Por ejemplo, cuando conocimos la verdad nos sentimos muy contentos. Y compartirla ahora con la gente también nos alegra. Muchas personas desean conocer a Dios y comienzan a estudiar. Poco a poco van entendiendo y valorando lo que aprenden. Su forma de pensar y de vivir cambia. ¿Verdad que eso nos hace felices? Está claro que la predicación es muy importante, pues le da a la gente la oportunidad de reconciliarse con Dios y vivir para siempre (2 Cor. 5:20). ¿Acaso existe otro trabajo que produzca más satisfacciones? w16.01 5:6, 7

En la Palabra de Dios hay muchas historias de hombres y mujeres que tuvieron temor de Jehová, pusieron fe en él y llegaron a ser sus amigos íntimos. El apóstol Pablo habló de una gran “nube de testigos” compuesta de toda clase de personas que sin duda disfrutaron de una relación muy cercana con Dios (Heb. 12:1). Ellos consiguieron la maravillosa amistad del Creador. ¡Qué excelentes ejemplos de fe para nosotros! (Heb. 6:11, 12). Seremos semejantes a él, porque lo veremos tal como él es (1 Juan 3:2).
¿Le gusta predicar más que a la mayoría de los hermanos? ¿Es un excelente estudiante de la Biblia y le encanta aprender “hasta las cosas profundas de Dios”? (1 Cor. 2:10). ¿Le parece que Jehová ha bendecido su ministerio de manera especial? ¿Siente un fuego interior que lo impulsa a servirle con todo su ser? ¿Le tiene tanto cariño a la gente que desea ayudarla de toda manera posible a conocer a Dios? ¿Puede demostrar que Jehová ha intervenido directamente en su vida? Si su respuesta a estas preguntas es “sí”, ¿significa que ha sido ungido por Dios? No. ¿Cómo lo sabemos? Porque no solo a los ungidos les pasan estas cosas. El espíritu santo puede actuar con la misma fuerza en todos los cristianos, sea que vayan a vivir en el cielo o en la Tierra. En realidad, si usted tiene dudas, no es ungido. w16.01 3:14, 15

Close friendship with Jehovah belongs to those who fear him.—Ps. 25:14.
Three times the Bible identifies Abraham as God’s friend. (2 Chron. 20:7; Isa. 41:8; Jas. 2:23) In fact, that faithful man is the only person specifically referred to that way in the Bible. Should we assume, then, that Abraham was the only human ever to become Jehovah’s friend? No, for the Bible shows that friendship with God is something that each of us can attain. God’s Word teems with accounts of faithful men and women who feared Jehovah, put faith in him, and became his close friends. The apostle Paul wrote of “a great cloud of witnesses,” all of whom surely were God’s friends. (Heb. 12:1) Among them we find a delightful variety of people. They have enjoyed the wonderful privilege of being friends of God. May we continue to imitate such examples of faith. (Heb. 6:11, 12) As we do so, we may be assured of a great reward—being Jehovah’s close friends forever! w16.02 2:1, 2, 19

Jesus joyfully worked alongside his Father, rejoicing both in what he accomplished and in the knowledge that Jehovah was fond of him. What, though, about us? Jesus said that there is happiness both in giving and in receiving. (Acts 20:35) It brought us joy to receive the truth, and it brings us joy to share the truth with others. As we share Bible truths with others, we see spiritually hungry ones filled with delight as they begin to understand and appreciate our God and the precious truths contained in his Word. It touches our heart to see them make changes not just in their thinking but also in their way of life. We realize that the work of sharing the good news is vitally important. It opens the way to everlasting life for those who become reconciled to God. (2 Cor. 5:20) What more joyful, satisfying work could we engage in than that of helping people chart a course that will result in their living forever? w16.01 5:6, 7

