  5. During a late-night interview Wednesday with show host Jimmy Kimmel, Donald Trump discussed what he thinks about the hotly debated transgender bathroom issue.

Asked how he would approach the topic as president during the discussion with Kimmel, Trump seemed unsure about what the right answer would be, telling the comedian he would rather leave it to the states to decide.

    Randy Holmes/ABC via AP

“What I support is let the states decide. … And I hope the states will do the right thing,” the presumptive Republican nominee said.

But when Kimmel pressed him to clarify what “the right thing” to do is, Trump simply said, “I mean, I don’t know yet.”

The transgender bathroom controversy seems to be one in which Trump often finds himself on the outskirts of conventional conservative ideology. Last month, Trump asserted that North Carolina is “paying a big price” for its controversial bathroom bill.

He went on to say transgener people should be allowed to “use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate.”

“North Carolina did something that was very strong, and they’re paying a big price, and there’s a lot of problems,” Trump added, pointing out the many companies that have since boycotted the state over the legislation, which requires individuals to use the bathroom that coincides with their biological sex.

The real estate developer also slammed the idea of creating restrooms specifically for transgender people, calling the move “discriminatory” as well as “unbelievably expensive for businesses and for the country.” Trump also affirmed that, should Caitlyn Jenner visit Trump Tower, he would permit the reality star to use any restroom.

In a display to prove a point, Jenner later did just that.

During the same interview with Kimmel, Trump claimed he was “a little bit” insincere when he offered up glowing words for likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in the past — a key line of attack for Trump’s one-time Republican primary rivals.

“So you were full of s***?” Kimmel interjected.

Trump, laughing, replied, “A little bit.”

  7. NEW YORK (AP) — One person was killed and three others wounded in a shooting inside a concert venue in New York City, where hip-hop artist T.I. was scheduled to perform, police said.

It happened around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday at Irving Plaza, near Manhattan’s Union Square.

Police said a 34-year-old man was shot in the chest and a 33-year-old man was shot in the stomach. One of the men later died at a hospital, police did not say which one. A 26-year-old woman was shot in the leg. Police said a fourth person walked into a hospital on their own.

Elijah Rodriguez was attending the concert with his sister and they were in the VIP area by the stage. He said T.I. was supposed to go on stage at 9 or 9:30 p.m. but “he never showed up.” At or around 10 p.m. he said the venue started playing music again, and at about 10:15 p.m., he saw a line of people coming out from where the performers were coming onstage.

“All the sudden I heard someone saying that there was a shot, that someone got shot,” Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez didn’t actually hear the shots himself, but heard people saying that someone had gotten shot.

“It was scary to deal with. When I got outside, like literally across the street, there were a few girls having, like, panic attacks. One girl thought she saw someone get shot in front of her,” Rodriguez said, adding that T.I was not onstage when the shots were fired.

Video shot inside the venue showed a chaotic scene as concertgoers rushed to the sides trying to leave the area as a group of people tended to a person on the floor.

Representatives for T.I., whose real name is Clifford Joseph Harris Jr., said they were referring all questions about the shooting to police.

    No arrests were made.

No other information was immediately available.

Irving Plaza is a 1,025-person ballroom-style music venue.

  8. Fox News judicial analyst Andrew Napolitano said Wednesday that there is “ample evidence” to indict former secretary of state Hillary Clinton over her private email server.

Napolitano, speaking with Fox News host Bill O’Reilly, asserted that Clinton knowingly violated a statement that she signed under oath on her first day on the job, pledging to care for state secrets and know how to recognize them when they arise.

Watch the latest video at video.foxnews.com

Napolitano cited instances of Clinton’s email server, which was stored in the basement of her Chappaqua, New York, home, crashing, which left her BlackBerry temporarily disabled and unable to send or receive emails.

“She went dark and had documents verbally read to her, rather than transmitted to her through the State Department email system,” Napolitano told O’Reilly.

When Clinton was approached by State Department IT staff about using a government-issue BlackBerry in the meantime, according to Napolitano, the Democratic presidential front-runner declined, via her assistant Huma Abedin, noting concerns about the Freedom of Information Act.

“Now, what does this tell the FBI?” Napolitano asked. “This shows intent.”

He added that the revelation to which he is referring is noted in one of the emails released by the Justice Department.

“So that actually shows a calculation,” O’Reilly concluded. “And a calculation shows that she was trying to get around the rules.”

  12. The heat wave in India has started to melt the asphalt pavement in Valsad, Gujarat, as temperatures reached 120 degrees over the weekend.

A video recorded in the area shows locals sliding across the roads, dodging cars, as their feet get stuck in the melting tar. Residents can be seen stepping out of their shoes as they hurry across the busy streets — some rushing back to retrieve them; others leaving them in the road.

“We are praying to the gods for an early monsoon so that people get some relief, as the heat has taken a toll on our bodies,” Kanpur resident Neeraj Kumar told The Independent. “We are not even able to do our daily chores properly.”

BP Yadev, head of the national weather forecasting center of the India Meteorological Department, said summer thunderstorms often cool down the intense temperatures, but there has not yet been enough rain for that to happen. And the consequences for the heat are deadly.

According to the Indian Times, more than 400 farmers have committed suicide over the past four months.

“There’s absolutely no water,” farmer Ashok Balunke said, adding that the water dried up in January.
