O relato bíblico de Acã mostra como a ganância é poderosa. Note a rapidez com que a ganância de Acã se agravou. Ele disse: “Quando cheguei a ver no meio do despojo um manto oficial de Sinear, de bom aspecto, e duzentos siclos de prata e um lingote de ouro, cujo peso era de cinquenta siclos, então os desejei e os tomei.” Em vez de rejeitar o desejo errado, Acã, motivado por ganância, roubou aqueles objetos e os escondeu em sua tenda. Quando a transgressão de Acã veio à tona, Josué lhe disse que Jeová traria calamidade sobre ele. Acã e sua família foram apedrejados até a morte naquele mesmo dia. (Jos. 7:11, 21, 24, 25) A ganância é um perigo constante que pode nos enlaçar. Strzeżcie się wszelkiej zachłanności (Łuk. 12:15). Na początku chciwość może być ledwie zauważalna, ale jeśli ktoś jej nie poskramia, może się w nim szybko rozwinąć i go opanować. Jej potęgę ukazuje biblijna relacja o Achanie. Zwróć uwagę, jak szybko nastąpił u niego rozwój tej cechy. Achan powiedział: „Gdy zobaczyłem pośród łupu piękną urzędową szatę z Szinearu oraz dwieście sykli srebra i jedną złotą sztabę ważącą pięćdziesiąt sykli, zapragnąłem ich i je wziąłem”. Zamiast odrzucić złe pragnienie, Achan chciwie ukradł te rzeczy i ukrył je w swoim namiocie. Kiedy jego czyn wyszedł na jaw, Jozue zapowiedział, że Jehowa sprowadzi zagładę na Achana. Jeszcze tego samego dnia on i jego rodzina zostali ukamienowani (Joz. 7:11, 21, 24, 25). Wszechobecna chciwość zagraża także nam. Chociaż nieraz mogą się u nas pojawić niewłaściwe lub niemoralne myśli, to jednak musimy trzymać umysł w ryzach i nie pozwolić, by nasze pragnienia rozwinęły się do tego stopnia, że popełnimy grzech (Jak. 1:14, 15). w14 15.8 4:13

Quand sa faute a été dévoilée, Josué lui a dit que Jéhovah allait attirer l’ostracisme sur lui. Akân et sa famille ont été lapidés le jour même (Jos. 7:11, 21, 24, 25). L’avidité est un danger qui nous guette constamment. Όταν η αμαρτία του ήρθε στο φως, ο Ιησούς του Ναυή τού είπε ότι ο Ιεχωβά θα έφερνε πάνω του συμφορά. Την ίδια εκείνη μέρα, ο Αχάν και η οικογένειά του λιθοβολήθηκαν μέχρι θανάτου. (Ιησ. Ναυή 7:11, 21, 24, 25) Η απληστία είναι ένας κίνδυνος που μας απειλεί διαρκώς. Αν και μπορεί κατά καιρούς να κάνουμε κάποια ακατάλληλη σκέψη ή να φανταστούμε κάτι ανήθικο, είναι ζωτικό να θέτουμε υπό έλεγχο τη διάνοιά μας και να μην αφήνουμε τις επιθυμίες μας να κλιμακώνονται εξωθώντας μας στην αμαρτία.—Ιακ. 1:14, 15. w14 15/8 4:13

Wozu Habgier jemand bringen kann, sieht man am Beispiel Achans. Beachten wir, wie schnell seine Habgier wuchs. Er sagte: „Als ich unter der Beute ein gut aussehendes Amtsgewand aus Schinar zu sehen bekam und zweihundert Schekel Silber und einen Goldbarren, fünfzig Schekel sein Gewicht, da begehrte ich sie, und ich nahm sie.“ Statt seine verkehrten Wünsche zu verwerfen, stahl Achan diese Dinge und versteckte sie in seinem Zelt. Als Achans Sünde ans Licht kam, sagte Josua zu ihm, Jehova würde ihn in Verruf bringen. Noch am selben Tag wurden Achan und seine Angehörigen gesteinigt (Jos. 7:11, 21, 24, 25). Habsucht ist eine allgegenwärtige Gefahr, die uns einholen kann. Gelegentlich mögen zwar schlechte Gedanken und unmoralische Vorstellungen bei uns aufkommen, doch dann gilt es, Herr über seine eigenen Gedanken zu werden und nicht zuzulassen, dass unsere Wünsche ausufern, bis wir schließlich eine Sünde begehen (Jak. 1:14, 15). w14 15. 8. 4:13

Guard against every sort of greed.—Luke 12:15. Greed may start small, but if it is not curbed, it can grow rapidly and overcome a person. The Bible account of Achan illustrates the power of greed. Note how quickly Achan’s greed progressed. He stated: “When I saw among the spoil a good-looking official garment from Shinar and 200 shekels of silver and one gold bar weighing 50 shekels, I desired them, so I took them.” Instead of rejecting the wrong desire, Achan greedily stole the goods and hid them in his tent. When Achan’s wrongdoing came to light, Joshua told him that Jehovah would bring disaster upon him. Achan and his family were stoned to death on that very day. (Josh. 7:11, 21, 24, 25) Greed is an ever-present danger that can overtake us. While we may occasionally have an unwholesome thought or imagine immoral things, it is vital that we bring our mind under control and not allow our desires to escalate to the point that we commit a sin.—Jas. 1:14, 15. w14 8/15 4:13

Thus, being hated for bearing Jehovah’s name is the same as “being reproached for the name of [Jesus] Christ,” who said to his opposers: “I have come in the name of my Father, but you do not receive me.” (John 5:43) So the next time you experience opposition in your witnessing work, take courage. Such mistreatment is proof that you have God’s smile of approval and that his spirit “is resting upon you.” At the same time, remember that fine increases are being enjoyed in many parts of the world. w14 7/15 4:14-16
