Governing Body Encourages Witnesses in Russia and Ukraine

“We felt as if we were being showered with love!” That was the reaction of one woman in Ukraine who listened to an important letter read by Stephen Lett of the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was one of the 165,000 Witnesses who heard Brother Lett speak during his visit to the country on that weekend in May.

Scriptural talks and the reading of that letter were translated into five languages and transmitted to about 700 Kingdom Halls throughout Ukraine.    WOW !!

    656565656566666666333434.jpg

On the same weekend, Mark Sanderson, who is also a member of the Governing Body, read the letter as part of a program presented to our brothers across Russia. That program was translated into 14 languages, and 180,413 in more than 2,500 congregations in Belarus and Russia were tied in to it.

The letter, which came from the Governing Body, was addressed to all congregations in Russia and Ukraine. Brother Sanderson read it in Russian, which prompted the Russia branch office to write: “The brothers and sisters were deeply touched that the Governing Body is so interested in this part of the world field. All of us felt as though we were given a big hug by the Governing Body.”

The letter aimed to comfort and strengthen the Witnesses in the region where there has been political unrest. It urged the brothers to continue to be “no part of the world” by remaining neutral regarding the world’s political issues.—John 17:16.

To that end, the Governing Body encouraged the Witnesses to maintain a close relationship with Jehovah through prayer, study, and meditation on God’s Word. The audience was reminded that regardless of any tests they may face, they can be confident in the unfailing divine promise found at Isaiah 54:17: “No weapon formed against you will have any success.”

The Governing Body concluded their letter with the words: “We love you all very much. Please be assured that you are regularly in our thoughts and that we are supplicating Jehovah on your behalf.”

Commenting on the visits, the Ukraine branch office of Jehovah’s Witnesses wrote: “The brothers were overwhelmed by the loving care and attention of the Governing Body. Having Brothers Lett and Sanderson in Ukraine and Russia on the same weekend underscored the unity of God’s people and showed the brothers how much Jehovah and Jesus care about them. All of us agreed that this was the right time for a visit, and we feel strengthened to continue serving Jehovah despite any difficulties we may encounter.”

NOW  WE  ARE  LOOKING  FORWARD  TO  THE  RUSSIAN  REGIONAL  CONVENTION....

  3. . 3 First of all know this, that in the last days ridiculers will come with their ridicule, proceeding according to their own desires 4 and saying: “Where is this promised presence of his? Why, from the day our forefathers fell asleep in death, all things are continuing exactly as they were from creation’s beginning.”
5 For they deliberately ignore this fact, that long ago there were heavens and an earth standing firmly out of water and in the midst of water by the word of God; 6 and that by those means the world of that time suffered destruction when it was flooded with water. 7 But by the same word the heavens and the earth that now exist are reserved for fire and are being kept until the day of judgment and of destruction of the ungodly people.

YES...   I  also  never  believe  to  that !   VERY  interesting  -  but  not  true.  The  hammer  is  looking  'handmade'  -  but  not  140  million  years  old...  NO :D

Russia’s  Supreme  Court  to  Hear  Appeal  by  Jehovah’s Witnesses  on  July 17,  2017

Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia filed an appeal against the Supreme Court ruling that effectively banned their worship. The April 20 ruling, handed down by Judge Yuriy Ivanenko, terminated all activity of the Witnesses’ legal entities throughout the country. A three-judge panel of the Appellate Chamber of the Supreme Court will hear the appeal on July 17, 2017.

The appeal requests a full reversal of the ruling. It emphasizes that the ruling is not based on factual evidence and that Jehovah’s Witnesses are not guilty of extremist activity in any way. The appeal also highlights that the charges that led to the Supreme Court ruling are the same charges that authorities used as a basis to persecute the Witnesses during the Soviet era. They were later rehabilitated and exonerated from these charges. Additionally, the appeal emphasized that the ruling contradicts the guarantees of religious freedom embodied in Russia’s Constitution and its international commitments.

The ruling is already affecting the Witnesses in ways reminiscent of the oppression they experienced under Communist rule. Authorities are prosecuting some Witnesses for “extremist activity,” employers have dismissed Witnesses from their jobs, schoolteachers have intimidated Witness students in front of their classmates, and biased individuals have vandalized Kingdom Halls and firebombed two homes of Witnesses—burning the homes to the ground.

Jehovah’s Witnesses worldwide hope that the Appellate Chamber of Russia’s Supreme Court will see the injustice of the   earlier ruling and reverse it, thus protecting religious freedom and the security of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia.

LET'S  HOPE  THE  BEST  FOR  OUR  DEAR  RUSSIAN  BROTHER'S  AND  SISTER'S

He has come to the aid of Israel,  just as he spoke to our forefathers.—Luke 1:54, 55.

Those words reveal that Mary knew the inspired Scriptures well. Her words seem to echo some that were spoken in prayer by Hannah, the mother of the prophet Samuel. (1 Sam. 2:1-10) By one estimate, Mary made some 20 references to the Scriptures in her speech. Clearly, she was a woman who spoke freely about spiritual things. Mary drew liberally from the treasure trove in her heart, a storehouse of precious truths that she had learned from her greatest Friend, Jehovah God. Like Mary, we may at times find that we receive assignments from Jehovah that seem challenging. Like her, let us humbly put ourselves in Jehovah’s hands, trusting in him to act in our best interests. We can imitate Mary’s faith by listening carefully to what we are learning about Jehovah and his purposes, by meditating on spiritual truths, and by joyously telling others about what we have learned.—Ps. 77:11, 12; Luke 8:18; Rom. 10:15. w16.02 2:17, 18

¡Oh la profundidad de las riquezas y de la sabiduría y del conocimiento de Dios! (Rom. 11:33).

    https://wol.jw.org/es/wol/dt/r4/lp-s/2017/6/4

O the depth of God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge!—Rom. 11:33.

    https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/dt/r1/lp-e/2017/6/4

More than once, Jehovah stepped in and protected Abraham and Sarah, even doing so miraculously. (Gen. 12:10-20; 20:2-7, 10-12, 17, 18) Those experiences strengthened Abraham’s faith. Can we build a friendship with Jehovah? We can indeed! The needed knowledge and experience are readily available. Abraham had only a fraction of the abundant riches of wisdom now contained in the Bible. (Dan. 12:4) God’s Word is full of treasures that can deepen our knowledge about the “Maker of heaven and earth” and help us to build respect and love for him. (Gen. 14:22) As such feelings move us to obey God, we gain experience because we see how obeying him works out. We find that his counsel protects us and that he blesses and strengthens us. We learn that wholehearted service to God brings fulfillment, peace, and joy. (Ps. 34:8; Prov. 10:22) As we grow in such knowledge and experience, our faith in Jehovah and our friendship with him grow as well. w16.02 1:7, 8
