No - Jehovah allowed it in Mosaic law because the Israelites were so hard hearted.... but Christians had to follow the standard set in Eden. They used this certificate to divorce wives on any small pretext - even leaving older wives for young ones. They abused this provision.
They cut private parts of young girls in our so-called modern society.  The law case against the doctor in USA was thrown out of court.  Thousands of young girls in Africa and even in USA are subjected to this - which makes them vulnerable to all kinds of sicknesses - not to mention the life threat and pain to having sex and child birth. This is happening right now with permission of most governments.
Savagery in war has been with mankind forever.   Some scalped, some shrunk and kept the heads of victims. Less than 400 years ago in Europe they used to hang and quarter people - let their entrails hang out......put their heads on pikes for weeks.  I will not go into the other gruesome things that humans can think up.  In Zaire in 1972 they put barbwire up JWs  backsides and screwed it around so their intestines break up and they die a most painful and slow death..... you want to know about more details?   I can tell you some gruesome things which Africans and also ISIS are still doing in Africa and in the Syria war...... you will not sleep for a week.
So cutting off foreskins as proof of activity after persons were dead and cannot feel pain is merciful.  For more civilized people today this is very distasteful BUT remember this:   the germans were very civilized nation - and look what atrocities they got up to during WW2. The Japannese as well.  Look what people did to each other during hurricane Katrina a few years back..... bring bad situations and peoples true colors come out.   Most people are capable of horrible things when they do not believe that Jehovah can see them.
Jehovah's people are now being prepared for a time of anarchy so they do not participate in this kind of stuff during Armageddon and so keep Jehovah's approval.
Israel had laws and were not allowed to do certain things in battle which other nations practiced.  They did not flay people and cut off body parts as the assyrians did.  They did not cut off all the fruit trees and stop up water holes etc.  Jehovah did teach them mercy and justice.

Again I urge you to study a little ancient history to see what practices were prevalent in those days 3000 years ago.  We cannot compare our ideas of how society should function to those days.  One must view history in context of the period.  For instance - People underestimated the power of  radio technology which helped to program an entire nation into Nazism.
You forget that David also did not have only one wife and he was also  given"  a wife - Saul's daughter - which was a most common practice in most kingly families. For example it was practice for the pharoahs to  marry their own sisters.
When the pharisees challenged Jesus on the divorce certificates,  Jesus replied that Jehovah made only one wife for Adam and intended it to last forever but said that " due to your hard heartedness, 'Moses' allowed this practice. Matthew 19. This is key - under moses they still were allowed more than one wife but this will soon cha ge. Israel had to be made ready for the next set of principles taught by Jesus - not laws- which liberated them as individuals.
Remember that the law wers only a "tutor" until christ. Teaching israel right from wrong....... something which other nations did not have.  For example the pagans practiced spiritism which included oracles in many forms, spells, talking to the dead, magic, marrying children and burning their own children.
When christ came he taught his dedicated nation even  more  advanced standards such as loving an enemy, having one wife, self-sacrifice and more behaviours which gave individual responsibility coupled with more freedom. Christs disciples refused to go to war and serve in armies.  But israel before them were allowed to protect themselves and on one occasion made pre-emptive war.
Israel fought for the promised land - but they had to fight for it and trust in God to assist them. 430 years before that God had promised abraham they will acquire this land but not before the wicked people who were living there fulfilled the requirement for being taken off the land by war. Israel carried out gods will - they did not rape women or act unjust in war as other nations did.
You forget that Israel was under terrible oppression in the time of Saul by the Philistines. Goliath was one of them.  They were in constant war. To ask David to get foreskins was basically a death sentence because the opposition was always prepared for war.  Saul was a wicked king by this time and later went to the witch of Endor to speak to the dead.
David had to show courage similar to Samson who also harassed the oppressive philistines.  The philistines were a powerful nation who also burned their children in fire.
David had to do battle for the foreskins against hardened soldiers.   If you read any history you will understand that mankind has been at constant warfare and slavery since Cain killed Abel.
A few years of rest and then at war again.  Most philosophers are saying that another world war is now overdue.... .  But as you know- when the world leaders call out that they have attained " peace and security" then armageddon will be on its way.
Then injustice, oppression and war will only be a history of the past. Under Jehovahs government there will be true peace and security.

Always the OCD.  You want to rule and teach right now do you?   A woman?  You do not want to wait until the time for this comes?   You conveniently forget that arrogantly pushing ahead is a sin?
You never explain what is the role of elders!   Because you feel that you should be doing their job and they are oppressing you - the true anointed who is higher than they are ?
We all know that Jesus was "appointed"  as judge - so in effect jehovah is judging.
Throughout the 2 millenia there have been anointed but it is only in connection with the "presence"  in last days that a slave is mentioned.

