DeGrate reacted to Queen Esther in The Origins of Halloween — What Does the Bible Say About Them?
WOULD A CHRISTIAN PARTICIPATE IN HALLOWEEN? ( still less days..)
Known for its witches, goblins, and other grotesque decorations and paraphernalia, HALLOWEEN.....Also called All Hallows' Eve or the eve of All Saints' Day..... can be traced back to the ancient Celts of Britain and Ireland. On the full moon nearest November 1, they celebrated the festival of Samhain, meaning "Summer's End." They believed that during Samhain, the veil between the human and the supernatural worlds was parted and that spirits, both good and evil, roamed the earth. The souls of the dead were thought to return to their homes, and families would put out food and drink for their ghostly visitors in hopes of appeasing them. Thus, when children today, dressed as ghosts or witches, go from house to house threatening a mischievous trick unless they receive, they unwittingly perpetuate the rituals of Samhain.
So, the answer is a resounding NO.... No Christian walking in the footsteps of Christ Jesus would even consider such a celebration. Doing so pleases Satan the Devil and displeases Jehovah God, and his Son, Christ Jesus.

The attached might have been what you were looking for. I would be careful with how such a document is used. I haven't checked if it is up to date, and the use of such material, in case of future issues, could make it obvious to medical or legal professionals that decisions are not actually based on personal conscience, but on opinions provided through excerpts from Watch Tower publications included in the workbook.
(For example, if someone states that he or she has based their "conscience" on the workbook, and then decides to update their "conscience" after finding out that the workbook was not exactly up to date with Watch Tower publications, then it might be difficult to argue that their decision was really based on their own conscience.)

? Jehovah God Is At The Window ?
There was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm.
He was given a slingshot to play with out in the woods.
He practiced in the woods, but he could never hit the target.
Getting a little discouraged, he headed back for dinnerÂ…
As he was walking back he saw GrandmaÂ’s pet duck.
Just out of impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head and killed it.
He was shocked and grieved
In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the wood pile; only to see, his sister watching !
Sally had seen it all, but she said nothing.
After lunch the next day Grandma said, " Sally, letÂ’s wash the dishes "
But Sally said, " Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen "
Then she whispered to him, " Remember the duck "
So Johnny did the dishes.
Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing and Grandma said,
" IÂ’m sorry but I need Sally to help make supper. "
Sally just smiled and said, " well thatÂ’s all right because Johnny told me he wanted to help. "
She whispered again, " Remember the duck ? "
So Sally went fishing and Johnny stayed to help.
After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and SallyÂ’s; he
Finally couldnÂ’t stand it any longer.
He came to Grandma and confessed that he had killed the duck.
Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug and said, " Sweetheart, I know. You see, I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing, but because I love you, I forgave you. I was just wondering how long you would let Sally make a slave of you "
Thought for the day and every day thereafter
Whatever is in your past, whatever you have done ?
And the devil keeps throwing it up in your face - lying, cheating, debt, fear, bad habits, hatred, anger, bitterness, etc. - whatever it is, You need to know, Jehovah God was standing at the window and He saw the whole thing.
He has seen your whole life,
He wants you to know that He loves you and that you are forgiven,
He’s just wondering, how long you will let the devil make a slave of you....
The great thing about Jehovah is that when you ask for forgiveness
He not only forgives you, but He forgets It is by God’s grace and mercy that we are saved.
Go ahead and make the difference in someoneÂ’s life today.
Share this with a friend and always remember,
Jehovah God is at the window

Johnny, Sally, and the Duck A Story of Forgiveness....
A little boy visiting his grandparents was given his first slingshot. He practiced in the woods, but he could never hit his target.
As he came back to Grandma’s back yard, he spied her pet duck. On an impulse he took aim and let fly. The stone hit, and the duck fell dead.
The boy panicked. Desperately he hid the dead duck in the wood pile, only to look up and see his sister watching. Sally had seen it all, but she said nothing.
After lunch that day, Grandma said, “Sally, let’s wash the dishes.” But Sally said, “Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen today. Didn’t you Johnny?” And she whispered to him, “Remember the duck!” So Johnny did the dishes.
Later, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing. Grandma said, “I’m sorry, but I need Sally to help me make supper.” Sally smiled and said, “That’s all taken care of. Johnny wants to do it.” Again she whispered, “Remember the duck.” Johnny stayed while Sally went fishing.
After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and Sally’s, finally he couldn’t stand it. He confessed to Grandma that he’d killed the duck.
“I know, Johnny,” she said, giving him a hug. “I was standing at the window and saw the whole thing. Because I love you, I forgave you. But I wondered how long you would let Sally make a slave of you.”

