  2. SARASOTA, Fla. (TheBlaze/AP) — Hazardous materials teams found unidentified chemicals inside cleaning closets at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Florida on Monday after the clinic sent seven staffers who were complaining of breathing problems to a hospital for evaluation, police and clinic officials said. A total of 42 people were evacuated at 10:45 a.m. and people were decontaminated at the scene, Sarasota Police Department spokeswoman Genevieve Judge said in a news release. At the moment, there is no criminal investigation, Judge said. Planned Parenthood spokesman Andrew Taverrite said no patients were onsite. At least seven people were taken to the hospital as a result of the incident, Fox News reported. The workers were expected to be allowed back into the clinic later Monday, Judge said. The clinic provides family planning services, preventive health care, testing for sexually transmitted diseases, and abortions. Planned Parenthood is a national target because of its role as the largest U.S. abortion provider. Last year, edited videos were released purporting to show Planned Parenthood selling fetal tissue for profit. The organization has denied the allegation. Two anti-abortion activists were indicted in connection with making the videos. 6. Former Vice President Al Gore declined to endorse either former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton or Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders for the Democratic presidential nomination during an interview Monday on NBC’s “Today.” Asked if either candidate had sought his endorsement, Gore replied, “I’ve gotten signals that you can interpret that way.” Former Vice President Al Gore (Neilson Barnard/Getty Images for New York Times) Gore called himself a “lifelong Democrat” and declared that he will support the Democratic nominee. Discussing the “unusual” 2016 presidential campaign, Gore said, “I’m one of the millions who sometimes just does a double take: ‘Whoa, what was that?’” Though he criticized presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump’s stance on climate change, Gore said that he has “some basis for hope” for progress on climate change — the former veep’s signature issue — should Trump become president. “President [Jimmy] Carter said that he hopes [Trump] will be malleable, so I don’t know,” Gore said. Gore’s interview was part of a celebration of the 10th anniversary of the release of “An Inconvenient Truth,” the climate change documentary he made following his failed 2000 campaign for president. He told NBC that he still faces “attacks” by people “who don’t like the message,” of the film, which contained several errors and predictions that never came to pass. And he went on to point out that he lives a “green” lifestyle. “I don’t own a private plane,” Gore said. “My house runs on 100 percent renewable energy. I do walk the talk.” — Follow Kate Scanlon (@kgscanlon) on Twitter Read more stories from TheBlaze ‘Really, Hershey?’ Visitors Have Mixed Reactions After Hersheypark Announces It Will Allow Guests to Use Bathrooms According to Gender Identity Clinton Calls Trump’s Pro-Gun Policies ‘Not Just Way Out There,’ but ‘Dangerous’ Parents Find Horrific Injuries on 1-Year-Old Son — And They’re Stunned When They Learn Why Charges Are Being Dropped Elderly Book End-of-Life Talks Once Labeled ‘Death Panels’ Former NBA Star Accuses Fellow Train Passenger of Blatant Racism, Publishes Her Photo Online Source

  14. A San Fransisco sportscaster had a hard time containing his agitation when he realized during a live broadcast that the story he’d prepared to discuss had already been covered by his colleague minutes earlier. KRON-TV’s Gary Radnich was ready to talk about NBA star LeBron James’ role in the new “Space Jam 2” movie, but moments before his segment began, he realized that fellow KRON reporter Catherine Heenan had already broken the news. Image source: YouTube “We should tell you LeBron James is gonna star —” he begins, before shooting Heenan a hateful glare, “— in ‘Space Jam.’” “We actually — oh. Are you mad? ‘Cause I already said that,” Heenan replied, sounding hesitant. Then, as the cameras continued to roll during the live newscast, Radnich, who joined the station in 1985, according to his bio, proceeded to grill Heenan on her sports knowledge. “How’s Steph Curry‘s knee?” he asked before launching into a tirade, expressing his disbelief that Heenan would engage