Only Jesus can read hearts. I agree with you, the company here is not pure but your behavior is also badly flawed in a different  way. you can learn from this,  or not - your choice. 

On the other hand, maybe they interact w/the unpleasant for the same reason some people pick at scabs or watch Dr Pimple Popper - they just want to see what gross junk comes out.

We learnt this week to walk away when people are abusive.  If this is not abuse then I do not know what you think it is.  You must be a nightmare in your congregation. ....bye ..... if you think you are going to get any converts here ..... forget about it.  No remorse in your demeanor either.  Head knowledge and NO compassion or love. You justify your hateful attitude by Jesus cleaning the temple...... 99.9 percent of the time Jesus was compassionate and kind as well as patient.... think about that!

The bible says if we do not have love then we are NOTHING. 1cor 13 first verse.  You break your spiritual family members down by telling them they are not good enough.  Have you not attended the last few watchtower studies ?  Did you do any introspection? Have you not read the psalms? ... or is it only head knowledge that matters to you and no wholehearted wise application of what you learn?

Maybe it was a case of your answering before thinking about what he was trying to do. Remember the scripture which says there is NO man is without sin.  Some may think that all others are equal in sin  but they are not...... their hastiness to break down and judge is not sin.  Jehovah turns his eyes away from the haughty..... We all need forgiveness from God to be approved every day of our life.  If we are just criticizing and not building up we may ourselves miss out on this forgiveness.  The very reason I identify jah4me as a hate-OCD person is because that is all he does - break down and criticize.

I think it is a mistake to view him as a fellow believer. He might be, but two sayings temper that conclusion for me.
The first is that ‘if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck it is a duck.. Cesar certainly does not walk and quack like any Witness you or I know. It is impossible not to be moved at all by those Watchtower study articles you quoted previously. The duck he walks and quacks like is simply that of an abuser, like AlanF himself, when he puts on another hat. 
The second is my own saying, a slight tweak of Romans 3:4 that “every man be found a liar.” Modify it to “every man online be found a liar” and the saying finds yet another application in these modern times. How can you know about anyone online? Anybody can say anything. You can only go by whether something has the “ring of truth” to it, and he has not a bit of that when it comes to Christianity.
I suppose it is remotely possible that he is a whack-job of a Witness, presenting himself one way before flesh and blood, and working out his frustration, that he has not resolved by godly means, online, like the outwardly pious one filling up on porn or uber violent gaming by night. But I think it more likely he is some outlier, perhaps one-time active, but now a braggart who just bullies with a body of knowledge that at first glance seems impressive, but usually turns out to be shallow—he may know the title of a work, but not much else. JWI has many times pointed out how he just throws in whatever he has to ruin any discussion. (which I admit is how at times I use humor, but I hope I can never be accused of using it so recklessly).
The only thing I know about him for sure is that his favorite show is Nature. Not the show itself, which he doubtless thinks is apostate, since he thinks everything is, but the scenes of the huge animals ramming each other with horns. It is the only type of social interaction he seems capable of understanding. He takes note as to how he can be more like this or that big dumb ox that has bested its rival when he next goes online—never more than a few minutes away.

I think, you should read what I said and think about that.  Not interpret your own agenda into what I said.

There are many things the bible does not condemn outright  but if you want to be morally clean and without any pagan images in your worship then one understands that it is wrong. It depends on level of obedience to god and the level of accurate knowledge.

I mean, do you get any sense that she is advancing in her relationship with God? Or is she leaving it all behind, thank you very much, and the quicker the better?

Okay. I read how she wanted to be a film critic, but the elders discouraged that on the basis of the filth she would regularly have to feed on. Do you think their counsel was wrong?
Yeah, that’s because she stepped away from it. That happens when you step away from anything. Note that some of her family does not speak with her. That means that some do. When she sees Witnesses she once knew, many walk away, but some chat. It is hardly as draconian as she makes it out to be, given that she has repudiated the one thing they all had in common.
Her beefs notwithstanding, and even given her lack of context with the ARC matter, it is not a bad article. She says the faith “demands all.” Isn’t that what Jesus repeatedly said? She says there is emphasis on obedience. Didn’t Paul say the same? She says she learned to “put herself first.” Is that the course you want to endorse when it comes to matters of God? 
She doesn’t confess to a life of misery. She says her childhood included much happiness—the main stresses only from the sense of being different.  Isn’t ‘different from the world’ exactly what Christ preached?
I think of that verse of Paul and how some were preaching the Christ with good motive, but some were trying to stir up trouble for him. So? he says. Either way the Christ is being preached.
Like Demas, she loved the world and has forsaken Paul for it. People do that. But I am surprised you would lionize her for it, since you claim to be one who thinks Paul deserves support.

