  1. This is my name forever.—Ex. 3:15. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/dt/r1/lp-e/2017/4/30 Those who study ancient Hebrew Bible manuscripts, such as the Dead Sea Scrolls, are struck by the many occurrences of the Tetragrammaton—the four Hebrew letters that represent God’s name. The divine name appears not only in those ancient Hebrew manuscripts but also in some copies of the Greek Septuagint from the second century B.C.E. through the first century C.E. Despite the clear evidence that the personal name of God belongs in the Bible, many translations completely omit the sacred name of God. In 1952, the Revised Standard Version was published. That version omitted the name, reversing the policy of the editors of the American Standard Version of 1901. Why? The preface says: “The use of any proper name for the one and only God . . . is entirely inappropriate for the universal faith of the Christian Church.” That set a pattern for many subsequent translations, English and non-English. w15 12/15 2:3-5

  14. May the God of peace . . . equip you with every good thing to do his will.—Heb. 13:20, 21. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/dt/r1/lp-e/2017/4/29 Jesus loved to talk about God’s Kingdom. According to the Bible record, he spoke more about the Kingdom than about any other subject—referring to it more than 100 times during his ministry. The Kingdom was truly dear to his heart. (Matt. 12:34) Shortly after his resurrection, Jesus met with more than 500 prospective Kingdom proclaimers. (1 Cor. 15:6) Perhaps it was on that occasion that he gave the command to take the Kingdom message to “people of all the nations”—a daunting task back then! This great work, Jesus foretold, would be carried on right up to “the conclusion of the system of things,” and that has proved to be the case. Quite likely you are having a share in the fulfillment of that commission and prophecy. (Matt. 28:19, 20) And our God has equipped us with “every good thing” to help us fulfill that commission. w15 11/15 5:1-3
  15. Russian Catholic official criticizes court ban on Jehovah's Witnesses.... By Jonathan Luxmoore, Catholic News Service, April 28, 2017 OXFORD, England – Russia's Catholic Church has condemned a Supreme Court decision to outlaw the Jehovah's Witnesses and warned the move will increase fears of new restrictions on Catholic rights. "Churches like ours don't recognize the Jehovah's Witnesses as Christian and don't engage in dialogue with them, but we must distinguish theological issues from legal rights," said Msgr. Igor Kovalevsky, secretary-general of the Moscow-based Russian bishops' conference. "The situation in Russia is complex and difficult now. There are very strong misgivings among Catholics that we, too, may be facing – if not persecution, then at least new acts of discrimination and limits on our freedom of belief," he said. An April 20 Supreme Court ruling branded Jehovah's Witnesses an "extremist organization" and ordered the nationwide seizure of its property. Msgr. Kovalevsky told Catholic News Service April 28 that the Catholic Church could not understand which activities could be deemed "extremist," adding that all religious groups had a right to "exist and develop in the Russian Federation" if they did not violate the law. "The law must apply fairly to everyone ... the law may be hard, but it's still the law. I think the government owes everyone a precise explanation why this group is being liquidated," Msgr. Kovalevsky said. Jehovah's Witnesses were registered in Russia in 1991 and re-registered in 1999, but have faced regular arrests and police raids for handing out leaflets and door-to-door preaching. Their members have been assaulted and their property vandalized. The Supreme Court ruling prescribed fines of up to nearly $10,700 and up to 10 years in jail for anyone engaging in Jehovah's Witnesses activities. Msgr. Kovalevsky said although there were no signs that the Catholic Church would be treated like the Jehovah's Witnesses, "the government needs to reassure citizens freedom of conscience will be upheld." "The Jehovah's Witnesses have the same right to defend dignity and faith and other citizens," he said. "Although upholding human rights isn't our main task, the Catholic Church defends everyone's right to freedom of conscience."
  16. KINGDOM PUBLISHERS ... Engaging in Public Witnessing. • Increased emphasis is now being placed on public witnessing: at bus stops, train stations, parking lots, in public squares, and markets. Go, therefore, and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.”* . . . .Matthew 28:19, 20. • Each day, (a number) of people visit our website. As the radio did in the past, our website today is reaching people with the good news, even in remote areas. - - - THE COMMISSION TO PREACH THE GOOD NEWS - - - After giving the commission to preach, Jesus promised his followers: “I am with you.” (Matthew 28:20) So this vast preaching work would be carried out under his direction. And our God has equipped us with “every good thing” to help us fulfill that commission. (Hebrew 13:20, 21) I. THE KING EQUIPS HIS SERVANTS TO PREACH Jesus compared “the word of the Kingdom” to seed that is sown on various types of soil. (Matthew 13:18, 19) II. USING EVERY POSSIBLE METHOD TO REACH PEOPLE Under the King’s direction, God’s people have used a variety of methods in order to reach as many as possible with the good news. This was especially important when ‘the workers were few.’ (Read Matthew 9:37.) III. TRAINING MINISTERS OF THE GOOD NEWS Publishers needed to know how to overcome objections tactfully and how to teach honesthearted ones skillfully. Doubtless moved by God’s spirit, Nathan H. Knorr saw the need to train publishers to use the gift of speech in the ministry. The solution? The Theocratic Ministry School, which was first organized in congregations in 1943. That school has helped us to become effective teachers. Charles Taze Russell ... showed remarkable foresight regarding the extent to which the preaching work would be accomplished. He told a close associate: “The work is increasing rapidly, and it will continue to increase, for there is a world-wide work to be done in preaching the ‘gospel of the kingdom.’” (Faith on the March, by A. H. Macmillan, p. 69) How right he was! And how grateful we are that the God of peace continues to equip us for this most enjoyable work! Indeed, he gives us “every good thing” we need to do his will! Engaging in a new feature of the work, perhaps one outside our comfort zone, helps us to build trust and faith in Jehovah, leading to greater spirituality. —Read 2 Corinthians 12:9, 10. ---

  19. WORLD CAMPAIGN ASKING FOR OUR PEOPLE WHO HAVE PATIENCE.... Numerous world events are developing at high speed. Some notably affect our people, as is persecution in Russia, among other countries. Numerous brothers and sisters wonder if all this is definitive fulfillment of prophecies. Until when, Jehovah? They begin to wonder. The reality is, that our slave always attentive to our spiritual needs, has prepared a number of the Watchtower with August, in which two articles are considered priority way ANIMING TO PATIENCE. We must be willing to have patience waiting for SAFE JEHOVAH'S INTERVENTION. It may surprise us, that the slave is waiting for Jehovah to do THINGS WE DO NOT EXPECT. We know, it will work for us. The slave warns that Jehovah will OFFEND him, let us wait reluctantly, complaining that it is taking too long. World rulers feel secure in attacking our people because they do not see Jehovah anywhere. But Jehovah rejected Saul when he had been a little more than two years as king, but allowed him to continue to rule until he died, 38 years later. Why do you allow brothers to suffer persecution as in Russia? The apostle Paul, being in the city of Troas, was moved to go to Macedonia to preach. Paul obeyed immediately, seeing that it was the will of Jehovah. But nothing more to get, they put him in jail. Paul evidently felt as confused as ours in Russia. But something was achieved FUNDAMENTAL IN THE WORK: "to defend and establish legally the good news," Philippians 1: 7 The slave announces: WE DO NOT KNOW, WHAT JEHOVAH SHALL DO. Remember, I was more times writing similar to you. But the most were only smiling and written any Bible scriptures...