( THE BESTÂ VERSION...)
Grandma’s Duck
A little boy and his sister once spent a week visiting their grandparents on their farm. The little boy was given a slingshot to play with out in the woods. He practiced and practiced, aiming at trees or old tin cans, but he could never hit his target.
Discouraged, he headed back to the house as dinner time was approaching. As he was walking back, he saw GrandmaÂ’s pet duck. Just out of impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square on the head, and killed it. He was shocked and greatly saddened to harm the innocent duck.
Panicked, he hid the dead duck in a wood pile, only to see his sister, Sally, watching! Sally had seen it all, but she said nothing.
After lunch the next day, Grandma said, “Sally, let’s wash the dishes.”
But Sally said, “Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen.” Then she whispered to her brother, “Remember, I know about the duck!” So Johnny did the dishes.
Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing but Grandma said, “I’m sorry, but I need Sally to stay here and help make supper.” Sally just smiled and said, “That’s ok. Johnny told me, HE wanted to help make supper!”
She whispered to her brother again, “Remember, I know about the duck!” So Sally went fishing while Johnny stayed home and helped make dinner.
After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and Sally’s, he finally couldn’t stand it any longer. He came to his Grandma and confessed in tears that he had killed her pet duck. Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug, and said, “Sweetheart, I know. You see, I was standing at the window and saw the whole thing, but because I love you, I forgave you. I was just wondering how long you would let Sally make you her slave.”
In our story here, the grandmother saw all, and forgave her grandson. In the Bible we read that the Father knows all, and for His child, forgives all. How complete is that forgiveness?
Psalm 103:12 says, “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.”
Isaiah 1:18 says, “though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.”
And Hebrews 8:12 speaks of the Lord saying of His people, quote, “their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.”
Friend, do you really think you have any secrets from the Lord? Is the enemy holding you hostage to your own thoughts, as you remember this sin and that sin—sins that, for the child of God, these verses tell us the Lord has removed as far as the east from the west,
that have been turned from scarlet to white as snow, that the Lord says he remembers no more?
In light of what the Lord has already declared in these and many other verses, ought we not to heed the words of Phil 3:13-14, where we read of, quote, “forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
As the little boy in our story turned to his grandmother, so, too, child of God, turn to your HEAVENLY Father

Christ died once for all time for sins, a righteous person for unrighteous ones.—1 Pet. 3:18.
Because of inherited sin, we are all facing the death penalty. (Rom. 5:12) Lovingly, Jehovah arranged for Jesus to come to the earth and “taste death for everyone.” (Heb. 2:9) Not only did Jehovah save our present life but he laid the basis for wiping out the cause of death forever. (Isa. 25:7, 8; 1 Cor. 15:22, 26) All who exercise faith in Jesus will receive everlasting life in peace and happiness as earthly subjects of God’s Kingdom by Christ or, for the anointed, as corulers in that Kingdom. (Rom. 6:23; Rev. 5:9, 10) What other blessings are included in this gift from Jehovah? Jehovah’s gift includes the curing of all our sicknesses, the transformation of our earth into a paradise, and the resurrection of the dead. (Isa. 33:24; 35:5, 6; John 5:28, 29) We surely love Jehovah and his dear Son for giving us what is an “indescribable free gift.”—2 Cor. 9:15. w16.01 2:5, 6

Do not drink water any longer, but take a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent cases of sickness.—1 Tim. 5:23.
We do not live at a time when a fellow Christian can use “gifts of healing” to cure us. (1 Cor. 12:9) But some well-intentioned brothers give unsolicited health recommendations. Granted, someone might simply offer general, practical suggestions. Paul did so when Timothy was experiencing stomach problems, perhaps because the local water was polluted. That, however, is quite different from trying to persuade a fellow Witness to use some herb, remedy, or diet that may not be effective or in some cases may even be harmful. At times, some have tried to persuade others with an explanation: ‘My relative had a similar disease, and he took . . . Then he got well.’ No matter how sincere the suggestion, we do well to keep in mind that there may be risks even with widely used medications and treatments.—Prov. 27:12. w15 12/15 4:13

Clothing Did Not Wear Out ?  Miracles From Jehovah’s Hand ! ?
In what way did the IsraelitesÂ’ clothing not wear out and their feet not become swollen during their 40 year wilderness trek? This was a miraculous provision, as was the regular supply of manna. The Israelites used the same garments and protective footwear they started out with, likely passing them on to others as children grew up and adults died.
Today, Jehovah also cares for our needs so that we can serve him faithfully and with perseverance. We never want to lose our faith in Jehovah and disobey him like the thousands of Israelites who died in the wilderness. Their bad example is a warning for us today. - Highlights From the Book of Deuteronomy 8:3,4.

Blanchie DeGrate reacted to Queen Esther in Daily text, Friday, October 27. 2017
O Jehovah, open my lips, so that my mouth may declare your praise.—Ps. 51:15.
Speech is part of our daily life, but we do not need to talk all the time. In fact, the Bible says that there is “a time to be silent.” (Eccl. 3:7) Maintaining silence when others are speaking can be a mark of respect. (Job 6:24) Controlling our tongue to keep quiet about a confidential matter gives evidence of discretion and discernment. (Prov. 20:19) Restraining our tongue when we are provoked is the course of wisdom. (Ps. 4:4) On the other hand, the Bible also says that there is “a time to speak.” (Eccl. 3:7) If a friend gave you a beautiful present, you would probably not store it out of sight. Rather, you would show your appreciation by putting it to good use. We show our gratitude for Jehovah’s gift of speech by using it wisely. That might include expressing our feelings, communicating our needs, sharing words of encouragement, and giving God praise. w15 12/15 3:4, 5
