Actor Mark Salling, known for his role in Fox’s hit show “Glee,” was indicted Friday on federal charges of receiving and possessing child pornography on his laptop and a memory drive.
The indictment alleges Salling, 33, used the Internet to receive a pornographic image and video of a young girl on Dec. 26, 2015. The second charge alleges the actor was in possession on Dec. 29, 2015, of two sexually explicit videos depicting young girls.

In addition, the laptop and flash drive seized by police also contained thousands of images and videos of child pornography, authorities who are still reviewing the material said.
The actor, who portrayed Noah Puckerman on “Glee,” was named in the two-count indictment after the the Los Angeles Police Department and the Child Exploitation Investigations Group, a multi-agency task force, concluded an investigation into his activity.
Salling was first arrested in December and subsequently released on bond. But once officials realized the magnitude of the child pornography, the case was handed over to federal authorities, which resulted in the indictment.
“It doesn’t matter who you are or what you do, if you hurt a child you will be held accountable,” LAPD Lt. Andrea Grossman told BuzzFeed in a statement. “These images are more than photographs, they are child abuse.”
Sailing’s attorneys said the actor plans to comply with authorities and will surrender on June 3 for arraignment.

After months of controversy over their stances on free speech and free expression, the two heads of Yale’s residential Silliman College have finally given what many students apparently have been coveting:
Their resignations.
Nicholas Christakis had been serving as the school’s master while his wife, Erika Christakis, was associate master. They handed in their resignations last week, the Yale Daily News reported.

The fallout began last October when Erika Christakis reacted to a directive from the school’s Intercultural Affairs Committee, which had just asked students to resist donning Halloween costumes that might come across as offensive.

Christakis sent an opposing email to students reminding them that living in a free society means sometimes putting up with offensive stuff: “Whose business is it to control the forms of costumes of young people? It’s not mine, I know that.”
Well, that didn’t fly with students who reportedly attempted to get Christakis and her husband removed from their positions. Things heated up days later when attendees of a conservative event on campus told the Yale Daily News they were spat on by protesting students as they departed.
And you may recall an unsettling video of Nicholas Christakis attempting to talk to a large group of angry students encircling him on a college walkway, demanding apologies and explanations for why their “safe space” pleas haven’t been heard.
Suddenly a student got in Christakis’ face, yelled at him to “be quiet” and proceeded to give him a profanity-laced lecture of what his position entailed.
“It is your job to create a place of comfort and home for the students who live in Silliman,” the student told Christakis, later adding, “Do you understand that?”
When Christakis stated his disagreement, the student screamed, “Then why the f*** did you accept the position? Who the f*** hired you? You should step down!” She also told Christakis he shouldn’t sleep at night and that he’s “disgusting.”

The couple said in December they had cancelled their spring semester courses but were staying on in their administrative roles.
Despite support from Yale faculty and the school’s president, Erika Christakis told the New York Times in February she was thinking about returning to her work in early childhood education since preschool students “don’t try to get you fired.”
And after the apparent last straw — when some graduating Silliman College seniors refused to accept their diplomas from Nicholas Christakis, the Yale Daily News reported — they tendered their resignations effective this July.
Nicholas will return full-time to his research and teaching at Yale as the Sol Goldman Family Professor of Social and Natural Science, the school said. Erika Christakis is going back, as she’d considered a few months ago, to early childhood education.
“We have great respect for every member of our community, friend and critic alike,” Nicholas Christakis wrote in Wednesday’s email to the Silliman community. “We remain hopeful that students at Yale can express themselves and engage complex ideas within an intellectually plural community.”

Donald Trump will not, after all, participate in a debate with Bernie Sanders, the presumptive Republican nominee announced in a statement Friday.
“Based on the fact that the Democratic nominating process is totally rigged and Crooked Hillary Clinton and Deborah Wasserman Schultz will not allow Bernie Sanders to win, and now that I am the presumptive Republican nominee, it seems inappropriate that I would debate the second place finisher,” Trump said.

The billionaire businessman added that, though several networks had agreed to broadcast the face-off, they would “make a killing” on the event and “are not proving to be too generous to charitable causes,” which was the central condition to Trump’s proposed debate with Sanders.
In an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” earlier this week, Trump said he would debate Sanders only if the host network agreed to donate millions of dollars to charity. Moments before the Republican candidate’s announcement, the Sanders campaign said two broadcast networks had agreed to make major charitable contributions in order to host the forum.
“Our campaign and the Trump campaign have received two offers by broadcast television networks to host the Sanders-Trump debate that we suggested,” Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver said Friday. “Both offers include a major contribution to charity.”
“We are prepared to accept one of those offers and look forward to working with the Trump campaign to develop a time, place and format that is mutually agreeable,” he added.
Trump’s decision to skip the proposed showdown comes one day after Weaver said he hoped the real estate developer wouldn’t “chicken out” of the debate.

Should the debate have taken place, in addition to the two networks that agreed to play host to the event, online show The Young Turks offered $1 million to broadcast the debate and technology company Traction and Scale volunteered $10 million to host the debate.