in such an act of betrayal. “How long have we been friends? Twenty-three years,” he said. “Have you ever — and I’m gonna say this with a smile — have you ever heard me say right before you came on, ‘There’s an irrigation problem in Gilroy’?” he fumed. Heenan tried to laugh it off with an eye roll before telling her coworker that he’d have to discuss the matter with the station’s producer, whom she claimed gave her “that lovely script.” “Don’t try and pit me against the producer,” Radnich shot back. The sportscaster then addressed the camera, sharing with all of his viewers that Hennan was a longtime family friend. “Catherine has stayed in my mother’s home, she’s written my mother notes and she’s stolen my material,” he said. After the incident, some of Heenan’s fans reached out on Twitter to voice their support. “Sorry to see how Gary treated you on air,” one follower named Matt Dalton wrote, adding, “We’ve all worked with jerks. He should apologize.” Heenan replied, thanking him while trying to downplay the uncomfortable event: “Thanks Matt — I know he was just trying to be funny, but I appreciate the support!” Dalton replied that Radnich “should know better,” calling the situation “awkward.” “Well done in that Gary R thing,” another follower named Neal Cavanaugh tweeted. “You handled it great.” Cavanaugh shared with Heenan that he “stopped listening to Gary years ago because of his runaway ego.” On Saturday, Radnich wrote a Facebook post addressed to viewers who “thought [he] was mad,” asking people to “please watch again” and see that he was actually only “playing.” Was it all just a bizarre joke? That’s for viewers to decide. — Follow the author of this story on Twitter: Follow @carlyhoilman Read more stories from TheBlaze ‘Really, Hershey?’ Visitors Have Mixed Reactions After Hersheypark Announces It Will Allow Guests to Use Bathrooms According to Gender Identity Clinton Calls Trump’s Pro-Gun Policies ‘Not Just Way Out There,’ but ‘Dangerous’ Parents Find Horrific Injuries on 1-Year-Old Son — And They’re Stunned When They Learn Why Charges Are Being Dropped Elderly Book End-of-Life Talks Once Labeled ‘Death Panels’ Former NBA Star Accuses Fellow Train Passenger of Blatant Racism, Publishes Her Photo Online Source
  15. The choir at East Liverpool High School in East Liverpool, Ohio, had a long tradition of singing the Lord’s Prayer during graduation ceremonies — a 70-year practice that school officials recently halted after demands from an atheist activist group. But students apparently weren’t willing to bow down to the Freedom From Religion Foundation’s complaint so easily. When class valedictorian Jonathan Montgomery took the stage this weekend, he reportedly led the entire class in reciting the popular Christian prayer. What followed was a rousing round of applause from the audience. Watch the moment unfold at the 2:25 mark below: Some have questioned why the school district backed down so quickly — a question that the head of the East Liverpool City School board was more than willing to answer. School board president Larry Walton told WTOV-TV that officials decided not to fight atheists’ demands due to the costly legal battle that could have unfolded as a result. “We said ‘okay, we just won’t do it anymore,’” he told the outlet. “It was a decision made because we don’t have a lot of money and we’d rather hire teachers than pay lawyers.” Walton previously apologized and said, “It’s a war we can’t win.” We’ll leave you with another report about the defiant move below: (H/T: WTOV-TV) – Follow the author of this story on Twitter and Facebook and check out his new book “The Armageddon Code: One Journalist’s Quest for End-Times Answers”: Follow @BillyHallowell Read more stories from TheBlaze ‘Really, Hershey?’ Visitors Have Mixed Reactions After Hersheypark Announces It Will Allow Guests to Use Bathrooms According to Gender Identity Clinton Calls Trump’s Pro-Gun Policies ‘Not Just Way Out There,’ but ‘Dangerous’ Parents Find Horrific Injuries on 1-Year-Old Son — And They’re Stunned When They Learn Why Charges Are Being Dropped Elderly Book End-of-Life Talks Once Labeled ‘Death Panels’ Former NBA Star Accuses Fellow Train Passenger of Blatant Racism, Publishes Her Photo Online Source

