  6. Donald Trump’s controversial campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, appeared on “Fox News Sunday” this week to answer questions about the Republican front-runner’s strategy as the primary season winds down.

“Bottom line is Donald Trump is now the head of the Republican Party,” Lewandowski said. “He will bring people together.”

Unsurprisingly, Lewandowski shared that the campaign’s main goal moving forward is to defeat Democratic front-runner, Hillary Clinton, in November.

But with seconds remaining in the interview, host Chris Wallace asked a question that produced a response no one likely anticipated.

Wallace asked Lewandowski to comment on reports that some Trump associates are suspicious that the campaign’s Trump Tower offices are being bugged. At first the campaign manager ignored the question, but Wallace pressed further.

“Is there any bugging going on at the Trump Tower?” Wallace asked, with 10 seconds remaining in the interview.

“I think that’s a lot of speculation,” Lewandowski began. “I don’t think that’s the case at all — I think we’re very happy with the way that our offices are set up.”

It’s not quite clear what Lewandowski was trying to suggest, and given that there was no time for a follow-up question, the bizarre response was left alone.

  12. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) once again urged critics of Hillary Clinton to drop the discussion surrounding the former secretary of state’s email controversy and instead focus on the “major problems” the country’s next president will have to address.

“This goes on and on and on. We’re reaching the final stages of a primary,” Feinstein said on ABC’s “This Week” in an interview that aired Sunday.

    Mark Wilson/Getty Images

    Mark Wilson/Getty Images

“Hillary Clinton is going to win this primary. I say enough is enough. Let’s get to the major problems facing this nation,” the Democratic leader said, adding later, “I don’t believe she was trying to hide anything.”

Last week an internal watchdog released a report to Capitol Hill that stated Clinton and her senior aides didn’t comply with the State Department’s policies for record keeping. According to the report, Clinton never requested permission to use a personal email server, and it “would not” have been approved because of “the security risks in doing so.”

“I think this is a woman who wants a little bit of a private life,” Feinstein, who endorsed Clinton, said on “This Week.” “She wants to be able to communicate with husband, with daughter, with friends and not have somebody looking over her shoulder into her emails.”

She also stressed that from what she can see, the front-runner hasn’t broken any law.

“I read all 42 pages of the report. The conclusion of the report does not say that. What it says is that the department does not handle these electronic platform operations well and needs to do better,” Feinstein said.

Feinstein also noted that Clinton herself has acknowledged her mistake and would have done things differently a second time around.

“I mean, what do people want?” Feinstein asked, adding later, “Having said that, it is what it is and, you know, I don’t think we should make a federal case over it.”

  16. ATLANTA (TheBlaze/AP) — A suspect was arrested after a sheriff’s deputy was shot in the face during a traffic stop south of Atlanta, Georgia authorities said.

Joe Lee Garrett, 24, was arrested just hours after the shooting happened about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor told WTVM-TV. Police said Garrett turned himself in and was transported to Russell County Jail. He is being charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, and is currently being held as a fugitive from justice in relation to the shooting.

Police also reportedly arrested Lytishia Horace in connection to the shooting.

Police previously said three people were inside a 1994 blue Chevrolet Caprice on I-85 southbound, about 80 miles south of downtown Atlanta, when they were stopped by the deputy. It was not immediately known why the sheriff’s deputy stopped the car.

The deputy suffered a single shot to the face, above the left eye, while walking up to the vehicle Jolley said.

He was rushed to a hospital and is being treated. The condition of the unidentified deputy was not immediately known Saturday night.

Police were searching for the suspects, whose car was caught on the deputy’s dash cam video.
