No te dejaré (2 Rey. 2:2). Hace unos tres mil años, el profeta Elías invitó a Eliseo a convertirse en su ayudante. El joven aceptó sin dudarlo y estuvo dispuesto a realizar tareas humildes para el profeta (2 Rey. 3:11). Después de unos seis años, Eliseo ya estaba bien capacitado. Entonces se enteró de que la labor de su amo en Israel estaba a punto de terminar. Pero aunque Elías le pidió que dejara de seguirlo, Eliseo estaba decidido a quedarse junto a su maestro todo el tiempo posible. Si eres un hermano joven, ¿cómo puedes imitar a Eliseo? Aceptando de buena gana cualquier tarea que te encarguen, aunque sea humilde. Viendo a tu maestro como un amigo y diciéndole que agradeces mucho sus esfuerzos. Pero sobre todo, cumpliendo sin falta tus tareas. ¿Por qué? He bajado para hacer, no la voluntad mía, sino la voluntad del que me ha enviado (Juan 6:38). Imagínate que un amigo te regala un automóvil. Te entrega los papeles y te dice: “Me quedo con las llaves. Yo lo conduciré”. ¿Cómo te sentirías? Ahora piensa en lo que espera Jehová de una persona que se dedica a él y que le dice: “Te entrego mi vida, te pertenezco a ti”. ¿Y si esa persona comienza a llevar una doble vida? Quizás empieza a salir con alguien que no sirve a Jehová. ¿O qué tal si acepta un empleo que le roba el tiempo que debería dedicar a la predicación y las reuniones? Eso sería como quedarse con las llaves, por decirlo así. Pero la persona que se ha dedicado a Jehová le ha dicho: “Mi vida es más tuya que mía, y cada vez que tenga que escoger entre hacer lo que yo quiero y lo que tú quieres... tú ganarás”. If you are a young brother, how can you imitate Elisha today? Promptly accept assignments, including humble tasks. View your teacher as a friend, and let him know how much you appreciate the effort he makes in your behalf. Above all, be faithful in carrying out any assignment you are given. Why is this so important? I have come... to do, not my own will, but the will of him who sent me.—John 6:38. Imagine that a friend gives you a car as a gift. He hands you the title and says: “I will keep the keys. And I will be the one who drives the car, not you.” How would you feel? Now think about what Jehovah rightfully expects of a person who makes a dedication to him, a person who tells him: “I am giving you my life. I belong to you.” What if that person were to start living a double life, perhaps secretly dating an unbeliever? What if he were to accept employment that crippled his whole-souled service in the ministry or attendance at Christian meetings? Would that not be like keeping the keys to the car? A person who dedicates himself to Jehovah is, in effect, saying: “My life belongs to you more than to me. La intimidad con Jehová pertenece a los que le temen (Sal. 25:14). Abrahán es el único hombre al que la Biblia llama amigo de Dios (2 Crón. 20:7, nota; Is. 41:8; Sant. 2:23). ¿Qué quiere decir eso? ¿Que ninguna otra persona en la historia ha tenido una amistad con el Creador? El apóstol Pablo habló de una gran “nube de testigos” compuesta de toda clase de personas que sin duda disfrutaron de una relación muy cercana con Dios (Heb. 12:1). Estuve alegre delante de él todo el tiempo (Prov. 8:30). Jesús trabajó muy contento al lado de Dios, feliz por sus logros y por sentir el cariño de su Padre. ¿Qué se puede decir de nosotros? Jesús dijo que dar y recibir nos hace felices (Hech. 20:35). Por ejemplo, cuando conocimos la verdad nos sentimos muy contentos. Y compartirla ahora con la gente también nos alegra. Muchas personas desean conocer a Dios y comienzan a estudiar. Poco a poco van entendiendo y valorando lo que aprenden. Su forma de pensar y de vivir cambia. ¿Verdad que eso nos hace felices?
