  3. A rambunctious group of Black Lives Matter protesters walked on stage and interrupted a DePaul University event conservative provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos was speaking at Tuesday — and security failed to take any action to reinstate order into the room.

As Yiannopoulos — a senior editor at Breitbart — offered his view on feminism, demonstrators stormed the stage and started shouting “dump the Trump.” The event was hosted by the school’s College Republicans chapter and Yiannopoulos is an outspoken Trump supporter.

Moments later, an unidentified female protester ripped the microphone out of the event moderator’s hands, walked over to  Yiannopoulos and shouted, “What do you have got to say?”

    Content warning: Strong language

Yiannopoulos, known for his provocative remarks, shot back a few comments.

“I worked out why there are so many black girls here. I think it’s because I f***ed their brothers,” the openly-gay Yiannopoulos said.

“Imagine going home to your parents and having to explain that you were in prison for protesting a faggot,” he later quipped. “Well mom, there was this gay man who just had the wrong opinions.

Security was called to the scene, but when officers arrived, they only stood by and watched. Eventually Yiannopoulos got word that they would not remove the protesters, despite him saying that one had threatened to physically assault him.

“I asked them why they didn’t do that and they didn’t give an answer,” Yiannopoulos told TheBlaze. “[T]his is a college that sprung security costs on the students at the last possible moment. Tried to make them pay thousands in security costs. … And security just simply didn’t do their job.”

A representative for DePaul University was not available for comment to TheBlaze Tuesday evening.

Yiannopoulos, who told TheBlaze he would like security costs refunded, was forced to end the event. He instead led hundreds of student supporters in a march toward the university president’s office to ask why security failed to do their jobs.

Yiannopoulos also offered a strong critique of the student demonstrators.

“This is precisely why people are losing interest in the Black Lives Matter movement,” he told TheBlaze. “It is why you have achieved nothing. It is why you will achieve nothing. And every time this happens, people at home are more and more horrified at your childish and authoritarian tactics.”

This is far from the first time college protesters have attempted to shut down an event featuring a conservative speaker.

The issue was even raised by President Barack Obama earlier this month when he addressed the “trend  around the country of trying to get college to disinvite speakers with a different point of view or disrupt a politician’s rally.”

“Don’t do that, no matter how ridiculous you might find the things that come out of their mouths,” Obama said. “Because, as my grandmother used to tell me, every time a fool speaks, they are just advertising their own ignorance. Let them talk.”

  8. Paypal co-founder and Facebook board member Peter Thiel is reportedly paying for Hulk Hogan’s lawsuits against Gawker Media, according to Forbes.

Gawker founder Nick Denton was not surprised by the development, telling the New York Times Tuesday he had a “personal hunch” that Hogan’s financial assistance could be coming from someone in Silicon Valley.

Photo by Neilson Barnard/Getty Images for New York Times

Photo by Neilson Barnard/Getty Images for New York Times

“If you’re a billionaire and you don’t like the coverage of you, and you don’t particularly want to embroil yourself any further in a public scandal, it’s a pretty smart, rational thing to fund other legal cases,” he said.

“Third-party litigation funding” is not illegal and has in fact become more popular in the United States. Hogan’s connection to Thiel, who is worth $2.7 billion, is unclear, according to Forbes, though. Thiel is the only outside financial backer of the lawsuits against Gawker, but it is not yet known if the entrepreneur will see any of the $140 million won by Hogan in March.

But Thiel’s motivation may be about much more than money. Thiel, who is gay, has been open about his issues with Gawker, which tried to leak details about his sexuality before he publicly announced his orientation, Forbes reported.

In a 2009 interview, Thiel told PEHub that the since-shuttered Valley-centered publication Valleywag, a defunct Gawker project, had the “psychology of a terrorist.”

“Valleywag is the Silicon Valley equivalent of Al Qaeda,” he said at the time.

Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, originally brought a lawsuit against Gawker for leaking a sex tape, claiming the organization violated his privacy. He was awarded a total of $140 million in the trial. But when asked why he felt the lawsuits’ funding was coming from the Valley, Denton said it’s because Gawker has recently focused on exposing the tech industry.

“We write stories about powerful people in New York, but there are plenty of outlets writing stories about powerful people in New York,” he told Forbes. “We write stories about powerful people in L.A., but there are plenty of outlets writing stories about powerful people in L.A. What’s unique about Gawker is that we’re an Internet publication and the tech industry is of particular interest to us. There are powerful people in Silicon Valley and the power of Silicon Valley is a relatively new phenomenon.”

As a result of the Hogan lawsuits, Gawker has been ordered to pay $15 million and Denton must personally pay $10 million. Additionally, A.J. Daulerio, the former editor of Deadspin, where the sex tape was first published, must pay Hogan $100,000.