Arauna reacted to TrueTomHarley in Two Verses for the Dysfunctional Family
A recent circuit overseer spoke about how Jehovah has gathered people into one “large, unified, happy, somewhat dysfunctional family.” “Dysfunctional” is the key. Nobody of Jehovah’s Witnesses would say that they are not. It is still head-and-shoulders above the greater world, which is not described as a family at all, and when it is, it is only by the most ridiculous exaggeration. The governor of New York State has been known to refer to “the family of New York.” It is a tough sell. One “family member” wins the Nobel Prize. Another family member gets life in prison for knifing his fellow family member to death.
Jehovah’s Witnesses are very much a counseling organization, taking a cue from verses such as Proverbs 22:17—“Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise ones, that you may apply your very heart to my knowledge.” God though his written book counsels us. Christ counsels his disciples. Elders, as shepherds in the congregations, counsel the flock. Parents counsel their children. Older men counsel younger men. Older women counsel younger women. It can even work in reverse, as when young Elihu counsels the three men each old enough to be his father. It is all based on God’s message and it all stems from the fact that when we draw close to God, it is not he that is going to benefit from our example—it is we that is going to benefit from his.
The trouble is, the only ones who give the exactly correct counsel at just the right time and to just the right degree are God and Christ Jesus. Everyone else misses the mark—sometimes by a mile. Usually the counsel itself is not wrong, but it may be too strong, too irrelevant, too clumsily stated, too diluted by our own imperfect example, and so forth. Everybody feels free to have a go at it, and Anthony Morris has described the challenge of making your magazine presentation with a critic by your side.
Also, it is extremely difficult to counsel a worldwide body of people, as the Governing Body does. One person says: “Thank’s for the new RULE!” and his neighbor says: “Huh? Did you say something?” Finding just the right balance is tough. Where they are strong, it is because they don’t want to find themselves in the shoes of Lot—whose son-in-laws thought he was joking. They take their shepherding role seriously.
At an elder school I attended—for at one time I was one—an instructor led around a string on a table with forefinger firmly applied to one end. “See how the rest of the string follows so nicely?” he asked. He then reversed course and tried to “push” the string. “See how it bunches up when I do that?” he said. A pause followed during which he tried to make it work. “It’s really not too smart of me to do it this way, is it?” The lesson, of course, was to lead by example, and not by being “pushy.”
Lots of Witnesses are “pushy”—not necessarily elders, but anyone. People take it as akin to bullying in some cases. Sometimes we “counsel” each other and it would be better to just let things ride. Sometimes we “counsel” each other and we forget to examine the rafter in our own eye. Peer pressure can be a good thing, encouraging us all to hold the course, but our imperfection can make it stifling. Sometimes we have to tell people to mind their own business. Much of this abrasion has been and is being refined out of us but it will never vanish.
I wrote a post about spiritual progress over the last 50 years, addressed to someone inclined to be critical:
“I would say the numerous schools that exist now that did not 50 years ago fits the bill. For elders, ministerial servants, traveling reps, etc. Intense and reoccurring instruction lasting anywhere from a weekend to a few weeks. I have attended some of these schools. Almost all content is on imitating Jesus’ manner of dealing with the flock, dealing with those in the ministry, showing tenderness, not lording it over, leading by example, and so forth. Very little is on what would be called ‘doctrinal.’ [I then included the above paragraph about the elder and the string]
“These schools have a cumulative effect of refining those exercising any authority. That they are needed can be inferred from Jesus’ dealings with those to whom he granted the greatest authority. Even on the eve of his death he interceded in an argument they were having as to which one of them was the greatest, the same as you might do with children. (Luke 22:24)
“Take that into account for anyone carrying on about how inspired, unerring, and pure the leaders were back then and by extension ought be today. Grown men are capable of behaving like children. It happened then, it happens today. Refresher course training in which students will focus on scores of scriptures—and if they prepare as they ought—hundreds of scriptures, go a long way towards training those in authority to lead and shepherd as Christ did.
“And, far from the Governing Body dreaming up a school that they ride above and apply to everyone else, when such a school is formulated, they put themselves through it first. They do not imagine that they cannot benefit from intense review of how Jesus dealt with people.”
So Jehovah refines his people. The benefit of elders being refined is that it trickles down to everyone else as well. Jehovah unites a people that would not otherwise be united. To the contrary, many would be at each other’s throats, squabbling over issues of class, economics, education, political leaning, race, nationalism. If you were not in the truth, you would choose as friends those with whom you naturally get along, but as congregation members, our friends include ones with whom getting along is not a natural for us.
Two verses help me immensely. Both have been expounded upon in our program recently. Philippians 2:3,4—“...doing nothing out of contentiousness or out of egotism, but with lowliness of mind considering that the others are superior to you, keeping an eye, not in personal interest upon just your own matters, but also in personal interest upon those of the others.” I love that point. At first glance, it might strike one as ridiculous. How can I think you superior to me and at the same time you think me superior to yourself? The answer was supplied in a recent study article. Everyone is superior to the other in at least one way. Find that way and hone in on it. When you see that person, make sure that’s the first thing that comes to mind. It works wonders for human relations.
The other verse is 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 about love. It...”does not keep account of the injury....bears all things...endures all things.” At the Regional Convention, these verses were given their standard application how we keep this in mind as we view others. But what was new—at least to me—was the idea that they will do the same with regard to us. We might really be outrageous in one or more aspects, yet if we are known for love, people will overlook it!
Listen—I know the temptation. They will pour on the syrup from Bethel and you just want to scream: “Enough! Call a spade a spade! This guy’s an idiot!” But it has to be that way—or at any rate it is that way. It is the only way to bind a people of infinite diversity, barring just one item, into one.