Königreichssaal der Zeugen Jehovas
Neubau in Zuffenhausen genehmigt.
 An der Schwieberdinger Straße will die Religionsgemeinschaft der Zeugen Jehovas ein neues Versammlungsgebäude erstellen. Das Baurechtsamt hat dem Antrag bereits zugestimmt. Auch die Firma Porsche hat einen Teil zu dem Vorhaben beigetragen.
Zuffenhausen - Die Abbruchbagger haben ganze Arbeit geleistet. Von den Gebäuden des ehemaligen Holz- und Kunststoffhändlers ZEG an der Schwieberdinger Straße 26 steht kein Stein mehr auf dem anderen. Der Asphalt ist abgetragen, die Fundamente sind herausgemeißelt und abtransportiert. In den vergangenen Tagen waren die Arbeiter vor allem damit beschäftigt, tonnenweise Schotter auf dem Gelände zu verteilen und ihn mit Planierraupen und Walzen zu verdichten.
Auf dem rund 2800 Quadratmeter großen Grundstück planen die Zeugen Jehovas den Neubau ihres Versammlungsgebäudes. Jochen Feßenbecker, Sprecher der Glaubensgemeinschaft, beschreibt das Bauprojekt: „Der Neubau des Königreichssaals befindet sich als solitärer Stadtbaukörper an der Schwieberdinger Straße auf Flucht der bestehenden Bebauung.“ Im Gebäude ist ein Foyer, drei Auditorien mit insgesamt 320 Sitzplätzen vorgesehen, zwei davon haben zuschaltbare kleine Säle. Außerdem soll es zwei kleine Besprechungs- und Nebenräume geben.
Architektonisch eher Schulungsgebäude als Kirche
Das „klare, moderne Gebäude zeichnet durch großzügige Fenster und verbindende Paneelen in einem warmen Ton aus Holzschichtstoffen die inneren Versammlungsräume und das Foyer nach, die das Zentrum des Königreichssaals darstellen“, teilt Feßenbecker mit. „Die klare Struktur der Fassade findet sich konsequent im Grundriss wieder. Die Auditorien und das Foyer flankieren den Erschließungskern in der Mitte, in welchem die Nebenräume angeordnet sind.“
Das Kirchengebäude gleiche aus architektonischer Sicht und auch der Nutzung betreffend eher einem Schulungsgebäude. „Die Innenräume sind modern und funktional gestaltet und enthalten keine liturgischen Objekte“, so Feßenbecker. „Auch gibt es bei Königreichssälen von Jehovas Zeugen grundsätzlich keine Kirchenglocken.“
Wenn das Projekt so weitergeht wie geplant, dann soll mit dem Bau im dritten Quartal 2018 begonnen werden. „Wir gehen von einer Bauzeit von sechs Monaten aus“, sagt der Sprecher der Zeugen Jehovas. Demnach wäre mit einer Fertigstellung im Frühjahr 2019 zu rechnen. Dann soll es auch einen Tag der offenen Tür geben.
Grundstück an der Otto-Dürr-Straße getauscht
Das Königreichssaalgebäude soll von mehreren Versammlungen (Gemeinden) genutzt werden. „Jede Versammlung hat zweimal pro Woche Gottesdienste, einen am Wochenende und einen unter der Woche“, so der Sprecher. Diese fänden über die Woche verteilt statt, um „eine schonende Nutzung zu gewährleisten und damit sich der Ziel- und Quellverkehr in einem angemessenen Rahmen bewegt“. Die genaue Belegung stehe noch nicht fest. Bekannt ist hingegen die Zahl der Stellplätze auf dem Gelände: 58 Stück werden es sein. Das sei ausreichend. Außerdem befinde sich die S-Bahnhaltestelle am Bahnhof Zuffenhausen in unmittelbarer Nähe. Eine Anreise mit dem ÖPNV sei also sehr gut möglich.
Früher hatten die Zeugen Jehovas ihre Gottesdienste an der Otto-Dürr-Straße in der Nähe des Porsche-Werks gefeiert. Im Rahmen der Erweiterung des Stammwerks der Porsche AG in Zuffenhausen war der Sportwagenbauer an die Zeugen Jehovas herangetreten und hatte ihnen im Tausch das Grundstück an der Schwieberdinger Straße angeboten. Die Porsche AG besitzt in der Nachbarschaft des geplanten Neubaus weitere Flächen.

NEW YORK (AP) — Michu Meszaros, a former circus performer who played "ALF" in the popular NBC sitcom, has died, according to his manager, Dennis Varga.
Meszaros, who died Sunday, had been rushed to a Los Angeles hospital several days ago after he was found unresponsive in his home, and had been in a coma since. He was 76.
Born in Budapest, Hungary, he stood less than 3 feet tall and since his teens had performed in numerous circuses, including the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus.
He had also appeared in films, including Big Top Pee-wee and Freaked, as well as on TV. He was best known costumed as the extraterrestrial title character of ALF, which aired from 1986 to 1990. (Otherwise, ALF was a puppet operated and voiced by Paul Fusco.)