  22. When the United States Military Academy posted a short Facebook clip of its graduating West Point cadets marching to ceremonies Saturday, it included the caption, “Rise & shine with #USMA2016! This morning they will finish their 47-month cadet experience! #WithHonorWeLead.” But what one cadet was caught doing near the end of the minute-long clip had many commenters doubting the latter credo. Image source: Facebook/WestPointUSMA A female cadet was caught looking down at what appeared to be a cell phone while she was marching — and with that, observers didn’t just lambaste the cadet in question, but also classmates she was marching with, along with the state of the military in general. “That’s what’s wrong with this military and government. This is not just another college graduation,” Al Vega commented. “No military pride or discipline being taught. Embarrassment!!!!” “As a veteran, I want to know why are the cadets allowed to use cell phones while in formation?” Shirley Smith commented. “I am embarrassed for them and the new military standards. Obviously the uniform does not mean much to them.” “Amazing…in just a few hours, these cadets become our future leaders of the US military. They don’t even seem to know anything about D&C! Seriously, can’t even march in step, wrong uniforms, playing with their smartphones?!?!” Mike Brinkman commented. “Look like a bunch of privates on the first day of basic!!!” “Wow way to show discipline at West Point. Texting while marching, wearing sneakers and not dress shoes, also not wearing gloves like everyone else is,” Tina Ryan commented. “To think these are future officers and can’t even follow basic military rules. So disappointing cadets.” One commenter didn’t like what the cadet in question was doing, but noted that most of her classmates behaved better. “It’s called bearing and walking in a military manner, people are watching and how you carry yourself is how people perceive the service as a whole, we are briefed on this constantly,” Michael Bersch wrote. “Marching in formation and texting regardless or branch of service is not allowed even in route step. The majority of them are doing what they are supposed to do.” (H/T: Fox News) Read more stories from TheBlaze ‘Really, Hershey?’ Visitors Have Mixed Reactions After Hersheypark Announces It Will Allow Guests to Use Bathrooms According to Gender Identity Clinton Calls Trump’s Pro-Gun Policies ‘Not Just Way Out There,’ but ‘Dangerous’ Parents Find Horrific Injuries on 1-Year-Old Son — And They’re Stunned When They Learn Why Charges Are Being Dropped Elderly Book End-of-Life Talks Once Labeled ‘Death Panels’ Former NBA Star Accuses Fellow Train Passenger of Blatant Racism, Publishes Her Photo Online Source

  25. An Illinois high school is under fire for preventing one of its students from walking at graduation because she wanted to wear her military uniform rather than a cap and gown, according to WMAQ-TV. Marine Corps Pvt. Megan Howerton completed her high school education several months ago in order to attend boot camp, but she wanted to participate in her alma mater’s graduation ceremony with the rest of her class. Image source: WMAQ -TV According to WMAQ, Howerton chose to attend the ceremony in her dress blues, and school officials would not permit her to walk during the ceremony, citing dress code violations. She ultimately sat with the rest of the crowd for the ceremony. In a statement provided to WMAQ, a spokesperson for McHenry Community High School District 156 lamented that “the attention related to last night’s graduation ceremony at McHenry High School West Campus is unfortunate and draws attention away from the collective achievements of the Class of 2016″: The district and administration in no way looked to prevent the participation of this graduate or any graduate who has chosen to serve our nation. Rather, the administration communicated in advance via letter, senior meeting, and practice, all the protocols expected of graduates, including attire. In some past cases, active-duty students elected to wear their gowns over top of their military uniforms, with their military hats, which was allowed. There was no communication to the administration that attire protocols would not be followed prior to the ceremony. The tradition of cap and gown regalia is aimed at the idea that our graduates are celebrated as a whole and in similar attire. The U.S. Marine Corps Uniform Board does not permit wearing a cap and gown over a uniform “as it is considered similar to outerwear.” Several of Howerton’s classmates plan to address their concerns over her exclusion at an upcoming school board meeting.
