DEBATES OF THE PARTIES IN THE CASE FOR "LIQUIDATION" OF JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES UNDERWAY IN RUSSIAN SUPREME COURT

Judicial proceedings in the lawsuit of the Russian Ministry of Justice for the liquidation of all 396 religious organizations of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia, for finding them to be extremist, and for banning their activity and confiscating their property was resumed on 20 April in the Supreme Court of the RF. As a Portal-Credo.Ru correspondent reports, the trial has moved into the final stage; at the present time debates of the parties are proceeding in the courtroom.
 
The session began with the denial by Judge Ivanenko of a JW petition to add to the materials of the case a statement of the European Union on the matter of persecution of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia
 
In his speech during debates, the lawyer for the Ministry of Justice placed stress on the fact that from the very name of the Administrative Center (a centralized organization) of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia follows its leadership role with respect to the local JW organizations, and also on the "indicators of extremism" in the activity of these organizations. The plaintiff includes in such indicators the importation over the course of 25 years into the RF of literature that subsequently was ruled to be "extremist," writing the word itself "extremist" in quotation marks, and statements by JW about plants on them of literature, which supposedly give evidence that the believers "have not repented" of their "extremist activity."
 
JW attorney Omelchenko, in his speech, called attention to the fact that the Supreme Court of Russia has several time pointed out that only real actions, which aim for the violent change of the foundations of the constitutional structure, may be ruled to be extremist, and not such incidents as the justice ministry enumerates. In the lawyer's opinion, the actions of the Ministry of Justice have all the signs of political repressions, which the Jehovah's Witnesses already were subjected to during soviet times.
 
The attorney Zhenkov recalled that such a measure as the complete confiscation of all church buildings of a whole confession was undertaken a single time in all the history of Russia—in 1918. "In this courtroom," the attorney said, "there is present a person who was born in prison. Because his mama, five months pregnant, was sentenced as an enemy of the people to eight years in prison merely because she was a Jehovah's Witness. She gave birth in prison, and for two years the baby lived in the prison's children's home. His father could not take him, because he had been exiled to Siberia. In 1991 the state acknowledged the mother as a victim of political repressions, apologized to her, and allocated a pension. And now here in the court, this man, born in prison, came up to me and asked: 'Does the Ministry of Justice really want to repeat this horrible history?' And I did not know what to answer. And even now I do not know what motivates the representatives of the Ministry of Justice and those who are directing this trial."
 
In his opinion, if the court "liquidates" the JW organization, then the Russian federation "will successfully acquire for itself" 170 thousand prisoners of conscience and the corresponding reputation.

The ties of international brotherhood took on added meaning for Jehovah’s Witnesses in the Czech Republic in 1998. International conventions featuring the theme “God’s Way of Life” were being held around the globe.
However, on more than one occasion, Jehovah blinded the eyes of those who wanted to cause harm to his servants. Brother Mařák, from Plzeň, recalls: “I was then serving as a field overseer. And in a cabinet with glass doors, I had a large envelope containing service reports, donations, and a list of the names of all the elders and ministerial servants. When the men conducting the search approached the cabinet, my wife looked at me and began silently begging Jehovah for help. The men peered through the glass right at the large gray envelope, but it was as if their eyes were blinded and they did not see it. We thanked Jehovah from the bottom of our hearts for this protection.”
Romania
The Bible foretold that persecution of true Christians would reach a climax during the last days. (Gen. 3:15; Rev. 12:13, 17) Romania is a land where that prophecy has seen striking fulfillment. Yet, as this account will show, Jehovah’s Witnesses in Romania have let nothing extinguish the flame of truth that burns brightly in the hearts of God’s people. (Jer. 20:9) Rather, they have recommended themselves “as God’s ministers, by the endurance of much, by tribulations, by cases of need, by difficulties, by beatings, by prisons.” (2 Cor. 6:4, 5) May their record of integrity encourage all who desire to walk with God during these difficult times.

One day in 1968, I was hand copying a Watchtower onto paper stencils for duplication. Not thinking, I failed to hide the stencils when I went out to a Christian meeting. As soon as I arrived home at midnight, I heard a car stop. Before I could see who it was, five Securitate agents, armed with a search warrant, entered the house. I was terrified but managed to maintain my composure. At the same time, I implored Jehovah to forgive me for my carelessness, promising that I would never leave work out again.
The officer in charge sat down at the table right next to the papers, which I had hastily covered with a cloth when I heard the car stop. He stayed there until the inspection was finished a few hours later. While writing up his report—just inches from the stencils—he tidied up the cloth on a number of occasions. His report stated that the agents had found no banned literature in the house or on any person.

Council of Europe Committee of Ministers heard a report on the situation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia
April 20, 2017 Trying to complete ban Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia
  5 April 2017 in Strasbourg (France) at the 1283 meeting, the Committee of Ministers (body control over the execution of ECHR judgments) raised the issue of the persecution of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia in light of the lawsuit filed by the Ministry of Justice to the Supreme Court. The corresponding statement was made by representative of the European Union.

Declaration by the European Union on the issue of the persecution of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia
The statement of claim dated March 15, filed by the Russian Federation Ministry of Justice to the Supreme Court, is the latest undertaken harsh measure against Jehovah's Witnesses and the further strengthening of the violation of their rights and the prosecution of which they are exposed in Russia, which is contrary to international standards on freedom of religion or convictions.
This solution can lead to the elimination of the Administrative Center and all local offices of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia and the confiscation of their property. Meanwhile, the Ministry of canopy at the Administrative Center of the label "extremist" and imposed across the country ban on all legal entities of Jehovah's Witnesses. This is a very negative development of events, which can lead to criminal charges against Jehovah's Witnesses but for his confession of their religion.

The European Union continues to promote freedom of religion or belief as a right that must be exercised by all and everywhere, based on the principles of equality, non-discrimination and universality. In accordance with the international law of human rights to freedom of religion or belief, together with other includes (but is not limited to): the legal capacity of a legal entity and non-interference in internal affairs, including the right to establish and maintain open access places of worship or assembly, the freedom to choose and train leaders and the right to carry out social, cultural, educational and charitable activities.

What would be fantastic is if the final court transcript of the actual decision would be made public, because this would be a clear summary of the case, and clear explanation for the decision, (whichever way it goes) neatly packaged in a few pages. (But hopefully not translated by Google, I don't think I could take any more "little wives").

Because there isn't any. If they submit fabricated evidence for scrutiny, they will have a problem. Let's hope there is more justice in the Supreme Court than in the Ministry of.

Anything can turn peoples interest if Jehovah's wants it and if they have an enquiring mind. I met a woman once who said she came to the Circuit Assembly because her neighbour had been disfellowshipped. I was puzzled and asked her how so? She said because the neighbour had started behaving so badly since leaving Jehovah's Witnesses, she had to come and see why they had been so much better before.
One of the first pieces of information I ever read on Jehovah's Witnesses was a trash UK newspaper article on Jehovah's Witnesses being crazy for not celebrating Christmas, birthdays etc. This just made me curious because I wondered how they had the guts to do it with so much bad publicity.
