Former Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson said that the United States may be on a course to “tremendous carnage and death” during an interview Monday on Fox and Friends.

“America, right now, is like a cruise ship that is about to go off of Niagara Falls with tremendous carnage and death,” Carson said. “What you have to do first is recognize the problem, stop the ship, turn it around and then move in the other direction.”

Carson, a surrogate for Donald Trump, also addressed reports that an independent candidate may run for president, arguing that a third-party bid by an independent could lead to victory for Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton in November over “petty little differences” with the Republican candidate.

“I’m hoping that whoever that third-party candidate is will just stop for a moment and think about what the implications are of allowing Hillary Clinton or someone like her to get in there,” he added. “They get two to four Supreme Court picks and completely change the nature of this country and destroy the prospects for their children and their grandchildren to have the same opportunities that they had.”

Bill Kristol, a Weekly Standard editor and a leader of the #NeverTrump effort tweeted Sunday that an “impressive” third-party candidate will enter the race for the White House. Trump retaliated by calling Kristol a “dummy” on Twitter.

Just a heads up over this holiday weekend: There will be an independent candidate–an impressive one, with a strong team and a real chance.

At one time, Glenn Beck offered glowing words to Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, but those feelings seemed to have vanished since the vanquished Republican presidential hopeful indicated he will support presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump.

Rubio suggested he is behind Trump because there are no other good options to block likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton from winning the presidency in November. But, for Beck, that is not reason enough to support the brash billionaire.

“Can you have any credibility when you said one thing on the campaign trail and then the opposite after. Were you lying to us then or now Marco?” Beck asked in a Facebook post Sunday evening.

In response to Rubio’s decision, Beck praised former Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal for at least being honest in his unenthusiastic choice to back Trump.

“I personally don’t understand it but I accept Bobby’s endorsement of Trump because it was truthful and I cannot fault him,” the conservative radio host wrote. “I don’t agree but at least he was not slimy.”

But he didn’t offer the same to the retiring Florida senator.

“Marco, you are either lying now or when you were running,” Beck wrote. “I don’t know which and I don’t care. You have no credibility with me any more.”

Memorial Day is a time to reflect upon the sacrifices made and the lives lost to protect Americans’ way of life. It’s a day most spend at home, so actor Rob Lowe recommended those who have the day off watch a movie — but many weren’t happy with his suggestion.

The politically-attuned actor offered a friendly recommendation Sunday night, imploring his Twitter followers to watch “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi,” which he described as the “perfect Memorial Day movie.”

If you haven't seen 13 Hours, it's a perfect #MemorialDay movie. A reminder of everything we should never forget. Particularly in 2016.

“13 Hours” portrays the 2012 attacks on the U.S. compound in Libya and depicts the way in which an armed forces team responded to the deadly situation. Then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has been criticized for her role in the attack, which left four Americans dead.

Lowe said the Michael Bay flick is “a reminder of everything we should never forget.” However, the actor was slammed on Twitter for suggesting people watch the controversial movie on Memorial Day.
