I will have to agree with Billy on THAT one.
We should be very suspicious of any individual or group of people who assume controlling religious authority.
Hmmmm... why does that sound so familiar?

I would just like to remind you that until Jehovah God "overthrew" and replaced the old Jewish System, Jesus HIMSELF commended the unnamed widow for supporting the corrupt system that they all had to endure.
Jehovah had his Son fully submissive to the "old system" of governance ... and until Jehovah overthrows the CURRENT system (and there is nobody on Earth that can disfellowship the Governing Body) ... Jehovah's Witnesses are "The Only Game In Town".
Jehovah set the example of doing what he could... with what he had to work with.

There is a difference between a mathematician, and a moron.
At least, with numbers, you can PROVE what is true.

Well ... you DID specifically ask for my opinion .....

This a ridiculous assumption. There are several Glossaries available. This particular one appears not to follow the general principle that a Glossary is normally a list of terms and concepts. So what? There is nothing significant about this.

What purpose does this supposed shepherd need to know the vacation plans in the first place? My own parents do not request such things, and I'm pretty sure their concern for my well being is much more warranted. Of course Tom, I know you request this of your family, right?

James Thomas Rook Jr. reacted to TrueTomHarley in The ultimate insult: Grieving mother who lost her 20-year-old son to suicide finds a Jehovah's Witness pamphlet about eternal life on her boy's grave
Is it overzealous and crass? Of course. You never know the emotional state of grieving persons. But overzealous and crass people are to be found everywhere and we all must deal with them
Still, nobody seems overly concerned about it other than Jack and his co-irreligionist.

My guess is that 8 out of 10 people would roll their eyes at this and dismiss it as well-meaning but the work of somewhat kooky people. 1 out 10 would actually appreciate it, for it is not as though the question is irrelevant. For the sake of the remaining 1 out of 10, deeply grieving who will take it wrong—perhaps atheists, which anyone has the right to be—one ought not do it—blanketing the cemetery.
However, I have obtained a rare copy of the Ryan Bible Translation that addresses some of Jack’s concerns.
”Jesus said: “Roll away that stone.” Mary was offended that he should have the nerve to prey on her when she was emotionally vulnerable...
With that, they rolled it away. Jesus peered inside, shrugged, and said to Mary: “Sorry about your loss.”
It is all very well for you to renounce God, Jack, That doesn’t mean that the whole wide world must do it also. It is as though he would chastise Ponce de Leon for searching for the fountain of youth. The idiot. Why didn’t he search for the fountain of death instead?

Some people will always live in a fantasy construct, made of words.
When I was a small boy for me it was Superman Comics, and TV show.  I would wear a towel as a cape, fastened with a clothes pin, and look for things to jump off of,
One time I jumped off a back yard furnace oil tank, into a pile of broken cola bottles, barefooted.
My Uncle tightly rolled me up in a blanket to extract the glass from my bloodied, lacerated feet.
I hope that Billy's continuous leaping to agenda driven conclusions will not be as bloodied, or as painful, as my experience.

No... my statement was EXACTLY correct.
You are, as you do with defending the indefensible about Watchtower Policy, making excuses as to why Thomas Jefferson is NOT a hypocrite.
    He was.
    PERIOD.
    .  <----------- (period)
The reason BOTH are hypocrites, is that Thomas Jefferson wanted to keep his money and status, and the Watchtower wants to keep its money and status, and BOTH have twisted what they knew to be true to keep their money and status.
Accountants and lawyers are now running the WTB&TS, and creating "theocratic policy" ... and their life blood, and mother's milk ......
    .....   is money and status.
I did give that some thought as I dropped a check into the Kingdom Hall contribution box last weekend .... but I marked it "for local needs".
The difference is that I am fully aware I am rationalizing .... but I don't know what else to do.

I guess that makes THREE hypocrites ... Thomas Jefferson, the WTB&TS .... and me.

Good question .... and the answer should use some common sense in addition to being provable.
OTHERWISE, the answer will have no value whatsoever.
    ..... merely someone's opinion.

@TrueTomHarley  I remember a case of a brother being reproved from the platform, and as it happens he had previously visited my wife and I, with his wife, to tell us that he was about to be reproved. He had been out with a group of brothers, one of them being an elder, they had gone into Exeter and he had got drunk and been sick on the train home, as he wasn't used to 'going out drinking'.
One almost funny point though not important, the elder was on holiday overseas when this brother was reproved, so the elder was well out of the way and not involved. But my point is that only a few of us in the congregation knew why this brother was being reproved.
The point of that article is that, most people in a congregation DO NOT KNOW WHY THE PERSON IS REPROVED...
Therefore it is not a protection to those who do not know the 'sin committed'.
I remember a tiny bit of scripture whereby the apostle Paul is counselling congregation because a member of said congregation was  having sex with his father's wife. 1 Corinthians 5 v1 & 2
Actually sexual immorality is reported among you, and such immorality as is not even found among the nations—of a man living with his father’s wife. And are you proud of it? Should you not rather mourn, so that the man who committed this deed should be taken away from your midst?
If Paul wasn't frightened to mention the deed and the man then why should the Org be frightened of it ?
I fully agree with @James Thomas Rook Jr. when he says :-
" Having the very best of intentions, and being righteously inclined DOES NOT COUNT if the administrators are policy wonks who are also clueless and self-serving.
and. "Policy is one thing ..... reality is quite another."
I cannot understand why the GB /Org does not announce fully the reason for reproval and reason for disfellowshipping alongwith the person's name..
It would seem worse to me to reprove a person and not give a reason as then the congregants are left being suspicious of the person that was reproved.
Tom, you and Space Merchant and a few others seem to believe that just because a 'policy' is written down, that it will always be adhered to. Let's hear it again JTR Jr
"Policy is one thing ..... reality is quite another."

Seems that a glossary differs from an encyclopedia in that it is an alphabetical list of terms. Biographical information is only included when it is relevant to explaining the use of what might be considered a personal name in a terminological sense. For example some background biogaphy is necessary to understand the use of the name "Jacob" as a term for the nation descended from him.
Terms such as Christ, Christian, Chief Agent, Firstborn etc are defined as they are terms. The name Jehovah is viewed by some as a term not having personal significance. That is clarified in this glossary.
There is no need do do the same for the personal name of God's Son, Jesus, as his name has not become a "term" in the sense of being  "a word or phrase used to describe a thing or to express a concept".
If this was a Glossary relating to the Roman Catolic Church, then there might be a case for including the name as it relates to the term "Jesuit". Or indeed the word "Trinity" as it relates to the peculiar concept of the nature of God held by many members of that denomination. Of course, these terms have no relevance whatsoever to the Holy Scriptures.