I read recently that China was taking Christians into custody that were regularly using zoom. I think the platform will allow for this type of government abuse.  In the end it could make all of us more vulnerable.  I do not know what is the solution because the JW app has now been banned in Russia.  So a JW meeting app may not work either.   
I think we are reaching a time where we all will have to be ready to stand up for our faith and even go to "re-education camps"  for it..... it is this serious. 
I have also heard of kingdom halls that were successfully sold.  There is a boom in property sales now (a massive bubble)- so the GB will get some money to go on from selling properties.  They must sell while the boom lasts. Halls cost money to maintain with no-one using it.
Inflation is going up and the stock market and housing market is artificially high (just as before the great depression).  The dollar has lost so much of its value that the food prices will soon be shooting up.
We really are close to a great catastrophe.....  The central banks will soon replace the physical money with digital money and start a new fiat digital  currency to keep the world gong. They want to centrally control all of us.  The money you have in your bank and the house which is yours may be nationalized.  Gold and siver can be taken away and bitcoin may be illegal. When we do not comply to their moral standards (being Christians) our "universal income" will be cut off.  The hate towards Christians is growing.  We are not the same as other Christians ... but to them we are part of that category.
The GB are smart to let kingdom halls go as we can no longer physically meet.  The vaccination will not stop (more to come) as it gives them control over us.  It is the beginning of a series of vaccinations. People are starting to wake up to the manipulation going on but we are like helpless little birds in a trap - only Jehovah can remove us from it by some miracle.
The Ezekiel book we did 3 weeks ago reminded me of our situation now.  The city (world) in lockdown and a third dying of hunger and pestilence - the rest by the sword. Those fleeing will also be pursued.  Pretty grim picture but I think it is very possible for our time.
The final climax of the world where science and tech (human pride for what they can achieve)  is the new god. They will use it for oppression because they are imperfect and they are all atheist. 
Keep the faith, attend the meetings as long as possible and stay true to Jehovah. Do not get the mark of the beast (any identification as putting trust in any part of the world political system.)  Human institutions are now all corrupt and soon will be obsolete.

I have the same type of mindset.  I also listened to a few podcasts featuring the high priest of Evolution (dawkins) and some other debates.  One learns a lot. 

It's my own fascination to be certain. I like to take as many things out of the realms of the philosophical and theoretical as I can.

Do a little research on 1 Corinthians 6:9-12 and you will see two categories in the list of those who will not inherit the kingdom, “men kept for unnatural purposes,” and “men who lie with men.” The first has particular reference to a young man or boy specifically kept for sexual purposes. The is was extremely common in the ancient world, in nearly all places except among the Jews.
This is the expression, “men kept for unnatural purposes,” that would fit pedophelia. The first, “men who lie with men,” is plain, regular, homosexuality. As you suspected, there is a movement among those who practice the gay life to “interpret away” verses that condemn their actions. I think what you son has come across are such efforts.
The Hebrew Scriptures also cover both, not just one, pedophilia and homosexuality.
Leviticus 18:22 is homosexuality: “And you must not lie down with a male the same as you lie down with a woman. It is a detestable thing.”
Leviticus 18:10: pedophllia: “As for the nakedness of the daughter of your son or the daughter of your daughter, you must not lay bare their nakedness, because they are your nakedness.”

Have you ever done an analyses of the main theme of the bible and follow the golden thread as it runs right throughout the bible?   I guarantee you,  one does not need to argue with anyone over evolution when you understand how consistent and realistic this theme is and how the continuity of it runs throughout every book if the bible.  Most of these prophets lived in different centuries and were not living at the same time or in the same place  to influence each other. One comes to the conclusion that the bible is " reality" - the bible is powerful in its consistency and Jehovah is all powerful in his logic and justice.
Humans have only scratched the surface of science and soon will have the whole world dying or suffering with their so-called outrageous science ideas which they will forcibly apply to mankind in their arrogance - NOT for the benefit of human kind but to our detriment.
Many themes are connected to the main theme of the bible.  One has no doubt that humankind will have  NO hope for a future if it was not for Jehovah's promises of the restoration of his original purpose. To understand all these issues are important to exercise faith. The wicked world in contrast provides enough evidence that humans cannot rule themselves successfully at all.