  17. Donald Trump campaign spokeswoman Katrina Pierson was repeatedly pressed by CNN host Wolf Blitzer Tuesday over the real estate mogul’s conflicting positions on the impeachment of former President Bill Clinton.

Blitzer played Pierson a 2007 video clip of Trump calling the impeachment “nonsense” and asked Pierson to respond.

“As a private citizen, when you are talking about someone you know and you are a friend with, that’s something you would say,” she said.

“At the time, he said it was nonsense,” Blitzer replied. “The whole impeachment process. He said, in that same interview — you know what else he said? He said the then-president of the United States, George W. Bush, he should be impeached for getting the U.S. involved in the war in Iraq.”

“But Wolf, you and I both know, as a private citizen you are not privy to a lot of the information you might be as a journalist or as someone might be as a sitting politician,” Pierson argued.

“But all the information we knew then in 2007, we’ve known that,” Blitzer countered. “We’ve known what happened in 1993, ’94, ’95, ’98.”

“But you don’t know what Mr. Trump knew at that time,” Pierson said. “You can project that onto him. But not everyone sits down and watches cable news 24/7 either. Mr. Trump was very busy building an empire.”

That argument didn’t quell Blitzer’s line of inquiry and he continued to press Pierson.

“In 2007 when I interviewed him, they said they tried to impeach him which was ‘nonsense.’ Does he still believe that? That it was ‘nonsense’ to try to impeach then-President Bill Clinton?” the CNN host asked.

“No, he actually brings that up and mentions that Bill Clinton was impeached because that’s extremely important because this is the same individual that we’re talking about putting back into the White House,” Pierson said.

“So what is his position now? Was it appropriate to impeach him?” Blitzer pressed.

“Well, back then, again according to the information he had at the time and as a friend, as a private citizen, he thought it was nonsense,” Pierson said. “At this point in time, yes. He lied. Everybody knows that now.”

“But everybody — in 2007 when he said that we all knew what happened during the impeachment process. We all knew what happened—,” Blitzer noted before Pierson interjected.

“But again, he was also a friend and a private citizen just defending a friend,” the Trump spokeswoman claimed.

“You know, it seems to me that in 2007 he knew what happened in 1998, 1999, during the impeachment process. Right? The whole world was watching it live on TV. … It’s not like anything new came out between 1998, 1999 and 2007,” Blitzer shot back.

“But the fact remains that he was a private citizen as well as a friend just defending a friend,” Pierson insisted. “That doesn’t change no matter what happened prior to ’97 or after. Today, he acknowledges that yes, this was definitely a problem and we are looking at putting the same man back into the White House.”

“But the point is the information doesn’t change if you are a private citizen saying something in 2007—,” Blitzer countered.

“But the way you respond does,” Pierson said.

“What do you mean the way you respond?” Blitzer asked.

“Because if you’re a friend—,” Pierson said before being cut off by Blitzer.

“Did he not mean it in 2007 when he said impeachment was ‘nonsense’?” the CNN host asked.

“They were friends, Wolf. Absolutely,” Pierson said.

“So he now means it? It wasn’t nonsense?” Blitzer continued to press. “Is that what you’re saying. That because he’s a politician now he says something different than when he was a private citizen?”

“He’s being honest. He’s being honest,” Pierson said.

“When is he being honest? In 2007 when he said it was ‘nonsense’ or is he being honest now?” Blitzer asked.

“When you are being a friend and a private citizen, you defend your friend. That’s what he did,” Pierson reiterated. “Today, it is a problem because Bill Clinton was impeached for lying under oath for doing things inappropriate with an intern at the White House. Is it the same person we are going to put in the White House again? I don’t think so. The criticism is there because it’s really simple. At that time, he was a friend.”

  20. Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton jokingly told talk show host Ellen Degeneres Tuesday “it’s worth looking into” barring presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump from running for president in the future.

In a Facebook Live video posted Tuesday evening teasing Wednesday’s interview with the former secretary of state, Degeneres presented this question from a viewer: “If you win, can you make a bill that would permanently prevent Donald Trump from running in the next election?”

Clinton — and the live-studio audience — quickly broke into laughter and cheering at the inquiry.

“I doubt it,” Clinton quipped, “but it’s worth looking into.”

Following that, Degeneres asked the presidential candidate to share the kindest thing anyone’s ever done for her. In response, Clinton said the kindest thing she’s ever experienced is her mother raising her.

“I have to say, the kindest thing is my mother raising me,” she said. “Loving, and kind, and caring — I’m so grateful to her for everything she did for me.”

And, interestingly, though Clinton is a Democrat, as she noted to Degeneres, she said an elephant would be her “spirit animal.”

“I really like elephants,” she remarked. “I love the way elephants remember, I love the way elephants — the matriarch of, the family, looks out for everybody. I just have such a sense of connection to elephants.”