We do hate sexual abuse but you are so totally critical that you do not recognize any efforts JWs have done (when there were no laws in place) to do something about this..... being totally unreasonable. You also do not have the capacity to put yourself in another organizations shoes.  .... to look at an issue from BOTH sides......nor reasonable but only one sided. Hence my contention that you have joined the haters....... no constructive criticism but totally destructive. ....

You forgot to mention many of the organizations such as scouts etc that closed their doors and cannot get taken to court..... and are not held accountable....You also name only one Jewish case when there are many....many  ....and you also forgot the muslem 9 year old marriages that are thrown out of court and nothing done!  Many rape gangs in UK for 15 years and police turn a blind eye.
Why do you not go and stand in the street in front of mosque when the next 9 year old gets married. Stand with a placard indicati g you are against 9 year old marriages in your own country.  Then you will see where the true sympathies of governments lie and if your government really cares about 9 year old victims who cannot give consent for marriage. Do they really care about the continued rape of 9 year olds? ......... will you find yourself behind bars? Heh?.

They will use this as the excuse..... not for the purpose of true justice.  Jehovah has never punished someone else for a murder. The perpetrator must have the consequences himself - not someone else - but only  on witness of two people because of the seriousness of the consequences.
The GB will carry the consequences even though they were not the perpetrators of the crimes or the elders in the congregation which could not determine guilt..... or negligence in congregation.
And here I use the example again of other religious organizations.  It is more prevalent in Islam than in catholic church and also the Jews BUT do you ever see anyone of these religions put it in the press? ....never a word in the press.   Why are JWs singled out?..... even though we shun when we can determine guilt ?   Because  people want to destroy us. They know we are imperfect like they are - but their hate for us wins the day.....  we are wicked when we do not immediately condemn without enough proof and we are condemned when we shun...... so we can never get it right.... similar to Jesus they will find a reason to crucify us.
I think they will turn against GB and confiscate all property......... but JWs will still meet and not be destroyed when other religions are destroyed at Armageddon........ then when we still preach ..... they will turn on us - final part of Armageddon.

Do not twist my words......  I said people do not have respect for blood.  So no- we are NOT to consume whole  blood in any way. When it comes to fractions, it is a personal decision,  such as vaccinations - which are grown with fetus tissue etc.

You know the scriptures..... there are no scriptures referring to fractions.
Apart from medicines and vitamins with blood fractions,  there is talk of beauty products made from fetuses, impossible burger synthetic  meat which has DNA in it which causes it to bleed etc.  Yes man is getting pretty wicked and innovative.... so it depends on the person- what they know and what they do not know.....

What you expect is Santa Claus
This is infuriating to me. Such whiners think only of themselves.
They “admitted” it long ago and if you didn’t think you were Perry Mason angling confession from the courtroom spectator you would see that.
From the Revelation Climax book, published in 1988:
“It is not claimed that the explanations in this publication are infallible. Like Joseph of old, we say: “Do not interpretations belong to God?” (Genesis 40:8)”
Call those the words of people who think they cannot be wrong?
For the life of me, I don’t know why this is so hard. It is as though grown adults are determined to make themselves children. Since the writers plainly state up front that they could be wrong, I take everything in that spirit. I strive to get my head around whatever they are saying & and discern how they came to think as they do because I do not want to be like Diotrophes, who “receives nothing from us with respect.” But it is all tentative—it represents to me the best thinking out there. It doesn’t mean that nobody else can think. However, since detractors here have NOTHING to show for themselves other than grumbling over how they would like to see things different, I take whatever they offer with that in mind.
The GB is vigilant and they take their shepherding role seriously. They do not want to find themselves in the shoes of Lot, whose sons-in-law thought he was joking. That is why they do not say: “Here is our latest thinking. It’s probably no good, but see what you think.” No. They state what they state in recognition that “interpretations belong to God” and that they are doing their best to figure those things out.
