[Abigail] was discerning and beautiful.—1 Sam. 25:3.
Abigail was a noteworthy woman who lived in the 11th century B.C.E. She had discernment, whereas her husband, Nabal, was harsh, worthless, and senseless. David and his men protected Nabal’s possessions for a time, but when they asked for provisions, he “screamed insults at them” and gave them nothing. This angered David so much that he planned to do away with Nabal and his men. Hearing about this, Abigail took food and drink to David and his men, thereby preventing bloodshed. (1 Sam. 25:8-18) David later said to her: “Praise Jehovah the God of Israel, who sent you this day to meet me!” (1 Sam. 25:32) In 455 B.C.E., among those who helped to repair the walls of Jerusalem were the daughters of Shallum, a prince of half the district of Jerusalem.) (Neh. 3:12 They willingly did menial work. How we appreciate the many Christian women who joyfully support theocratic building projects in various ways today! w14 8/15 1:13, 14

Queen Esther reacted to DLL in 107 Columbia Heights Brooklyn, New York, USA
I was invited to Bethel in the fall of 1971.  I arrived on a rainy Sunday, October 10 and unloaded right in front of 107.  I had never been east of Milwaukee WI; grew up in rural areas of southeastern Minnesota, so needless to say this was quite an experience for a 20 year old kid. Right away I was so impressed with the beautiful gardens.  I recall in November there were still roses in bloom - a great contrast to the frozen wastelands of the north where I grew up.  The gardens were a real oasis to us.  I was assigned to live in room 750 in 107 with another brother who had served almost 4 years.  This was a corner room on the corner of Columbia Heights and Orange Street that was high enough to look out into the harbor and see Manhattan, etc.  He left Bethel and I went to the Towers Hotel for a few months where lots of new boys lived - the Society was only leasing 3 or 4 floors there at the time. Then my overseer in the factory invited me to room with him back in 107 - this time room 950.  I remember meeting Maxwell and Irma Friend in the 107 elevator.  They were very gracious. Brother Friend said in his heavy accent "We work so hard at Bethel and have so much to do that we also sleep 60 miles per hour at night."  The commissary was in the basement of 107 and I loved all the tunnels especially when the weather was bad.  The Monday night WT study was held in the 107 Kingdom Hall and broadcast on TV in various dining rooms.  I still remember going early and meeting older single brothers of the anointed who were often there early as well and loved to visit and tell their stories of decades past.

Queen Esther reacted to JW Insider in 107 Columbia Heights Brooklyn, New York, USA
Met some of my very best friends in this building. I went to the Kingdom Hall here (1976-1980), and had the 'Book Study' down the block at the brownstone of a Witness family. (They also had a house in the Hamptons, where I learned to water ski. I met some great friends of theirs through whom I even met my wife!!)
Although I had a beautiful room in the corner of the Towers Hotel, I decided to move down to the room next door to the Gilead Library on the 3rd floor. Most of the floor was reserved for Gilead Students, and this was a great group to study with. I often spent nearly the entire night in the Gilead Library, so this new room was perfect. Another brother had also given me 24 access to his office library which was just one floor away downstairs. (I'm still the kind of nerd who dreams of living in a library.)
Another memory is the one night that the Hotel Margaret, next door, burned down in a 5-alarm blaze when the weather was so cold that the firetrucks tried to spray it with water but ended up spraying it with "snow." I was on the third floor, but some of the windows on the first and second floor (Service Department) were either broken or had holes in them from melting.

Queen Esther reacted to Melinda Mills in Can the Devil Control Humans?
Satan controls humans, but not all are helpless; true Christians can conquer. They learn now to fight against him and come under the  influence of the holy spirit so they can conquer and be saved. See scriptures below:
(1 John 5:19) We know that we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.

(Romans 12:3)  And stop being molded by this system of things, but be transformed by making your mind over, so that you may prove to yourselves the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
(Luke 4:6) Then the Devil said to him: “I will give you all this authority and their glory, because it has been handed over to me, and I give it to whomever I wish.
(Matthew 13:19) Where anyone hears the word of the Kingdom but does not get the sense of it, the wicked one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart; this is the one sown alongside the road.

