"Irma" war wie eine Sintflut - für ganz Florida. Selbst im Nordosten des US-Bundesstaat kommt es zu Überschwemmungen. 6,2 Millionen Haushalte bislang ohne Strom.  Und das Ausmaß der Schäden ist noch nicht ansatzweise absehbar.
Sturzfluten, überschwemmte Straßen, Stromausfälle: Nachdem der Hurrikan "Irma" mit Urgewalt über Florida hinweggezogen ist, kämpft der Bundesstaat mit den Folgen.
 
Der Sturm riss in vielen Teilen Hausdächer herab und kappte Stromleitungen. Es gab Berichte über Plünderungen und Einbrüche. Mindestens vier Menschen kamen ums Leben.
Obwohl die befürchteten schlimmsten Katastrophen-Szenarien in Florida ausblieben, waren die ersten Schadensbilanzen des Sturms dennoch gewaltig.
6,2 Millionen Haushalte in Florida ohne Strom....
Der Sturm hatte wegen seiner enormen Größe die gesamte Halbinsel erfasst. Auch Städte im Nordosten kämpften mit Überschwemmungen.
Nach Angaben der Behörden waren am Montag 6,2 Millionen Haushalte in Florida von der Stromversorgung abgeschnitten - mehr als die Hälfte aller Haushalte in dem Bundesstaat. Die Katastrophenschutzbehörde Fema rechnete damit, dass einige Gegenden noch über Wochen keinen Strom haben könnten.

Nach dem Sturm ist vor dem Aufräumen
In Miami wälzten sich Wassermassen durch die Altstadt und das Bankenviertel. Auf Bildern und Videos war zu sehen, wie der Sturm das Wasser in die Stadt drückte und große Straßen zu reißenden Flüssen machte. Auch aus der zentral gelegenen Großstadt Orlando berichteten lokale Medien und Augenzeugen auf Twitter von hüfthohem Wasser.

An der Südwestküste Floridas schien am Montag wieder die Sonne. Daniel Rodriguez (34) konnte in sein Haus zurückkehren. Die Schäden im Inneren hielten sich in Grenzen.  Aber auf dem Dach lag ein Baum....
Zusammen mit seinem Stiefsohn Emiliano, mit Nachbarn und Freunden versuchte Rodriguez, zumindest die völlig verwüstete Zufahrtsstraße wieder nutzbar zu machen. Mit Macheten und Kettensägen bearbeiteten sie bei 30 Grad Celsius die querliegenden Bäume.

US-Präsident Donald Trump kündigte an, möglichst bald nach Florida reisen zu wollen, um sich ein Bild von den Schäden zu machen. "Das sind Stürme von katastrophalem Ausmaß", erklärte er am Montag.
Der Präsident appellierte gleichzeitig an das Gemeinschaftsgefühl der Gesellschaft. "Wenn Amerikaner in Not sind, stehen sie zusammen."
Bereits bevor "Irma" aufs Festland getroffen war, hatte Trump eine Notfall-Deklaration erlassen.

5 millions  people  have  just  NO  power  and  the  most  houses  are  broken  on  the  west  side  of  Florida !  Also  the  little  town  "Fort  Myers"  where  I've  friends.  They  had  a  wonderful  white  house  with  2  pools,  a very  big  american  kitchen,  many  plants,  double  garage,  king-size  bed's  etc.  -   NO  sign,  if  I  lost  my  old  friends  in  Fort  Myers....
They  invited  me  1995,  I  was  flown  over  Atlanta...   WOW,  what  a  very  very  big  airport I  will  see  all  tmw  in  TV....  Many  pensioners  only  had  little  houses  of  wood  in  Fort  Myers.  Such  of  houses  mostly  first  broken.  TRUMP  will  "soon"  go  to  Florida,  but  soon  all  money  is  consumed  for  so  many  catastrophes !!   A  SAD  END-TIME  ;-((

But before,  we will see still some other  SIGNS....  example,  PEACE & SECURITY !
