The Cincinnati Police Department announced Tuesday that they are investigating the parents of a child who fell into the gorilla exhibit at the Cincinnati Zoo on Saturday.

Age of child verified… The child involved in this incident is three years old.
— Cincinnati Police (@CincinnatiPD) May 31, 2016
The Cincinnati Zoo has been at the center of a national controversy after zookeepers shot and killed a 17-year-old, 450-pound gorilla named Harambe in order to save a child that had fallen into the exhibit.
Over the course of 10 minutes, the gorilla dragged the child through the enclosure, and zoo officials determined that tranquilizers would not subdue him in time to save the child’s life.
A spokesperson for the Cincinnati Police Department said in a statement that their probe is consistent with department policy and only pertains to “the actions of the parents/family that led up to the incident” and is “not related to the operation or safety of the Cincinnati Zoo.”
Animal rights activists and mourners gather for a Memorial Day vigil outside the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, Monday, May 30, 2016 in Cincinnati for Harambe, the gorilla killed Saturday at the Cincinnati Zoo after a 4-year-old boy slipped into an exhibit and a special zoo response team concluded his life was in danger. Following the incident, some have protested the death of the western lowland silverback, a member of an endangered species.
Thane Maynard, the Cincinnati Zoo’s director defended the zookeepers who acted to save the child, telling reporters on Monday that “We stand by our decision.”
“People can Monday-morning quarterback about the situation, but I am proud of the fast response and decisiveness of the team,” Maynard said. “It was a tough decision and we did not take it lightly to shoot our animal and it was a little boy’s life.”

A&E’s “Duck Dynasty” star Sadie Robertson shared a personal reflection on how she found happiness through her faith in a recent Instagram post.
“I am filled with ultimate joy,” Robertson wrote.
Robertson wrote that she recently read “Looking for Lovely” by Annie Downs, and the book “challenged” her “to seek the beauty God has created around me, and within me.”
“Now because of what God showed me through that book I don’t see myself as the world sees me. I don’t even see the world I used to see it,” she wrote.
“People ask how do I remain myself through the midst of fame,” she continued. “My answer now with the help of a dear friend talking to me about this last night is that I was not made to be worshiped, but to worship.”
“I worship the God who made this creation we live in, and all the beauty in it. We are created to love people. How beautiful is that? We are made to LOVE. With my platform I get to love so many people I wouldn’t [have] met before. That is something to smile about!”
“That is how I have found the ultimate joy,” she concluded.
The “Duck Dynasty” star frequently uses her social media accounts to share messages of faith.
Robertson’s newfound joy follows her high-profile split from longtime boyfriend Blake Coward last month.

The State Department issued a travel alert Tuesday for Americans traveling to Europe this summer, urging them to “exercise vigilance,” as several upcoming high-profile and crowded events in the region may present a heightened risk of terrorist attacks.
Bruce Bennett/Getty Images
“The large number of tourists visiting Europe in the summer months will present greater targets for terrorists planning attacks in public locations, especially at large events,” the alert states.
The alert specifically mentions two events taking place in Europe in the coming months — the European Soccer Championship, which will take place in June in France, and the Catholic Church’s World Youth Day in Krakow, Poland, in July.
Those attending the soccer championship should be aware that “Euro Cup stadiums, fan zones, and unaffiliated entertainment venues broadcasting the tournaments in France and across Europe represent potential targets for terrorists, as do other large-scale sporting events and public gathering places throughout Europe,” the alert states.
According to the alert, U.S. citizens attending World Youth Day “should be aware that local infrastructure may be strained due to the large number of visitors” and Poland “will impose border controls at all of its national borders from July 4 to August 2.”
The alert expires Aug. 31.

Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol, a prominent leader seeking to block Donald Trump from becoming president, is working to recruit conservative attorney David French, according to two Republicans familiar with the Never-Trumper’s efforts.
French, a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, is a constitutional lawyer, the author of several books and the recipient of the Bronze Star, according to his biography at National Review, where he serves as a staff writer. French lives in Columbia, Tenn., with his wife, Nancy, and three children.
Though Kristol, who is in Israel, was not interested in offering comment Tuesday, according to Bloomberg Politics, the two Republicans who confirmed the Weekly Standard editor’s efforts signaled that French is, in fact, open to launching a third-party campaign, but has not made a final decision.
French has not yet decided on a running mate or secured major financial backing, one of the Republicans added. However, according to the same source, some conservative donors are interested in the prospect of a French candidacy.
Many have been anxiously awaiting an announcement from Kristol ever since his Sunday tweet, indicating he found an “impressive” candidate “with a strong team and a real chance.”
In the June 6 issue of the Weekly Standard, Kristol asserts that “the fact of Trump’s and Clinton’s unfitness for the Oval Office has become so self-evident that it’s no longer clear one needs a famous figure to provide an alternative.” After seeking to recruit people like 2012 Republican nominee Mitt Romney, Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, Kristol seems fairly confident in French’s potential.
“To say that he would be a better and a more responsible president than Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump is to state a truth that would become self-evident as more Americans got to know him,” he wrote.
This news comes the same day Kristol fired off about Trump, who criticized the conservative leader’s efforts to recruit a third-party alternative candidate, calling the billionaire businessman a “roaring jackass.”
I gather Donald Trump said I'm a loser. I've won some and I've lost some, but one thing I've always tried not to be is a roaring jackass.
— Bill Kristol (@BillKristol) May 31, 2016
According to one person close to the efforts to recruit a third-party option, the search has focused on people who possess the following traits, which were deemed necessary in order to launch a viable campaign: major wealth, fame and elective experience.
