El verdadero conocimiento se hará abundante (Dan. 12:4). http://wol.jw.org/es/wol/dt/r4/lp-s/2016/12/25 Durante siglos, el clero de la cristiandad se opuso a que la gente leyera la Biblia, y hasta fue responsable de la muerte de algunos que la tradujeron. No obstante, a lo largo del siglo diecinueve, las sociedades bíblicas publicaron la Biblia —completa o en parte— en unos cuatrocientos idiomas. Para finales de ese mismo siglo, muchas personas ya contaban con una, aunque no comprendían bien lo que enseñaba. Los siervos de Jehová sabían que predicar era su deber y nunca dejaron de enseñar lo que la Biblia dice. Al principio usaron y distribuyeron varias versiones bíblicas. Y desde 1950 han publicado la Traducción del Nuevo Mundo de las Santas Escrituras, completa o en parte, en más de ciento veinte idiomas. La edición revisada en inglés del 2013 de la Traducción del Nuevo Mundo es muy fácil de entender, por lo que se podrá traducir a más idiomas. Contar con una Biblia tan clara nos ayudará en la predicación. w15 15/2 4:3-5

During the 19th century, however, Bible societies made the Bible available, in whole or in part, in some 400 languages. By the end of that century, many people owned a Bible but lacked accurate knowledge of Scriptural teachings. The Bible Students knew that they had to preach, and they tirelessly explained what the Bible taught. In addition, Jehovah’s people have used and distributed various versions of the Bible. Since 1950, they have published the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures, in whole or in part, in over 120 languages. The 2013 English edition of the New World Translation will make the rendering of it into other languages less challenging. In turn, using a clear, easy-to-read Bible helps us to carry out our preaching work. w15 2/15 4:3-5

A raíz de eso, un total de 24.000 fueron ejecutados por Jehová. ¡Qué lástima! Tanto tiempo esperando recibir su herencia, y cuando están a punto de obtenerla, van y lo echan todo a perder. ¡Qué precio tan alto pagaron por caer en la tentación! (Núm. 25:1-5, 9.) Este ejemplo nos sirve de advertencia. Se escribió “para amonestación de nosotros a quienes los fines de los sistemas de cosas han llegado” (1 Cor. 10:6-11). Hoy, en la parte final de “los últimos días”, los siervos de Dios estamos a punto de entrar en el nuevo mundo (2 Tim. 3:1; 2 Ped. 3:13). Pero, por desgracia, algunos han bajado la guardia y han caído en la inmoralidad sexual. Ahora están sufriendo las dolorosas consecuencias de lo que han hecho, y si no se arrepienten, también arriesgan la vida que Jehová promete para el futuro. w15 15/1 4:1, 2

Imagine—the Israelites were so close to the realization of their long-awaited inheritance, yet they lost out on wonderful blessings because of succumbing to temptation. (Num. 25:1-5, 9) That disastrous example was recorded “for a warning to us upon whom the ends of the systems of things have come.” (1 Cor. 10:6-11) Now in the final part of “the last days,” God’s servants are on the threshold of a righteous new world. (2 Tim. 3:1; 2 Pet. 3:13) Sadly, though, some of Jehovah’s worshippers have let down their guard. They have been ensnared by immorality and have reaped the bitter consequences of immoral conduct. Such ones run the risk of losing out on eternal blessings. w15 1/15 4:1, 2

We can find Bible accounts of some who received a rich spiritual heritage but failed to appreciate it. That was true in the family of one prophet, Samuel, who served Jehovah from a young age and had a fine record with God. (1 Sam. 12:1-5) Samuel set an example that his sons, Joel and Abijah, would have done well to imitate. However, they did not appreciate this, and they turned out to be bad. The Bible record tells us that unlike their father, they “perverted justice.” (1 Sam. 8:1-5) It was similar with King Josiah’s sons. Josiah set a superb example in worshipping Jehovah. (2 Ki. 22:8; 23:2, 3, 12-15, 24, 25) Yet, when three of his sons and one grandson in time became kings, not one of them showed appreciation for what had been passed on to him. (2 Ki. 23:31-34; 24:8, 9, 18, 19) How sad to see that these men who had such a promising background and the opportunity to do what was right let it go to waste! w14 12/15 4:4-6, 8

Ese fue el caso de los hijos del profeta Samuel, quien sirvió a Jehová desde pequeño y siempre le fue fiel (1 Sam. 12:1-5). Samuel les dejó un excelente ejemplo a sus hijos, Joel y Abías, pero ellos no lo apreciaron, y se hicieron malos y corruptos. La Biblia dice que, a diferencia de su padre, ellos “pervertían el juicio” (1 Sam. 8:1-5). Algo parecido ocurrió en el caso de la familia del rey Josías, un excelente siervo de Dios (2 Rey. 22:8; 23:2, 3, 12-15, 24, 25). Tres de sus hijos y uno de sus nietos llegaron a ser reyes, pero ninguno demostró que apreciaba lo que él les había transmitido (2 Rey. 23:31-34; 24:8, 9, 18, 19). Todos estos hombres tuvieron la oportunidad de amar a Jehová y de hacer lo correcto pero, por desgracia, no la aprovecharon. w14 15/12 4:4-6, 8

¡Feliz es el pueblo cuyo Dios es Jehová! (Sal. 144:15.) http://wol.jw.org/es/wol/dt/r4/lp-s/2016/12/22 Unos cuatro mil años atrás, Jehová eligió a un grupo de personas para que fueran su pueblo. Abrahán, llamado “el padre de todos los que tienen fe”, era cabeza de una gran familia con cientos de sirvientes (Rom. 4:11; Gén. 14:14). De hecho, los gobernantes de Canaán lo consideraban “un principal poderoso” y lo trataban con respeto (Gén. 21:22; 23:6, nota). Jehová hizo un pacto, o acuerdo, con él y sus descendientes (Gén. 17:1, 2, 19). Le dijo: “Este es mi pacto que ustedes guardarán, entre yo y ustedes, incluso tu descendencia después de ti: Todo varón de ustedes tiene que ser circuncidado. Y [...] esto tiene que servir como señal del pacto entre yo y ustedes” (Gén. 17:10, 11). De ahí que Abrahán y todos los varones de su casa se circuncidaran (Gén. 17:24-27). La circuncisión era una señal que distinguía a los descendientes de Abrahán como el único pueblo que tenía una relación especial con Jehová. w14 15/11 4:2

Happy is the people whose God is Jehovah!—Ps. 144:15. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/dt/r1/lp-e/2016/12/22 As early as the 20th century B.C.E., Jehovah had a distinct people on earth. Abraham, called “the father of all those having faith,” was the head of a household numbering into the hundreds. (Rom. 4:11; Gen. 14:14) Rulers in Canaan considered him to be “a great chieftain” and treated him with respect. (Gen. 21:22; 23:6, ftn.) Jehovah made a covenant with Abraham and his descendants. (Gen. 17:1, 2, 19) God told Abraham: “This is my covenant between me and you, that you and your offspring after you will keep: Every male among you must get circumcised. . . . And it will serve as a sign of the covenant between me and you.” (Gen. 17:10, 11) Accordingly, Abraham and all the male members of his household were circumcised. (Gen. 17:24-27) Circumcision was a physical sign that distinguished Abraham’s descendants as the only people who were in a covenant relationship with Jehovah. w14 11/15 4:2