(2 Corinthians 4:4) among whom the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through.

(Ephesians 2:1-5) 2 Furthermore, [it is] YOU [God made alive] though YOU were dead in YOUR trespasses and sins, 2 in which YOU at one time walked according to the system of things of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, the spirit that now operates in the sons of disobedience. 3 Yes, among them we all at one time conducted ourselves in harmony with the desires of our flesh, doing the things willed by the flesh and the thoughts, and we were naturally children of wrath even as the rest. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, 5 made us alive together with the Christ, even when we were dead in trespasses—by undeserved kindness YOU have been saved. . .

(Ephesians 6:10-13) 10 Finally, go on acquiring power in the Lord and in the mightiness of his strength. 11 Put on the complete suit of armor from God so that you may be able to stand firm against the crafty acts of the Devil; 12 because we have a struggle, not against blood and flesh, but against the governments, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the wicked spirit forces in the heavenly places. 13 For this reason take up the complete suit of armor from God, so that you may be able to resist in the wicked day and, after you have accomplished everything, to stand firm.

Jesus spoke to the crowds by illustrations.—Matt. 13:34.
Simple illustrations are often the best kind to use. For example, when explaining to a householder that God is superior to Jesus, we can mention that both God and Jesus used a family reference when describing their relationship. God referred to Jesus as his Son, and Jesus spoke of God as his Father. (Luke 3:21, 22; John 14:28) Next, we might ask: “If you wanted to teach me that two people are equal, what type of family relationship would you use to illustrate the point?” The person may mention siblings—even twins. If he does, we could point out how natural that comparison seems to be. Then we might ask: “If you and I could come up with this illustration so readily, would not Jesus—the Great Teacher—have thought of the same comparison? Instead, he spoke of God as being his Father. Jesus thus portrayed God as being older and having more authority than he had.” w14 5/15 1:12, 13

Many are the hardships of the righteous one, but Jehovah rescues him from them all.—Ps. 34:19.
Because we know that our loving God is always ready to help those who are faithful to him, we feel secure as part of ‘the flock of his pasture.’ (Ps. 79:13) Moreover, God’s love for us will be evident in what he will accomplish in our behalf through the Messianic Kingdom. After his chosen King, Jesus Christ, rids the earth of violence, oppression, and wickedness, obedient mankind will be blessed with lasting peace and prosperity. (Ps. 72:7, 12-14, 16) Right now, however, Jehovah has favored us with the priceless privilege of serving as his Witnesses. (Isa. 43:10-12) We love God for granting us this opportunity to support his sovereignty and to bring true hope to people in this troubled world. Moreover, we can speak with faith and conviction because we are declaring good news based on the Word of the true God, whose hope-inspiring promises never fail.—Josh. 21:45; 23:14. w14 6/15 1:13, 14

The eyes of Jehovah are roving about through all the earth to show his strength in behalf of those whose heart is complete toward him.—2 Chron. 16:9.
Jehovah is intensely interested in those who belong to him. Therefore, we can have absolute confidence that what we do for Jehovah “out of a clean heart” is never in vain. (1 Tim. 1:5; 1 Cor. 15:58) It is also sobering to know that Jehovah does not tolerate hypocritical worship. As his eyes “are roving about through all the earth,” he can detect those whose heart is not “complete toward him.” “Jehovah detests a devious person,” says Proverbs 3:32, such as one who deliberately puts up a front, feigning obedience while practicing sin in secret. Although a devious person may skillfully deceive other humans for a while, Jehovah’s almightiness and righteousness guarantee that “the one covering over his transgressions will not succeed.”—Prov. 28:13; 1 Tim. 5:24; Heb. 4:13. w14 7/15 1:13, 14

28:13· 1 Τιμ. 5:24· Εβρ. 4:13. w14 15/7 1:13, 14
